WILDCAT WELCOME WEEK AUGUST 2016 INFORMATION

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Welcome to the 2016-2017 school year! School starts on Wednesday, August 17, and we are looking forward to welcoming your students to a great school year! We have enclosed information and forms that you will need to get ready for a smooth start and a successful school year. Please look them over, and also check out the Back-to-School tab on the Davidson website for more information. The week of August 8-11, 2016, is Wildcat Welcome Week for Davidson students. This gives students a time to take care of school chores and get ready for the first day of classes. The times for each grade are listed below. We look forward to seeing all of our students on August 17, as we start another great school year at Hilliard Davidson!

Wildcat Welcome Freshman Focus Orientation Camp

Monday, August 8 8:00 am – 1:00 pm Tuesday, August 9 8:00 am – 12:00 pm

Freshmen, get ready for two great days of learning and fun at this year’s Freshman Focus Orientation Camp.

On the first day of camp, students will meet their Focus teachers and student mentors who will work with them at camp and in the yearlong, daily Focus program. During the Focus camp, freshmen will get their student ID cards and class schedules, find their lockers, pick up textbooks and iPads, meet teachers and upperclassmen, and have fun with other members of the Class of 2020. The Monday camp will finish up with a hot dog lunch, and the Tuesday camp will end with the traditional spirited camp rally in the gym!

Wildcat Welcome Upper Grades

Grade 12 Grades 10 & 11 Wednesday, August 10 Thursday, August 11 12:00 Noon – 3:00 pm 8:00 am – 12:00 Noon ID photos ID photos Pick up schedules, books & iPads Pick up schedules, books & iPads The first step for students at the Wildcat Welcome is to get a school photo ID. Once students have IDs, they will move to the Media Center for schedules, books and iPads. Students may also pay their school fees and buy a parking pass and a Davidson planner.

Miscellaneous School Information

School Pictures: The HR Imaging photographers will photograph all students for school ID cards free of charge during Wildcat Welcome and Freshman Orientation Camp. Students who wish to purchase student photo packages will need to pay when the pictures are taken. HR Imaging Partners, the photo company, will mail picture order forms to homes prior to August 6. If you would like to purchase pictures of your student, watch for the order form in your mailbox. Students must pay for picture packages when the photos are taken, or may use the online payment option (https://shop.hrimaging.com) ahead of time. There will be additional Picture Days after school starts. August 19 10:00 am – 1:00 pm September 29 10:00 am – 1:00 pm

Student Planners: We have produced a daily calendar/planner for Davidson students with important Davidson dates listed in the book. Each freshman student will receive one planner, free of charge, during Freshman Focus Camp. Students in grades 10, 11, and 12 may purchase the planners for $5.00 each in the Main Office, while supplies last.

School Fees and Parking Registration: Parents and students can pay school fees and parking fees both at school and through My Payments Plus (https://mypaymentsplus.com). Students who park a car at school must purchase a Davidson parking permit, $36 for the year. Students who start driving later in the school year will pay a pro-rated cost, reduced by $9 for each quarter (a nine-week grading period). If you pay for parking online, the student will need to come to the high school office to turn in a completed Parking Registration Form (also on the Back-to-School tab) and to pick up the parking pass.

Student Accident & Illness Insurance: The 2016-2017 application for student insurance is now available online at our district website www.hilliardschools.org/news/forms. Please complete the application and mail it directly to the insurance provider listed on the application form. If you are interested in the student insurance plan, but do not have online access, please contact your school office or athletic department for paper forms.

Free and Reduced Price Lunch Program: Your children may qualify for free or low cost meals at school if your household income is within the reduced price limits on the Federal Income Chart. The application form is very short and, if you have more than one student, you can include everyone on one application form. EVEN IF YOUR STUDENT WAS IN THIS PROGRAM LAST SCHOOL YEAR, YOU MUST APPLY FOR THE PROGRAM AGAIN FOR THIS SCHOOL YEAR. Forms are available on line at www.hilliardschools.org/news/forms, and in all school and district offices. You may return completed forms to any school office.
