    Serving the residents of Hillsborough and

    Flagtown, Hillsborough Township's

    Department of Parks and Recreation

    maintains 19 parks and athletic facilitiesand offers recreational programing for

    residents of all ages and abilities.

    Recreational opportunities are endless in

    Hillsborough. Each park offers unique facilities

    and has its own feel. From active pursuits such

    as basketball, soccer, and jogging, to more

    lesiurely pursuits such as birdwatching, there is

    something for everyone at a Hillsborough park.

    Of the over 10,000 preserved acres within in the

    township, parks play a vital role to allow

    residents to explore nature, learn new hobbies,

    care for our environment, and be healthier.

    Explore Our Parks and Facilities

    Facilities maintained by the Department offer a

    ariety of opportunities to satisify nearly all

    recreational interests.

    nn Van Middlesworth Park in the center of

    town features softball and baseball fields, a skate

    park, a picnic area, basketball courts, fishing

    pond, and a Universal playground, with over 27

    DA accessible

    play components.

    VM Park is

    always full of

    activity.

    From bucolic

    hiking trails at Otto's Farm Park where

    residents can explore nature and

    ildlife, and Singley Park, a

    recreational paradise set in the hills of

    the western end of the township, to

    Docherty Park with lighted softball

    fields on the northern side of town,Hillsborough's parks are numerous, and

    always close to home waiting to provide

    residents an opportunity to get outside,

    play, be active, and no matter the

    passion or pursuit.

    Play and Participate in Programs

    The Department offers year-roundrecreational programming for residents

    of all ages and abilities.

    Children as young as four years old can

    start participating in the tiny sport

    series, a variety of different classes teaching the

    fundamentals of various sports, all while

    emphasising fun.

    Basketball, soccer, volleyball, golf, and tennis

    classes are offered at certain times during the

    ear for children looking to learn a new sport,

    or continuing to improve their skills in a sport

    they already love.

    Youth soccer leagues fill the fields in the spring

    and fall, while girls softball leagues are in the

    spring, and basketball leagues are held indoors

    in the winter and outdoors in the

    summer.

    There are

    also programs

    for adults,

    including open

    gyms for

    basketball and

    olleyball.

    oin Us for Special Events

    The fun doesn't just stop at parks and programs.

    Each spring runners and walkers

    participate in the Run Around the

    Park 5k, held at Ann Van

    Middlesworth Park. Veterans and

    community groups honor our

    nation's soldiers at the Memorial Day

    Parade and Ceremony at the Gardenof Honor.

    The town gathers each summer for

    the Independence Day Celebration

    ith family fun and fireworks. Family fun

    continues in the summer with the Family

    Campout and David Thomas Memorial

    Fishing Derby.

    Children dress up in their costumes for theHalloween Party

    in October and

    can meet Santa

    at the Christmas

    Tree Lighting

    each December.
