HKZ ozonator canopy is a combination of effective grease removal and stylish design. The canopy is equip-ped with an integrated ozonator and a smart control system, that guarantee efficient and reliable cleaning for kitchen exhaust air. The canopy extracts impurities and excess heat from the kitchen, while removing grease from exhaust air with ozone treatment. Ozone treatment ensures that grease and odor problems in the exhaust duct are substantially decreased, resulting in a smaller fire risk and happy neighbors.
Ozonator canopy advantages
Effective two-phase cleaning Phase 1: Mechanical grease separationPhase 2: Exhaust air ozone treatment
Notably increased fire safety
Up to 95% decreased odors
Enables heat recovery
Low operating cost
No consumable parts
Maintenance service
Canopy construction complies with the standard EN 16282-2 Equipment for commercial kitchens – Kitchen ventilation hoods; design and safety requirements.Ozonator technology used in the canopy complies with standard EN 16282-8 Equipment for commercial kit-chens – Installations for treatment of aerosol. Requirements and testing.

FunctionHot and greasy air is sucked through the filters into the exhaust air chamber. The mechanical grease filters collect most of the large grease particles, which drip down from the filters to the grease collection container. Ozone sucked into the exhaust air chamber mixes up with greasy air, continuing to clean it in the exhaust air duct.Turbo Grip air curtain directs the greasy air rising up from the kitchen appliances into the hood and towards the grease filters.Supply air module delivers clean air to replace the extracted greasy air. Supply air is delivered through holes in the front plate and the adjustable extra air holes on the bottom side of the supply air module.Ozonator is located inside the supply air chamber, out of which it sucks the clean air for the production of ozone. The underpressure of the exhaust air sucks the ozonated air into the exhaust air chamber, where ozone starts to break the grease particles.
Construction and dimensionsThe canopy is made of 1 mm thick stainless steel (AISI 304, surface 2K). Duct connections are equipped with a rubber gasket and the supply air chamber is heat insulated to prevent the condensation of steam on to the inner surface of the canopy. For fixing the canopy there are hanging screws in each corner of the canopy roof. All NORDcanopy kitchen canopies are manufactured as custom orders. There can be several modules and they can be shaped completely according to project requirements and special demand.

LightingProfessional kitchen requires functioning lighting, which guarantees the employees good working conditions. ETS NORD professional kitchen canopies use next generation energy efficient LED lights, which can save up to 50% more energy compared to older fluorescent lights.Grease removal canopies use a light integrated into the ceiling of the canopy covered by a casing made of aluminum and glass. Condensation canopies use surface mounted lighting covered in glass fiber reinforced plastic casing, which is attached to the support frame of the condensation plates. Casing protection class is IP66.The size and number of lights is determined based on the size of the canopy, so that there is enough light output for the working space.Luminaries:

Technical data Supply air values per one meter of canopy length.
Facts about OzoneOzone is a colorless gas with a pungent smell that can often be detected by any person at a concentration of 0,02 ppm(0,4 mg/m3). The smell of ozone is similar to chlorine like in a swimming pool.Local protection legislations must be followed when using ozone. In Sweden, for example, the Swedish Work EnvironmentAuthority issues the following hygienic limits for ozone:
• 0,1 ppm (during a working day, 8 hours)• 0,3 ppm (during 15 minutes)
At acute exposure ozone can cause following injuries:• On skin: Irritation and burning feeling• In eyes: Hard irritation, burn injuries and reduced vision• In lungs: Irritated effect on respiratory organs and breathing problems
Always take corrective action and safety precautions if ozone is detected in an indoor environment.

Ozonator electrical connectionsOzonator installation must be performed by an authorized electrician and the installation must abide by national standards and regulations. The interlock displayed in the graph below is mandatory. Typical example of an interlock is to cut off power from the ozonator when the exhaust fan is turned off or loses power. An all-pole safety switch with a break length of at least 3 mm must be installed as well. The ozonator requires 230 V AC and 50 Hz. The alarm panel must be connected to it’s own 10 A slow fuse.
