Woodbury has a decent variety of retail options for shoppers from high-end hair salons to supermarkets, boutiques to a local hometown hardware store. And, Woodbury is home to 36 eateries from mom and pop hoagie/sub shops to worldwide favorites like McDonalds. 4

The two largest employers in Gloucester County also call Woodbury their home.

Inspira Health Network and the County bring with them a host of support service from dental offices to holistic health centers and from law offices to financial planners. There are also many other service based businesses in Woodbury from automotive facilities to printers. You will also find several construction companies, engineer firms and architects throughout the City.5

With over 14 historically registered buildings and sites, Woodbury prides itself on preserving its history and promoting our nations history. Woodbury consistently works with local organizations like Main Street Woodbury and the Greater Woodbury Chamber of Commerce to bring culturally based events and entertainment to the downtown area and our parks to support the arts and the Citys history and show why so many people, both residents and visitors, call Woodbury home!6Within 2 sq. miles, the City of Woodbury has an eclectic mix of businesses. Woodbury is the home to Inspira Hospital with over 5000 employees. Woodbury also serves as the Gloucester County Seat with over 550 County employees. State Highway 45 runs through the downtown providing direct access to Route 295, with over 25,000 cars visiting the City daily.

Woodbury is only 10 minutes from Philadelphia via Route 295. In addition, there are 6 public bus options with three that travel to and from Philly.

In the next five years, the Camden-Glassboro Light Rail Line is scheduled be completed and Woodbury is slated to have two stations. One located on the North side of the City with direct access to the hospital and one located on the South side providing direct access to the downtown.

The Camden-Glassboro Light Rail creates the potential for transit oriented development throughout the City.

In 2009 a redevelopment plan was established providing several opportunities for mixed use, retail and residential development along Broad Street which is the main corridor through the City.

Woodburys Economic Development office works closely with the County Economic Development office, the County Workforce Investment Board, the Gloucester County Chamber of Commerce along with Rowan University and Rowan College to connect potential and existing businesses, as well as developers with a plethora of resources.

The City also works with the SBA (the Small Business Administration) and the EDA (Economic Development Authority) to support state programs like the 2013 Economic Opportunity Act which provides tax incentives for new business ventures as well as expansions that increase employment opportunities.

Woodbury does provide tax abatements and will negotiate PILOTS when necessary to ensure that a development project is successful.

Broad Street (former Dollar Sea) Block 118.01 Lot 8666 N Broad Street (former Webers Cafeteria) Block 125 Lot 20 with potential to obtain Lots 21, 43, 44, 44.01, 45, 45.01 and 45.02 The Citys development goals for the properties are neighborhood-oriented commercial/retail that can include Neighborhood Goods & Services, Food & Beverage, General Merchandise, Apparel, Furnishings or Other and or Nonretail (Office/Medical). The City identified certain properties within the 2009 Redevelopment Plan that have redevelopment potential. These projects range from single building redevelopment plans to larger projects to include full streets and blocks.

The goal is to create neighborhood oriented commercial/retail centers that should include neighborhood goods and services, food and beverages, general merchandise, apparel, furnishings and other non retail services like office and medical facilities.

The City is still seeking developers for these sites so if you are interested please contact Woodburys Economic Development Office.11

Downtown Available Space. . .

For those who are interested in retail space in Woodbury, you have several options from free standing buildings, both modern and historic, to leasable space in shopping complex settings. These are some of the available spaces in Woodburys downtown that would easily accommodate a Hallmark card and gift store, a discount shoe outlet, a hobby shop, a bagel shop or a coffee shop. There is also a liquor license available for anyone interested in opening a restaurant in the downtown. And there are several sites that are still fitted with restaurant equipment.12
