The Greater Grand Lake Visitors Region of Auglaize and Mercer counties provides a great hiking and biking destination for all ages to enjoy. We invite you to experience the great outdoors with over 70 miles of trails running through quaint towns, along beautiful countryside, around magnificent lakes and waterways, and through woodland, wetland and prairies habitats. You’ll discover the splendor of the Grand Lake St. Marys shoreline, the historic grandeur of the Miami-Erie Canal, the rugged beauty of nature sanctuary and wildlife preservation areas, and the pristene, natural beauty of our state and county parks. Along the trails, you’ll find many historic sites and area attractions, as well as excellent opportunities for recreational activities such as fishing, swimming, picnicking, bird watching, and more. Inside this brochure, we’ve provded trail descriptions and maps to help you navigate our hiking and biking trails. You’ll find a county map showing the general location of the trails, as well as larger scale maps detailing the trailways, local roads, access points, facilities, recreation, points of interest, and more. Hiking & Biking TRAIL INFORMATION Celina-Coldwater Path This 10 foot wide, tree-lined, shaded path was once an old railroad bed. The path stretches through the countryside and fertile farmland connecting the towns of Coldwater and Celina. It is ideal for biking, walking, running, and skating. Distance: 4.5 miles Surface: Paved Points of Interest: Scenic countryside CCP West Bank Trail This non-motorized, paved scenic trail is accessible on the west bank of Grand Lake St. Marys south of the state boat docks on West Bank Road, or Lake Shore Park in Celina. This beautiful trail meanders along the lake and into a wooded area, and is great for biking, walking, running and skating. Distance: 1.7 miles Surface: Paved Points of Interest: Celina Rotary Lighthouse, Grand Lake St. Marys State Park, dog park, picnic area, lake fishing access WBT Franklin Township Greenway Trail This non-motorized, paved trail is located on the south shore of Grand Lake St. Marys and is ideal for biking, walking and running. This wonderfully scenic route winds along the banks of Grand Lake St. Marys, meanders through the Franklin Township Nature Park, over a 100-acre wildlife preservation area, and traverses two covered bridges. Distance: 5.5 miles Surface: Paved Points of Interest: Franklin Township Nature Park, Zuma Park, Woodhaven Park, Cottonwood Park, two covered bridges, lake fishing access FTGT Windy Point State Park Trail This paved trail is located on the southeast side of Grand Lake St. Marys on Windy Point, a rocky jetty that protrudes out into the lake towards Safety Island. This scenic trail has a full view of the lake from both sides. It is great for biking, walking and running, and has fishing and swimming access, as well as a picnic area. Distance: 1.0 miles Surface: Paved Points of Interest: Windy Point State Park, lake swimming and fishing access, shelter house, picnic area WPSP Prairie Creek Wetlands Trail This crushed stone trail is adjacent to the Franklin Township Greenway Trail and meanders through the Prairie Creek Wetlands where you can view abundant wildlife among the three ponds. Distance: 1.3 miles Surface: Crushed stone Points of Interest: Wetlands habitat PCWT Gilliland Nature Sanctuary Trail This scenic trail winds through 80 acres of prairie grass and wooded wildlife in the Gilliland Nature Sanctuary. The trail features information stations and an observation tower overlooking woodland, wetland, and prairie habitats. Parking is available at South Shore Sportsman’s Club, 5380 Club Island Road. Distance: 1.0 mile Surface: Grassy trail Points of Interest: Gilliland Nature Sanctuary, trail information stations, observation tower GNST East Bank Path This 2 mile paved stretch is situated along the east bank of Grand Lake St. Marys and can be accessed on Parkway Drive off of SR 364. It has a full view of the lake and winds its way through Grand Lake St. Marys State Park. It is great for biking, walking, running, skating. Distance: 2 miles Surface: Paved Points of Interest: Grand Lake St. Marys State Park, shelter houses, picnic areas, fishing piers, dog park EBP State Route 703 Bike Path This 9 mile bike route runs on wide marked shoulders along State Route 703 on the north side of the lake between Celina and St. Marys. This path is for the experienced rider, as traffic can be heavy at times. Distance: 9 miles Surface: Paved Points of Interest: Northwood Lighthouse, Anderson State Park, lake swimming and fishing access, shelter house and picnic areas, Greater Grand Lake Region Visitors Center, State Park Office, State Camp Grounds 703BP Miami-Erie Canal Towpath Trail This historic 40 mile hiking trail runs along the scenic Miami and Erie canal. Various forms of Ohio canal history such as canal locks, aqueducts, and a canal boat can be found along the trail, which parallels State Route 66 from Delphos to Fort Loramie. This path provides a great place to walk or run and enjoy nature’s beauty. Distance: 40 miles Surface: Crushed Stone, Dirt, Grass Points of Interest: Komminsh Legacy Park, Lockkeeper’s House, Bicycle Museum of America, Lock 2 North, Kuenning-Dicke Nature Park, Memorial Park, Memorial Covered Bridge, Belle of St. Marys Canal Boat, Tumbles, 40-Acre Pond, Bloody Bridge, 6-Mile Creek Aqueduct, Deep Cut Historic Park MECT Dr. Elizabeth Yahl Kuffner Nature Preserve Trails The nature preserve lies just north of St. Marys, along County Road 66A, one mile north of St. Rt. 33. There are 3 hiking trails that wind through the 15.8 acres of native woodland, stretching a total of 1.4 miles. Distance: 1.4 miles Surface: Woodland trail Points of Interest: Woodland habitat KNPT Riverwalk Path The Riverwalk is a beautifully paved path with striking water views along the Auglaize River linking historical downtown and surrounding Wapakoneta areas together. Distance: 1 mile Surface: Paved Points of Interest: Wapakoneta Water Park, Harmon Park, Belcher Park RWP Veteran’s Memorial Park Path This one mile walking track runs around the border of Veteran’s Memorial Park and includes multiple physical challenge stations. The park is located at 700 S. Wagner Street in Wapakoneta and has baseball fields, basketball courts, soccer fields and a playground. Celina-Coldwater Path

This 10 foot wide, tree-lined, shaded path was once an old railroad bed. The path stretches through the countryside and fertile farmland connecting the towns of Coldwater and Celina. It is ideal for biking, walking, running, and skating.
