President’s Message

Dear Brothers, Sisters and loving young friends,

Jai Shree Ram!

With the blessings of Shri Ram and Maa Durga, 2020 started off with great enthusiasm & joy amongst the

Devotees – Sunder Kand Path & Mata Ki Chowki set the ball rolling for a prosperous New Year, followed by

the vibrant Lohri celebrations on Jan, 12th. Sunder Kand Path by Acharya Ram Naresh Vajpayee and the first

Jagran of 2020 by Sukhvinder Ghosal from Vancouver, Canada was enjoyed by one and all. As per the

tradition of HOM, on the 1st of Jan, New Members were introduced to the Board and the Outgoing Members

were awarded Plaques on completing their Term.

People in large numbers attended the New Year program and enjoyed the festivities. My THANKS to all the

Volunteers who worked hard to make these programs very successful, Special thanks to STAR FOODS FOR

THE SPECIAL PUNJABI TREAT “BHATURE CHOLE”.

LOHRI has always been celebrated in HOM in the Traditional North Indian Style, with the favorite foods,

clothing, songs, customs etc. of Punjab. Over the years, this Special Program of HOM has gained much

popularity, and people come to join from far & wide. This year too, despite the rainy/snowy weather, the Event

turned out to be a grand success!!! My special thanks to Special Events Incharge, Mrs. Pooja Sharma and

several other Volunteers who helped in the kitchen to make about 500 Makki ki Rotis and Om Prakash, the

Chef from India House, a local Restaurant, cooked 10 Trays of Saag in the Mandir kitchen. Mona Sharma and

her team of singers, Neha Sobti and her Giddha Team, entertained the audiences with typical Punjabi folk

songs and dances. Everyone was seen dancing to the beat of the Dhol by Ajay Ghai !!!

House of Spices partnered with Hari Om Mandir this year. They set up a stall in the Mandir Basement to

distribute Free Goodies to all the visitors. They were very generous to donate bags full of Snacks items and

Frozen Food items to the public, besides donating $1000/- to the Mandir, on this occasion. My sincere thanks

to them and I look forward to a long term partnership with them in 2020.

Another highlight of January was the Republic Day celebrations, held on the 26th of January. Patriotic Songs

led by Deepak & Mona Sharma, paid a humble tribute to the martyrs of our Motherland. I would like to specially

appreciate all the kids and thank their Parents who prepared energetic dance performances for this occasion. It

is very encouraging to see the Young kids carrying forward the torch of our rich cultural heritage.

I would also like to make a special mention of Pankaj & Ishu Kalia, who celebrated their daughter, Pavika’s

birthday on the 26th of Jan in the temple. Keeping up with the theme of patriotism on this day, they had got

made a special Eggless Cake – as the Indian Tricolor Flag, and with due respect to our Flag, the cake was not

cut, but distributed with a spoon to all the devotees in the congregation. I salute the Family’s spirit: both,

religious and patriotic, and also admire the values they are imparting to their children.

Friends, I would like to invite you all for the upcoming Satyanarayan Katha, Basant Panchami and Maha

Shivratri celebrations in the month of February. Please join us and seek Blessings from God Almighty on all

these special occasions.

I would also like to APPEAL to my Hari Om Parivar & Friends, to come forward and celebrate your personal

joys like Birthdays, Anniversaries, Achievements etc by Sponsoring Sunday Havan & Prasad, or, Mata Ki

Chowki on the 1st Sat of the month. We have an ongoing Calendar, where you can block the dates as per your

convenience. Two or more Families can also join hands to sponsor the food and seek Blessings collectively.
