Hockey Prep 2/15/2020 Overview Back to Hockey Prep the Riverbank way. We will have 5 stations – two at the north end, two in the neutral zone and one at the south end. The older kids will be at the south end and will not rotate. The other levels are as below – most kids will have marks on their nametags from last week. White (none): beginner Black: “C” level Red: “B” level Blue: “A” level Green (actually 2 blue dots): Older kids (not all are marked but they know) Station 1 – North West Corner - Forward skating White, Black, Red, Blue: Push/Pull races Kids in pairs Wheelbarrow One player pushes while other is in dip- down position Chariot One payer grabs both sticks and pulls partner who is on knees or belly End over end Players face one another holding each others sticks in each hand. Player facing backwards pulls the other player around in a circular motion to the other side. Now the players are facing opposite directions than at the start. Players continue to altermate pulling each other around and work their way down the ice “end over end” Station2 – Center West – Pucks White, Black, Red, Blue: Puck Monster All kids start with a puck. Coaches try to steal pucks from kids and put them in their basket (puck nets). As pucks disappear, kids must work together and pass to each other to keep pucks from coaches. Station 3 (Center East) Backward Skating White, Black, Red, Blue: Backwards wheelbarrow races - Kids face each other holding one stick in “cross check” position between them. Forward player pushes partner in a backward glide to the other side. Emphasize backward player in seated position. Backwards Chariot Races – Kids face each other each holding one end of each stick with one hand. Forward player squats down and backward player pulls them to the other side. Bumper Butts - kids hold the bottom of their shorts, just above the knee, and skate around backwards trying to bump butts and maintain balance. Station 4 – North East Corner – Games/Agility White, Black, Red, Blue: GaGa Make an octagon w/ borders 1 or 2 balls in middle Players try to knock each other out by batting the ball with hands into other players legs below knee. Any contact below knee is out. Players who are out skate x-overs or scooter pushes around octagon until next round. Every time another player is out, reverse direction. Station 5 - Advanced (Do not Rotate) Push/Pull races Kids in pairs Wheelbarrow One player pushes while other is in dip- down position Chariot One payer grabs both sticks and pulls partner who is on knees or belly End over end Players face one another holding each others sticks in each hand. Overview Back to Hockey Prep the Riverbank way. We will have 5 stations – two at the north end, two in the neutral zone and one at the south end. The older kids will be at the south end and will not rotate. The other levels are as below – most kids will have marks on their nametags from last week.

Station2 – Center West – PucksWhite, Black, Red, Blue:

Puck MonsterAll kids start with a puck. Coaches try to steal pucks from kids and put them in their basket (puck nets). As pucks disappear, kids must work together and pass to each other to keep pucks from coaches.

Station 3 (Center East) Backward SkatingWhite, Black, Red, Blue:

Backwards wheelbarrow races - Kids face each other holding one stick in “cross check” position between them. Forward player pushes partner in a backward glide to the other side. Emphasize backward player in seated position.

Backwards Chariot Races – Kids face each other each holding one end of each stick with one hand. Forward player squats down and backwardplayer pulls them to the other side.
