The Lusitania Bank was robbed by a suspect who handed a teller a black bag and a threatening note that demanded money. The teller complied and put an estimated $5,000 into the bag and returned it to the man. The suspect then turned and left the bank, walk- ing east on Fitzpatrick Street. The suspect was described as a white male about 23 years old, about 6 feet tall with pale com- plexion, freckles and brown eyes. He was wearing a cold weather facemask, a black North Face jacket, and black pants. If anyone has any infor- mation about the identity of the subject or this incident they are asked to call the Hillside Police Detective Bureau at 973-926- 5800. This incident is being jointly investigated by the Hillside police detective bureau and the FBI. Video footage from a security camera at Lusitania Bank in Hill- side shows a suspect handing a note to a bank teller. Clark Kemar Cameron, 23, of Brooklyn, N.Y., was arrested on Feb. 10 at 2:40 p.m. on Central Avenue for credit card fraud. The arrest was made by Officer Brian Renda. • Thomas Will, 46, of Linden, was arrested on Feb. 13 at 8:44 p.m. in the vicinity of North Stiles Street in Linden for shoplifting merchandise from ShopRite Super- market in Clark. He was also charged with eluding police and resisting arrest. The arrest was made by Officer Christian Lott. Cranfortl • Daniel Gold, 25, of Freehold was arrested on Feb. 10 at 1:15 a.m. on Raritan Road. A 1999 Pontiac Grand Am was stopped for erratic driving on Rari- tan Road. During the course of the POLICE BLOTTER investigation, police located two suspected marijuana cigarettes in the possession of Gold, who was the passenger. He was arrested for possession of marijuana and pos- session of paraphernalia. The driv- er, a 27-year-old male from How- ell, was issued a summons for fail- ure to maintain a lane and released at the scene. • Yolanda Watson, 42, of South Plainfield was arrested on Feb. 11 at 1:08 a.m. on Raritan Road. A 2005 BMW was stopped for driv- ing in the opposing traffic lanes on Raritan Road westbound after turn- ing from Centennial Avenue. After an investigation at the scene, police. arrested the driver, Watson, for allegedly driving while intoxicated and failure to keep right. • James Smith, 21, of Elizabeth; Robert Schaarschmidt, 20, of Cran- ford and Robert Backof, 22, of Cranford were arrested on Feb. 11 at 1:46 a.m. at 6 South Ave. West. The three subjects were arrested when police responded to a report of people observed leaving the building that formerly housed Blockbuster Video. It was deter- mined that the three arrested sub- jects had entered through an unse- cured door. At the time of the arrest, it did not appear that any property was stolen or damaged during the inci- dent. All three subjects were processed and charged with crimi- nal trespass. • Ronald Hill, 45, of Newark was arrested on Feb. 12 at 8:15 p.m. at Centennial Avenue and Rar- itan Road. A 2004 Mercedes Benz was .stopped for having an inoperable brake light. A rear seat passenger in the vehicle was observed to have an open container of alcohoi in his possession. During the course of the encounter, this person provided a false name and false identifying information to police. Further investigation revealed the same passenger, later identified as Hill, to be in possession of a suspected marijuana "blunt." He was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana, possession of parapher- nalia and hindering apprehension. Hill was also cited for having an open container of suspected alcohol and failure to wear a seatbelt. The' driver, Scott Brown, 21, of Newark and the front seat passenger, Mitchell Coleman, 22, of East Orange were both arrested for out- standing traffic warrants from Essex County. Brown was issued summonses for suspended license and maintenance of lamps. • Tyler Miller, 18, of Linden and .loshual Thomas, 19, of Rahway were arrested on Feb. 12 at 12:37 a.m. at Raritan Road and Coieman Avenue. According to reports, a 1995 Acura Integra was stopped for seat- belt violations. After a brief investi- gation at the scene, police recov- ered a partially-smoked, suspected marijuana cigar and a small bag of suspected marijuana. The driver, Miller, and front seat passenger, Thomas, were arrested for posses- sion of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Miller was also cited for possession of controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle and Thomas was cited for failure to wear seatbelt. Linden • Carlos A. Carvajal, 47, of Eliz- abeth, was arrested on Feb. 14 at 7:44 p.m. in connection with a shoplifting incident at Kohl's Department Store. A loss prevention officer informed police that he observed an individual, later identified, as Car- vajal, grab five bottles of men's cologne and walk into the dressing room. When he emerged from the dressing room, the security officer no longer observed the cologne. The suspect then