BUDA CASTLE The historical castle and

The Castle District, famous for its Medieval, Baroque, and 19th-century houses, churches, and public buildings

PANNONHALMA ARCHABBEY

The Benedictine Pannonhalma Archabbey one of the oldest historical monuments in Hungary

Founded in 996 Contains: basilica and crypt, Porta Speciosa

(ornate entrance), library, baroque refectory, the Millenium Monument, Our Lady Chapel and an arboretum.

Present uses: archives, Szent Gellért College of Theology, High school, Winery

SOPRON FIRE TOWER The symbol of Sopron Built upon the ruins of Roman walls Originally served as a gate tower of

the town walls The guards indicated the position

of the fire with lanterns at night and colourful flags in daytime, called the attention of the inhabitants to strangers.

The Fire Tower is also a symbol of loyalty. The citizens depicted on the relief

showing reverence to Hungary on the referendum held in 1921
