MEDICAL TRAVEL DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMICWe care about your health and well-being and will do everything we can to help you stay safe especially during the pandemic.

• Telehealth is a good option for care. You can see a health care provider online or by phone without even leaving the house. It’s safe and convenient. Ask your primary care provider (PCP) if they offer telehealth services.

• If you don’t have a PCP and want to use telehealth, you can use HMSA’s Online Care.

• If you need specialty care that isn’t available on your home island, your PCP may refer you to a specialist on another island. If this happens, your PCP will work with us to arrange your care.

Most medical offices and facilities are requiring either proof of the COVID-19 vaccination and/or COVID-19 testing within 72 hours of travel. Some require COVID-19 testing on the day of your visit. If you test positive while on another island for medical services, you won’t be able to fly back to your home island. Please be aware that there are no isolation resources available on Oahu and you’ll need to have your own contingency plan. Please check with the Hawaii Department of Health for current COVID-19 guidelines (https://health.hawaii.gov).

HMSA Akamai Advantage® is a PPO plan with a Medicare contract. Enrollment in HMSA Akamai Advantage depends on contract renewal.

HMSA AKAMAI ADVANTAGE DUAL CARE If your 65th birthday is coming up, you may qualify for HMSA Akamai Advantage® Dual Care (PPO SNP). You can start planning three months before your special day. Here are some tips:

• Enroll in Medicare Part A and Part B. Call the Social Security Administration at 1 (800) 772-1213, Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., or visit ssa.gov.

• Let Med-QUEST know about any changes to your financial situation or respond to any requests to verify your eligibility.

• To take advantage of the benefits highlighted below, we may automatically enroll you in HMSA Akamai Advantage Dual Care in the upcoming months if you’re confirmed eligible.

HMSA Akamai Advantage Dual Care coordinates your Medicare and QUEST Integration (Medicaid) benefits, so you get more benefits at no additional cost:

• $2,500 in dental services, including exams, cleanings, X-rays, fillings, and more.

• $200 every three months to spend on health and wellness products.

• Convenience of telehealth visits, including HMSA’s Online Care.

• The care you need from doctors you choose.

• Dependable, local customer service on the phone or in person.

• Support from health coordinators.

90-DAY MEDICATION REFILLSAs part of HMSA’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic, we’re allowing 90-day refills of maintenance medications at both retail and mail-order pharmacies. This new benefit will help you save valuable time when managing your health.

You’ll continue picking up your medication at your current pharmacy. Instead of a one-month supply, you’ll have a three-month supply plus peace of mind knowing that you’ll have less chance of running out of medication and missing a dose. You’ll also save time because you’ll be making fewer trips to the pharmacy.

Talk to your doctor and pharmacist about scheduling your 90-day refills. Then, you’ll pick up your medications only four times a year.

Please note that specialty drugs and controlled substances (e.g., oxycodone, fentanyl, hydrocodone, diazepam, zolpidem, etc.) are limited to a 30-day supply.

PREGNANT? EARN GIFT CARDS!Congratulations on your upcoming bundle of joy! If you haven’t already done so, be sure to enroll in the HMSA Pregnancy and Postpartum Support Program. At no cost, you’ll get:

• Gift cards for taking care of you and your baby during and after your pregnancy.

• Support from a maternity nurse to complement the care you get from your ob-gyn.

• Referrals to trustworthy resources and services.

• Help with your doctor’s instructions and answers to your questions about care.
