1/18 - a r outine student expedition to an area outside Luxor hasuncovered a heretofore unknown Egyptian dig. Wisely assessing theimpor tance of the discovery, the expedition’s leader has called us toaid in the excavation. We are amazed by what we’ve found. 2/4 - our first aerial photos of the areareveal incredible detail. The site isnear ly exactly square with a centersite which has been levelled andappears prepped as though for abuilding site, but there is no ruin orpar tial construction. What was to gothere? A tomb? a Temple?
3/22 - found a br oken tablet today - itdescribes a second site, near ly ten miles away.Sent a team.
3/23 - repor ts fr om 2nd site suggest a huge number of precisely cutstones. Though impossible to be sure, it appears initially that they wereintentionally buried, as though to hide or preser ve the blocks. Why?

These tips will help youassemble the Mystery of thePyramid Jigsaw Puzzle
1 . The fit between the cornerpieces and the face piecesof the pyramid is “tighter”than the fit of a traditionaljigsaw puzzle. This isnormal and gives thepyramid its structure.
2. Be sure that the cornerpieces are well creased. Ifyou give them a good bend, the pyramid will keep itssquare shape. See thediagram on page 2.
3 . Once you’ve figured outhow the puzzle works, group the pieces needed forthe pyramid structure withthe side on which they willbe placed. Keeping themorganized this way makesthe logic of the puzzle moreclear.
4 . Work on each side, or face,of the pyramid singly. When you’ve completed aside of the pyramid, set itaside and proceed to thenext. Lock the four sidestogether only after you’vesolved the mystery.

8/19 - major breakthrough - We’re sure that the outlying site is a key tobuilding the pyramid. Aside fr om a few enigmatic blocks, the pyramidsymbols match exactly those in the outlying site. The whole site is a grid in which the symbols onone side of the pyramid align with those in ourouter dig. They are in near ly the sameorientation as well. We believe the smallerblocks will fall into place aswe continue.
11/4 - Through r ound theclock effor t, we’ve made agreat deal of pr ogress. Stilluntested is how to deal with thosesymbols on the pyramid blocks which do notappear in the sur r ounding dig. We’ll be checkingout a cr oss referencing scheme in the next day or so. Aside note - our supply driver said that as he appr oached thesite, he thought he could make out “facial features” on the sides ofour par tially constructed pyramid. We’ve been so close to the structure forso long, we’ve never noticed, but could this be the pyramid’s secretmessage?
11/8 - the mysterious symbols are a mystery no longer. IInntteerriioorr bblloocckkssmmaattcchh wwiitthh tthhoossee oonn tthhee ccoorrnneerr ssttrruuccttuurreess ((wwhhiicchh hhaavvee aallrreeaaddyy bbeeeennppllaacceedd)). This has pr ovided the crucial information we’ve needed tocomplete each face.

3STOP! You now have everything you need to solve the mystery. Use the solution on the next 4 pages only to check your discoveries!
6/1 - We’ve completed the catalog of blocksat site 2. there appear to be 4 sets ofstones, identical save for symbols on theirfaces - symbols which exactly match manyof those at our base site. We believe thatthey are the structure which was nevercompleted in flattened area here. Withpermission, we’ve begun carefully transpor tingthem here.
7/15 - lengthy consultation with an exper t onEgyptian architechture has convinced usthat what we have here is a pyramid. We’ve made drawings of how it would beassembled using the blocks fr om thesecond site. Strangely, this pyramid lacks aburial chamber. We think it may not be atomb. The symbols lead us to think that itis some kind of ancient message.
7/25 - It took us a long time to figure outthat the cor ner assemblies needed to beworked until they formed a right angle whenseen fr om the top.
