Non uniform distribution of natural resources of water in the country is one of the biggest issue that can be addressed by setting up adequate

infrastructure for water and waste water treatment; and municipal sludge waste treatment to meet the growing water demand for domestic, industrial and commercial purposes. India’s water infrastructure market is currently pegged at around USD 100 billion which offers immense scope in the Indian market. CHEMTECH launched WaterEX series of international exhibitions and conferences in 2009 thus creating yet another forum to expand the scope of flagship event and creating greater engagement between various stakeholders.

During the first Central Advisory Board (CAB) meeting in New Delhi last month, Mr A B Pandya, Chairman, Central Water Commission and Chairman, WaterEX South Expo 2015 & Gujarat Expo 2016 reflected

• MrABPandyatochairthemeetingatJacobsEngineeringoffice• BoardmemberstofirmupplansforconferencesinChennaiandGujarat

on his fruitful association with CHEMTECH as the chair for the past two conferences. Mr Jonathan Ward, Principal Commercial Officer, Embassy of the United States of America, Mr. Murari Ratnam, Director, Central Soil & Mineral Research Centre, Dr V C Goyal, Head Research Management & Outreach Division, National Institute of Hydrology, Dr Veena Khanduri, Exceutive Secretary, India Water Partnership were among the dignitaries along with team CHEMTECH to attend the first CAB meeting organised in Mr Pandya’s office last month.

The members discussed the topics that would be most relevant for water and waste water treatment solution providers in South and Gujarat since each of these regions is niche in terms of geography.

Though broadly both the editions of WaterEX in Chennai and Ahmendabad will focus on water and waste water treatment and municipal solid waste, the sessions will be curated in context with the exact requirements

of technologies in the foreseeable future to meet the regional water demand.

The second board meeting will be organised on August 22, 2015 in Mumbai under the Chairmanship of Mr A B Pandya.

ACHEMA2015IndiaDaySeminar:SubstantialOpportunitiesforIndianandGlobalPlayers

Celebrating 40 years of partnership between ChemTech, ACHEMA and DECHEMA, the 2015 India Day Seminar organised by ChemTech

Foundation served as a wonderful platform for people to interact, exchange ideas, and develop new technologies. Inaugurated by Mr Maulik Jasubhai - Vice Chairman & Chief Executive of Chemtech Foundation & Jasubhai Group, the seminar saw the presence of Dr Kurt Wagemann, CEO, DECHEMA; Mr Richard Clemens, Managing Director, VDMA Associations; Dr Benno Lueke, CEO, ThyssenKrupp Industrial Solutions AG; Dr Widl, Chairman, Samson AG Executive

Board; Mr B Narayan, Group President (Procurement & Projects), Reliance Industries Ltd; Mr Yatinder Singh Suri, MD & Country Head, Outokumpu India. The eminent entrepreneurs discussed the scope, generative technologies, progress and challenges in sectors like biotechnology, chemicals and digitisation.

The seminar made it evident that a plethora of substantial prospects await Indian and overseas companies in India. With the country playing an increasing role with respect to investments in pharmaceutical and other industrial products, many global players from the chemical industry are seeking the Indian market for investment as there is

a growing impetus on knowledge based chemicals – specialty and fine chemicals. The chemical industry growth in India is about USD 150 billion with a projection of 11 per cent growth which can increase to 15 per cent. Even with the slightly constricting economic conditions, there is reason for optimism as these are cyclic phenomena. Regardless of this, the industry can assume an optimistic view as a turn of events is around the corner and the GDP is expected to be on better side of 7 per cent in the near future. Government support could further ease out business processes and fast-track development. Besides this, the 'Make in India' initiative of the Prime Minister will surely create a good environment with favourable policies for promoting the Indian industry.

From(L to R) Mr Yatinder Singh Suri, Dr Andreas Widl, Mr Maulik Jasubhai, Mr B Narayan, Dr Kurt Wagemann, Dr Benno Lueke, Mr Richard Clemens

“I am delighted to see that CHEMTECH Foundation VDMA and DECHEMA are forging together to promote Indo German industry in India. India is inching forward and there is always the hope of something happening in India. With the PM’s Make in India initiative, we are all looking at having good environment and good policies towards promoting Indian industry in the country and incentivising investments which includes not only Indian investors but also investments from outside India.”
