Regardless of the application, the right door on a shelving system or cabinet can make all the difference when it comes to safety and security. Spacesaver’s hinged door systems include both frame- and bracket-mounted doors designed and manufactured for use in conjunction with Spacesaver’s 4-post and case-type shelving, as well as our welded cabinets (see welded cabinet literature for details). The frame-mounted doors use a separate 4-sided frame that requires drilling into the shelving uprights, providing improved rigidity and a variety of door panel options, while the bracket-mounted doors use brackets that don’t require drilling into the uprights. The versatility of these doors offer a seamless integration into a variety of static and mobile applications of 4-post and case-type shelving as well as welded cabinets—creating limitless storage solutions for any industry, market, or function.

FRAME-MOUNTED DOORS

DESCRIPTION

• Frame-mounted doors are a complete line-up of doors for static or mobile 4-post and case-type shelving and the welded cabinet

• This line-up includes three main door types: single-wall, double-wall, and window with each offering its own distinctive door panel types and feature sets

• The frame-mounted doors install on 4-post and case-type shelving and the welded cabinet using a separate 4-sided frame that attaches to the front of the shelving using self-drilling screw fasteners. One catalog number is for both the door set and the corresponding door frame assembly

DOOR SIZES

• Width

• Minimum = 24”

• Maximum = 48”

• Width available in 1” increments

• Width based on double door width

• Height

• Minimum = 16.5”

• Maximum = 99”

• Static and standard mobile, Door Frame Height = Upright Height – 1.25” (see Figure 1a)

• Wheelhouse Mobile, Door Frame Height = Upright Height – 2.75” (see Figure 1b)

• Height available in 1.50” increments

• Width and height dimensions are referring to door frame width and height

• Door frame size is independent of shelving depth, allowing any shelving depth to be compatible with the door frame

• All frame-mounted doors are available in double doors

• Door frame size is independent of shelving’s upright height. The doors can be shorter in height— e.g. stacked door configurations, but doors cannot be taller than the height of the shelving uprights

DOOR FRAME

• A separate 4-sided frame attaches to the front of 4-post and case-type shelving using self-drilling screws (see Figure 2)

• The top of the frame is flush with the top of the 4-post upright (see Figure 3)

• The bottom of the frame is 1.25” from the bottom of the 4-post upright— for both static and standard mobile applications (See figure 1a)

• There are no seals between the frame and doors

• Each tier must maintain the frame width and frame height size conditions as noted above under “Door Sizes”

• In addition to single- and multi-tier configurations, frame-mounted doors can be placed anywhere along the height of the shelving upright (1.5” increments)

BRACKET-MOUNTED DOOR TYPES

• Standard depth door that fits against the face of the shelving

• Extended depth door provides 1.75” clearance from the front shelf edge to the inside of the door for end tab files

COMPATIBILITY

• Spacesaver bracket-mounted doors are specifically designed and manufactured for compatibility and installation on Spacesaver’s 4-post and case-type shelving

• Upper and lower lock/stop brackets are not compatible with “H” type shelf supports

• Pullout reference shelves may be used in combination with bracket-mounted doors

• Standard depth door and extended depth door are compatible with Spacesaver mobile systems. Consult Spacesaver for specific applications

• Bracket-mounted doors are not compatible with cantilever shelving

• Bracket-mounted doors can be installed on single-face shelving sections, double-face shelving sections or back-to-back shelving sections

• Doors fasten to the supports without special tools

BRACKET-MOUNTED DOORS

DESCRIPTION

• Bracket-mounted doors are an accessory for static or mobile 4-post and case-type shelving, that can be used to close off and secure access to a complete shelving section

• The bracket-mounted doors offering includes a standard and an extended depth version to accommodate end tab files

• The bracket-mounted doors mount to 4-post and case-type shelving using a mounting bracket kit that requires no drilling into the shelving uprights. The door itself is the same for the standard version and the extended depth version, but there is a different mounting bracket kit required for each version

• Bracket-mounted doors require ordering two catalog numbers. One catalog number is for the door kit and one catalog number is for a mounting bracket kit

Page 16: HINGED DOOR SYSTEMSspacenet2.spacesaver.com/Documents/FramedDoors_0416_ProductCatalog.pdfFRAME-MOUNTED DOORS DESCRIPTION • Frame-mounted doors are a complete line-up of doors for

HINGED DOOR SYSTEMS: BRACKET-MOUNTED DOORS

www.spacesaver.com 16

CONFIGURATION

• At the top and bottom of each shelving upright, space must be allowed for attachment of the mounting brackets (see Figure 10). 7.5” is required at the top (including 1.25” for a shelf support) and 6” above the bottom most shelf is required for the door hinge mounting brackets

• “F” type shelf supports must be installed at the top front and bottom front of each shelving section that is receiving bracket-mounted doors, allowing for attachment of the upper/lower lock/stop brackets. These brackets have holes, which allow the door lock rods to pass through, and also have a surface for magnets to contact. Two (2) magnets are provided for each door in a door set

• A special front-base is included. For proper door fit the lower shelf height must be 2.75” from the bottom of the upright

• When combining bracket-mounted doors on the same section of shelving as Spacesaver’s modular doors and drawers, extended depth mounting brackets must be used to ensure lock clearance. Also, note the top and bottom levels must be left open for hinged clearance

• Overall depth of each shelving section will increase by 1” for standard depth door and 2.25” for extended depth door, per shelf face

• E.g., 24” deep double face shelving section will increase to 26” deep with one standard depth door on each face and will increase to 28.5” deep with one extended depth door on each face

• Size end (face) panels accordingly

DOOR SIZES

• Width

• Available in 30”, 36”, 42”, 48” widths

• Width based on shelf width

NOTES• Add an “A” for “keyed like” or a “D” for “keyed different” to the bracket-mounted

door kit catalog number. All doors will be shipped as keyed different unless specified

• “F” type shelf supports are required at the upper front and lower front shelf positions and must be ordered separately

• Mounting bracket kits consist of one upper/lower lock and stop bracket kit, complete with (4) hinged mounting brackets, (2) left and (2) right

• For non-standard heights, contact Spacesaver for pricing. Other heights available upon request

• When combining bracket-mounted hinged doors on the same section of shelving as modular doors and drawers, extended depth mounting brackets must be used to ensure lock clearance. Also, note that the top and bottom levels must be left open for hinged clearance

• Special front base included (2.75” high)

• Office quality full-length recessed handle to match contemporary furniture. Fits all Spacesaver 4-post and case-type shelving, whether static or mobile

• Magnetic catch keeps doors closed without locking

• 2-point key lock, locking both the top and bottom of the cabinet, quietly and effortlessly

• Doors fasten to the supports without special tools

• Doors fit against the face of the shelving and add only 1” (2.25” with extender kit) to the overall unit depth

• Extended depth doors provide 1.75” clearance from the front shelf edge to the inside of the door for end tab files
