Dear “Big Red” Family,

This is Principal Gary Brady with some summer updates.

■ Teachers report back on August 2nd and students on Wednesday, August 10th!

■ Ninth-Grade students and those new to Hillsborough High School: Orientation will be held on Monday, August 8th, from 4:30pm – 5:30pm, followed by an Open House, from 5:30pm – 7:30pm

■ 10th, 11th and 12th Graders: Open House will be held on Monday, August 8, 2016, from 5:30pm – 7:30pm

■ 2015-2016 saw an overall 1% increase in Attendance and a 50% decrease in student suspension days. We also saw a 25% decrease in discipline incidents

■ Hillsborough High School had the largest gains of any high school in the district on the TELL and SCIP Climate Surveys

■ Hillsborough High School ranked #1 in the District in IB Diploma Rate (96%) and Bottom-Quartile Math Learning Gains (39%). In addition, we saw increases over last year in 10th-Grade Reading, Algebra 2 and Geometry, as well as an increase from 15th to 14th Place in Total Points.

■ Hillsborough High School tested 97% of our students!

■ First Football Game: August 19th, at Home, vs. East Bay

■ First JV Football Game, September 1st vs. Jefferson (Home), First Golf Match, August 23rd vs. Steinbrenner (Away), First Cross Country Meet, August 31 vs. Lennard (Away), First Volleyball Match, August 22nd vs. Middleton (Away), First Swim/Dive Meet, August 15th vs. Gaither (Home)

■ This summer, we were able to install an additional 70+ Security Cameras, as well as hire a full-time Assistant Teacher to help with Student Affairs, safety, security and visibility

■ Student individual Score Reports for ELA, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry, Biology and US History will be available to be picked at HHS, beginning Monday, July 25, 2016

■ Back to School Sales Tax Holiday, August 5th – August 7th
