    A series of six gigs whirling round the Highlands,celebrating the legendary recording studios Watercolour Music as they move to their brandnew home on the shores of Loch Linnhe. Watercolour bands and likeminded soulsshow Highland music at its best, as they play amusical tag-team across the region with Mary Ann Kennedy and Na Seid, Findlay Napier andthe Bar Room Mountaineers, the John GoldieBand and the Sorren MacLean Band all joining in.

    Teatr Biuoro Podrozy present Macbeth: Whois that Bloodied Man?19th October / Dmhair

    Using their trade-mark stilts, fire and music,Polish theatre company, Teatr Biuro Podrozy bring a visually captivating interpretation of the classic Scottish play.

    Based on Shakespeares Macbeth it tells of human fate determined by destiny and innernecessity. Showing the world during the horrorof war, the world of nightmares, the world inblood, where it is legal to betray, to intrigue, tokill, it reminds you of the tragic consequence,that crime once committed will be continued,and mans death is not mans end he comesback as fear, remorse and obsession.

    This production is a powerhouse of energy and menace.

    It's a production that shows this magnificent Polish company at its best, and a reminder

    10,000 years ago a mythical giant fell from thesky to become part of our lives. He helpedshape the landscape we live in, and then justas suddenly, he disappeared. Now the mythis about to return. Early morning commuters will discover a vast seed pod in Linear Park,as a kilted clan of puppeteers arrive to unsealand dismantle his cocoon. When everything

    is prepared, he will walk around the town anddiscover who you are.

    The Flight of the Arctic Ternby Mark Sheridan19th 24th October / Dmhair

    The Arctic Tern migrates farther than any other bird, from the North of Scotland to the southern pack ice of the Antarctic. Alexander Gunn left hishome in Durness in 1853 en route to Australia,one of the thousands of Scots who left during theHighland Clearances. The journeys were longand hazardous. This is the story of Alexanders journey, narrated by BBC veteran Iain Anderson, with historical and environmental commentary from Michael Russell, MSP and Minister forCulture. A newly composed musical suite runsthroughout the piece to illustrate and supportthe narrative.

    An Aifreann Gidhlig/ The Gaelic Mass30th October / Dmhair

    Location / ite:St. Columbas Cathedral,Oban

    An Aifreann Gidhlig / The Gaelic Mass is a proj-ect which has interested and fascinated BlairDouglas for some years, but one which he hasonly recently felt equipped, musically and spiri-tually, to undertake. His Mass is rooted in theCeltic tradition, but seeks to explore and developdiffering musical themes. It features

    a blend of traditional instruments clrsach,fiddle, flute and pipes, along with string accom- paniment, organ and keyboards. Combiningboth musical styles, a uniqueand original work has been created featuringGaelic singers Paul MacCallum and MaggieMacdonald with the Inverness Gaelic Choir.

    Wanderings with a Camera -the photography of ErskineBeveridge5th 30th October / Dmhair

    Erskine Beveridge was a talented amateur photographer who travelled widely aroundScotland in the late 19th and early 20thcenturies. Accompanied by his camera, he pho-tographed the landscapes, communities, har-bours, archaeological sites and carved stones heencountered, and created a stunning visualaccount of Scotland. This exhibition highlightsthe quality and range of Beveridges photogra- phy, and offers a fascinating insight into aScotland on the brink of majorsocial and economic change.

A series of cargo boxes, created by Glasstorm of Tain,each open to reveal a unique souvenirevocative of the Highlands the preciouscargo of the title created by the best of Highland and Scottish makers.

    This October, more than 30 leading historians

    from half-a-dozen countries, will come togetherin Inverness to discuss and debate Scotlandsimpact across the globe and to contest thatour small nation did indeed change the world!

    Scotlands Global Impact, to be opened by FirstMinister Alex Salmond and chaired by broadcasterLesley Riddoch, promises to be exciting, entertain-ing and educational.

    This unprecedented event will reveal much aboutthe people of Scotland, exploring why they left theircountry over many centuries and unravelling thehuge impact this small nation and its people havehad on the rest of our planet.

    Conference fees are 50 per day. Discounts areavailable for group bookings. Conference delegatescan also enjoy tours of Culloden and Fort Georgeand receive the special offer of 2 for 1 accessto any Highland Homecoming event between19 and 31 October.
