HILUX – PARTITION and CEILING SYSTEMS
Welcome, to the world of innovation. HILUX partition & ceiling systems from Ramco Industries Ltd. are complete
& innovative solutions for building interiors. These systems possess versatile properties by the virtue of the high
quality products that goes into them, like HILUX - Calcium Silicate Board, CalSiPlast - Jointing & Finishing
Compound, CalSiSteel – Metal Framing Sections & CalSiDecor – Acoustic & Designer tiles. Ramco also
conducts PAN India training programs periodically to train & update the system applicators regarding the
application intricacies & developments so as to provide its clients with flawless, beautiful & enduring interior
systems. These systems can be & have been used successfully even in semi-exterior areas, which are moderately
exposed to environmental impacts. HILUX dry wall systems also provide varied levels of sound insulation
depending on the system design.
HILUX – Calcium Silicate Board with TOBERMOLITE Gel is manufactured with technical know-how from A & A
Material Corporation, Japan. Due to the material of construction, this board gives superior thermal insulation & fire
resistant functionalities. During manufacturing, these boards are transformed into robust crystalline structures
through HPSC (High Pressure Steam Curing) process in autoclaves with further consolidation by HTAD (High
Temperature Air Drying) systems. Yet, HILUX is very light in weight because of the specially formulated
Tobermolite gel. These co-existing features go as prime considerations when it comes to the installation of the
partition & ceiling systems in Hi-rising buildings. Unlike other contemporary drywall material, HILUX has got some
core properties like water, bacteria & termite resistant, which virtually makes it a maintenance-free new-age
building solution.
CalSiPlast – Jointing & Finishing Compound is a specially formulated powder for drywall systems, manufactured
with stringent quality control, which is gives it improved adhesive strength. Its fine mesh size helps in forming a
consistent paste after mixing with water that ensures a smooth finish of joints & surfaces.
CalSiSteel – Metal Framing Sections are Galvanized Iron (GI) sections that form the skeleton of the partition
systems. These are coated with 127 gsm zinc, which is considered as the toughest coating for any metal. With
proper installation, these metal sections provide a robust base to the drywall systems & protect the joints from
mechanical shocks & vibration affects.
CalSiDecor – Acoustic & Designer tiles are novel products marketed by Ramco to enhance the internal beauty &
harmony of building interiors. Carved out of HILUX boards, these tiles retain core properties of the board, while
their exquisite designs give additional functional benefits of sound absorption & aesthetic touch. CalSiDecor
Acoustic tiles have superb sound absorption property, which is very critical for multiplexes, auditoriums, large
conference halls etc.
Above all, the HILUX partition & ceiling systems give excellent value for money with benefits exceeding
much more than the cost in long run, making these worthwhile investments.

Type – Non load bearing
Overall thickness – 66 mm
Maximum Height – 3000 mm
Sound Insulation (100-3150 Hz) – 39 dB
Main System:
66 mm thick metal stud partition comprising of a composite framework which includes a 48 mm stud of
0.55 mm thick and having two unequal flanges of 48 and 50 mm each placed at 610 mm center to center
in 50 mm floor and ceiling channel with two equal flanges of 32mm each fixed to floor and ceiling at
600mm center, with the help of nylon sleeves and wood screws. One layer of 8 mm thick Hilux board is
then screw fixed by 25 mm long self drilling and tapping screws having Phillips head with under head
cutter, to the studs and channels on both sides of the frame work. The board‟s joints are to be staggered to
avoid through passage.
Jointing and Finishing:
Finally edges of the facing boards are to be jointed and finished so as to have a seamless finish which
includes filling and finishing with specially formulated jointing compound and self-adhesive fibre tape.
Cement Primer (Oil based) to be provided on entire surface before putty/ painting.
Note: Acoustic sealant is provided on the perimeter of the partition and also with any type of opening like doors,
windows etc. A horizontal bracing channel is to be provided for every 3 feet level on both sides, if the partition
height exceeds the board length to provide edge support to the board.

JOINTING & FINISHING with CalSiPlast
Hilux Calcium Silicate boards are available with Tapered and Square edges. The joints of these boards
can be jointed & finished by using specially formulated Jointing Compound and fibre tape, to get
seamless finish. The square edges of the boards can be made tapered (40x1.5mm) at site by using
grinding machine or by chamfering the edges (4x3mm). The corners can also be reinforced with fiber
tape. The procedure is detailed below:
Tapered edge joints:
Step -1(First-coat)
Apply Jointing compound at joint
Firmly embed the 48mm wide self adhesive fiber tape centrally into the joint.
Apply jointing compound on the fibre tape with tapping knife.
Use sufficient pressure to ensure that the tape is firmly placed.
The tape should be free from trapped air/bubbles and this application should be approx. 4” wide.
Remove extra material lying outside of the joint and allow it to dry.
Step – 2 (Second coat)
When the first coat is dried, apply second coat of jointing compound to the joint.
Ensure that the preceding application and tape is completely covered by making this application
wider than the earlier.
Remove extra material and allow it to dry.
Step – 3 (Third coat- finishing coat)
When the 2nd coat is dried, apply a very thin layer of jointing compound to the joint.
Ensure that the preceding application and tape is completely covered by making this application
wider than the earlier and spread it, to remove visibility of the joint.
Feather out joint edges to remove extra material and allow it to dry.
54
Square edge joints:
Step -1
Firmly stick the 48mm wide self adhesive fiber tape centrally onto the joint.
Step - 2
Apply a thin layer of jointing compound over the previous application keeping it 8” wide.
Remove extra material lying outside of the joint and allow it to dry.
Step – 3
Apply a thin layer of jointing compound over the previous application keeping it 12” wide.
Remove extra material lying outside of the joint and allow it to dry.
Make sure that the width of the joints should be as wide as described above. The narrow finished
joints will be more visible than the wider one.
55
Internal & External corner joints:
Fibre tape should be used by folding it from its centre making it in angle shape (24x24mm) to
accommodate both sides of the corners. This folded tape is embedded at corners by using
jointing compound as described above.
Nail / screw finishing:
Nail screw heads should be just below the surface of the board and should not be driven too
deep.
All nail/ screw heads are to be covered with the jointing compound twice to achieve the right
finished surface.
Note:
It is recommended that the square edges of the boards should be made tapered (40x1.5mm) at
site to achieve good results instead of forming “V” groove.
Please make sure the screws are sufficiently & properly driven and there is no movement
between the board and steel section, before starting Jointing & finishing.
Please make sure that sufficient jointing compound is applied between the board surface and the
tape. Please do not depend on the adhesive used with the fibre tape to make it adhesive,
because it may not be sufficient to hold the tape with the board surface.
