What is the Purpose of the HTS?• Main goal of HTS is to:

move people and cargo from one place to another in a safe, efficient, and economical manner.

• The National Highway Safety Act:– Established by the Federal,

State, and Local Government- Set of traffic safety guidelines- Enforced by people, motor vehicle dept, courts

Space Cushion: leaving a margin of space between you and the car in front of you.

- Gives you room to maneuver your vehicle incase of sudden stops

- Increases reaction time
