Ayr, Iowa passed away on June 13, 2014, in Alameda. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Diane, son Eugene, daughter Jennifer with her husband Roger Billerey- Mosier and grand- son Jano Mosier Linse. He was a veter- an of the Korean War serving from September 1951 to August 1953 during which time the U.S. Army utilized his skills in mathematics, photography and journalism. Frank was active in the arts and education for all of his life, graduating from William Jewell College and earning a masters of fine arts in playwriting from the State University of Iowa. He was a past member of the Actors’ Studio Playwrights’ group and a continuing alumni member of the New Dramatists. He was associ- ated with The Actor’s Place at St. Luke’s, New York City, for six years; as managing director of that group in 1972, he served on the original board of directors of the Off-Off-Broadway Alliance. Concurrently, for 15 years he was associated with Quintano’s School for Young Professionals in New York City, as head of the English depart- ment and assis- tant principal. In 1989 he was instrumen- tal in founding the Lively Arts Foundation and its resident Central California Ballet in Fresno, along with Diane, who is the organi- zation’s artistic director. Frank served in various roles including stage director, librettist, acting coach and press coordinator. Frank was notable for his out- standing mentorship of young people pursuing lives in the arts and nurturing under-recognized intellects. He will be missed by many for his erudition, creativity and good nature. Frank loved horticulture but preferred the idea of “optimis- tic observances” in memoriam.
