South African art is the visual art produced by the people inhabiting the territory occupied by the modern country of South Africa. It’s an exquisite form and the idea of the paintings usually come from the tribes or people living in Africa. They also paint a lot of patterns. The art education is unique in Africa.

United Nations voting record South Africa has joined China and Russia in voting against a United Nations (UN) resolution on the “promotion, protection and enjoyment of human rights on the internet”. In a vote that surprised many, the South African delegation to the United
Nations abstained on a key vote in the UN Human Rights Council to appoint an
independent watchdog on sexual orientation. The resolution passed with 23
votes for, 18 against, and 6 abstentions.

compared to most countries. Most emigrants from South Africa state that crime was a big factor in their decision to leave. The South African Police
Service is responsible for managing 1,115 police stations across South Africa.
The types of crime are – MURDERS - Around 49 people are murdered in South Africa each day. RAPE - he country has one of the highest rates of rape
in the world, with some 65,000 rapes and other sexual assaults reported for the
year ending in March 2012. KIDNAPPING - Kidnapping in South Africa is a common in the country with over 4100 occurring in the 2013/2014 period, and
a child going missing every five hours.

Historical Perspective (Monuments &
lessons from history)
Unveiled in 1986 in Port Elizabeth’s Fleming Square, this
monument is dedicated to the king-priest Prester John. The
monument commemorates the Portuguese explorers who
landed around the coast of South Africa, in the late
15th century, under the rule of Prester John. Fleming

As the oldest surviving colonial building in South Africa,
the Castle of Good Hope has seen the development of a
very diverse nation. Originally intended as a replenishment
station in Cape Town, the building took shape under the

The 1820 Settlers National Monument celebrates the
contribution of South Africa’s first English speakers and

National Flag & Why Adopted on April 27, 1994, the flag of South Africa was designed to symbolize unity. The red, white and blue colours were taken from the colours of the Boer Republics. The yellow, black and green are taken from the African National Congress flag. Black symbolises the people, green the fertility of the land, and gold the mineral wealth beneath the soil.

The country’s national
animal is the springbok (Antidorcas marsupialis),
which gets its common name from its
characteristic pronking or leaping display – from
the Afrikaans word pronk. The beloved animal has
lent its name to the South African national rugby
team, fondly known as ―the Boks‖ or ―die Bokke‖.

protea (Protea cynaroides) is found in the

The real yellowwood (Podocarpus latifolius), a member of an ancient family of trees, is found across South Africa, from Table Mountain, along the southern and eastern Cape coast, in the ravines of the Drakensberg up to the Soutpansberg and the Blouberg in Limpopo.
