A warm website word of welcome to all who are logging in to remain connected with

their parish community. Wow! These are very challenging times; and I hope that we can soon

return to worship together – but that might be longer than any of us would like. Like you, I

really miss the experience of praying as a faith community; enjoying social interaction, and

working together to serve the needs of our community.

The executive order from our governor to stay home and avoid unnecessary social

contact until April 13 has forced Archbishop Vigneron to sadly announce that Holy Week and Easter Sunday

celebrations will not be offered publicly this year. I encourage you to visit our parish website www.stkenneth.org

with regularity to keep connected with your parish community.

paRisH OFFice clOseD FOR Business

To ensure that we cooperate and support the governor and local health officials during this time the

Archdiocese has asked that all parish offices remain closed for business at least until April 13. In the event of a

pastoral care emergency, please call the office 734-420-0288 and leave a message for me at extension 11. All

emergency phone calls will be responded to in a timely fashion through these coming weeks.

Saint Kenneth is committed to continue to support the Saint Dominic and Saint Christine Outreach

Programs; and continue our effort to support Right-To-Life/Lifespan. During this difficult time, the less fortunate

are even more vulnerable and in need of our ongoing support. Because we are a tithing parish, committed to

“Living the gospel: Sharing our gifts in gratitude” we have the resources to financially help the less fortunate.

Thank you to everyone who have already left donations of food and supported our Lenten giving Crib

program. your generous donations will be distributed to meet the growing demands of our society in this time of

crisis. If you have baby items or food to donate, I ask that you keep them at your home until the parish office and

parish life resumes sometime next month.

Our Christian Service Commission has replaced the Easter Food Baskets with gift cards – allowing Saint

Kenneth to support the less fortunate by “sharing our gifts in gratitude!”

I wish to express my appreciation to all parishioners who have signed up to support Saint Kenneth Parish

through our online giving program. With the governor’s decision to prohibit any large group gatherings we know

that the Archbishop suspended all parish Masses until April 13th. I would like to encourage you to please continue

your financial support of our parish even when we cannot celebrate the sacraments – if possible, please mail your

contribution to the office or consider the option of joining our online giving program.

I am not sure if the governor will extend the prohibition of large gatherings beyond April 13th, but it could

happen. During the COVID-19 pandemic and the temporary suspension of public Masses in the Archdiocese of

Detroit, Saint Kenneth Church still needs your support. Although we are not celebrating Mass as a parish

community, we still have a need to pay our staff, maintain the church building, and, importantly, continue our

outreach ministries. We ask that, to the best of your ability, you continue to make your weekly offertory donations,

either by mailing them to the parish in the weeks to come.

tom’s cOViD-19 thoughts

“Back in my day the only time we started panic buying was when the bartender yelled “last call!

“Until further notice: no one can stop by unannounced.

I’m not sick, I just don’t trust you around my toilet

paper!”

Remain healthy and optimistic!

Have a spirit-filled Lent!

During this time of worry and anxiety, each week i would like to offer some kind of

reflection for you to consider:

let WOnDeR HaVe its WaY WitH Me – ted loder

O god, your gracious Spirit

Moves over the mysteries of living and dying

And is strangely present to me

In the budding of the trees

The call of the wild geese,

A child’s birth,

The light in a friend’s eyes,

The sudden lifting of the heart,

And the deep longing which brings me to you now.

Make me aware of your presence

That wonder may have its way with me,

My passion be released,

My confidence renewed in the depths of your holiness

until, for a moment,

My longing for you be fulfilled

And I know I am really free

To share bread and intimacy,

To laugh and exchange mercy,

To be at ease in my struggles,

Bold in my loving,

Brave in facing down my terror,

Hopeful in the rising music of your kingdom

And graceful in my life becoming

A song of praise ever sung to you.