walked out of the store to the parking lot. The loss prevention officer 1 confronted Car- vajal, who took off running through the parking lot and onto South Park Avenue. Responding police officers observed Carvajal on the corner of South Park Avenue and East Linden Avenue and detained him until he was identified as the shoplifter by. security. Officers then re-traced CarvajaPs path of flight and located the five bottles of cologne, valued at about $273, discarded near some shrubs adjacent to the TGI Fridays Restaurant. Carvajal was arrested and charged with shoplifting. • At 3:26 p.m. on Feb. 16, a col- lision occurred involving a school bus and motorcycle'at the intersec- tion of Route 27 and Nora Drive in Linden. A 2003 GMC Blue Bird yellow school bus owned by George Drap- per Inc. of Iselin and operated by Ronnie A Harmon, 54, of Plain- field, was traveling eastbound on Route 27 and attempted to make a right turn from the left lane onto Nora Drive. A 2009 Yamaha YZF motorcy- cle operated by Alexander Daza, 26, of Roselle was traveling east- bound on Route 27 in the right lane when he collided with the passen- ger side front of the bus. The driver was ejected from the bike and land- ed under the bus near the rear wheels. There were no passengers on the bus other than an aide, Eve- lyn Brown, 77 of South Plainfield. Neither the driver nor the aide were injured. Daza, who was wearing an approved helmet, was transported by NorthStar medevac to Universi- ty Hospital for internal injuries. Harmon was issued a summons for careless driving and Daza was issued a summons for an unregis- tered and uninsured motor vehicle. • Victor Jackson, 50, and Ronald Yvone McLeod, 45, both of Newark, was arrested on Feb. 12 at 10:08 p.m. Police responded to the Conoco Phillips Refinery on South Park Avenue on a report of trespassers on the property. Officers spoke to a security guard who said she observed two males with hoods and dark clothing enter the refinery property from an access gate near the N.J. Turnpike. These individuals fled when they observed the guard in her vehicle. Police responded to the area of the Turnpike Entrance and observed the males fleeing along the fence line. The suspects were ordered to stop at gunpoint and complied. Jackson and McLeod were placed under arrest and charged with burglary and criminal mis- chief. It was later discovered that the suspects used boltcutters to gain access to the property through the fence. The suspects may have been attempting to steal scrap metal from the property. The arrest was made by Officers Paul Zack and Ian Conk. The inves- tigation is being continued by the Detective Bureau and the Counter- Terrorism Unit. Criolioaraujo, 26, of Paterson, was arrested on Feb. 2 at midnight at Summit police headquarters for theft of moveable property. • Eric D. Williams, 43, of Pater- son, was arrested on Feb. 2 at 6:58 a.m. at the railroad station for tres- passing. • Frank H. Popola, 52, of Union, was arrested on Feb. 2 at midnight at Summit police headquarters for possession of suspected heroin. • Vonetta S. Sterling, 30, of Plainfield, was arrested on Feb. 3 at 3:29 p.m. at Summit police head- quarters for contempt of court. • Jasmin Koljenovic, 30, of Plainfield, was arrested on Feb. 4 at 11:42 a.m. for using a cellular phone while driving, driving with a suspended license, and failure to exhibit a driver's license. • Stanley A. Udoh, 35, of Sum- mit, was arrested on Feb. 5 for driv- ing while intoxicated. • Dam ion G. Stewart, 26, of Orange, was arrested on Feb. 7 at 10:11 a.m. at Franklin Place for contempt of court. Union • Pierre N. Dorvihna, 23, of Union was arrested on Feb. 13 at 9:06 p.m. on Colonial Avenue and was charged with obstruction of justice. Dorvilma was placed under arrest during an investigation after refusing to follow police instruc- tions as well as providing officers with false information. The arrest was made by Police Officer Christopher Conners. • Victoria A. Jimenez, 21, of Union was arrested on Feb. 11 at 11:32 p.m. on Oregon Street and was charged with obstruction of justice. Jimenez was placed under arrest. During the course of an investigation, she allegedly pushed officers and attempted to close a door on them. She also resisted arrest by flailing her arms and kick- ing. The arrest was made by Police Officer Keith Brochu. • Michael M. Guirguis, 26, of Bayonne was arrested on Feb. 12 at 4:50 a.m. on Chestnut Street and Kawameeh Drive and was charged with driving under the influence and resisting arrest. The arrest was made by. Police Officer Nicholas Katsock. • Jonathan W. Protopapas, 32, of Union was arrested on Feb. 13 at 7:17 p.m. on Grove Road and was charged with unlawful possession of weapons. Protopapas was arrest- ed outside of his residence after being found to have been in posses- sion of a metal pipe during an argu- ment in the street while allegedly exhibiting disorderly conduct.
