Winner of countless horology awards, their wristwatches are among the best in the world, on par with the “big boys” of the Swiss watch making profession including its chief rival Omega.
I am pleased to offer for sale the following vintage Longines timepiece, a men’s solid stainless steel, faceted lug model that dates to ca 1954. When I think of mid-century watch designs this is a classic – timelessly elegant and as “in style” today as it was 60 years ago.
Triple-signed, this watch measures 41mm lug tip to lug tip and 33.5mm in width (35.5mm with steel domed crown). This works out to be 1-5/8 inches long by just over 1-1/4 inches wide, not counting the crown. It is powered by its original 17 jewel, 23ZS manual wind Longines mechanism that has been fully serviced by my trusted watchmaker David to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.
The ivory color, matte enamel finished dial is in excellent condition and without flaw – professionally restored to its correct, original status. It features a 60 second incised silver “dot” outer chapter, raised silver numerals and arrow-shape hour markers, original silver metal Dauphine-style hands (with luminous fill) and an original ‘sweep’ center seconds hand. Signed LONGINES below the 12 with applied silver trademark winged hourglass and SWISS at the base of the dial.
The domed acrylic crystal in excellent condition with no flaws. The case is a three-piece design that isSolid Stainless Steel and it is in excellent PLUS condition – complete with sharp, faceted lugs. The matching steel winding crown is unmarked but a very correct style and age so may possibly be original. In excellent shape, it winds and sets smoothly.
Turning the watch over I find that the stainless back lid is in excellent PLUS, absolutely no flaws. It is a screw-down design that is solid and secure with no wear or engravings. Looking inside I find a clean and fully serviced manual wind mechanism, signed Longines Watch Co., Seventeen 17 Jewels – Swiss, [Grade] 23ZS with serial number #9,328,554. This number corresponds with a ca 1954 production date. The inside case is finely engine turned and stamped LONGINES WATCH CO., SWISS – ACIER INOXYDABLE –[Model] 6502-3,

428.
This fine watch has been cleaned, oiled and regulated to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time. Comes fitted with a new 18mm black hand crafted ostrich grain strap by deBeer with matching chrome steel buckle. All in all a fantastic, higher-grade watch from one of Switzerland’s very best, I think the winner is going to be very happy with this one.

Since 1998, Holben's Fine Watches' goal has been happy customers. My longtime favorite U.S. watch firm is the Elgin National Watch Company, a prolific American firm established in 1864 on 35 acres of land donated by the City of Elgin, Illinois (the factory had a National Street address). It was a strategic location, right next to the Galena and Chicago Union Railroad, one of the busiest railways into Chicago, and the Elgin factory would become the focal point of the town.
Elgin would offer its first watch for sale in 1867, marking the beginning of fierce competition with its chief competitor, Waltham, which (ironically) was instrumental in forming Elgin, as two of the original organizers were P.S. Bartlett and D.G. Currier of Waltham fame. Bartlett and Currier would later join the Illinois Watch Co. of Springfield.
Here is a very handsome and near mint example of a men's 1929 Art Deco timepiece in a rounded edge, Hexagon-Form case, much like the plain bezel version of the Illinois “Ensign” model but larger. Set in a three-piece, 14 Karat White Gold Filled case, it measures 37mm end to end and a wide 30mm in width (32m with original crown). This works out to be 1-1/2 inches long by 1-3/16 inches in width, not including the winding crown. It is powered by a high-grade Seventeen Jewel, Adjusted mechanism with gold jewel settings, Elgin’s top of the line in 1929. My trusted watchmaker David has fully serviced its mechanism prior to auction and it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time!
The ivory, matte enamel finished dial is in pristine condition, professionally restored to its correct, original status. This dial features a checkered 60 minute outer track border, raised gold Breguet-style numbers, original blued steel Spade-style hands and a crisp (hexagon

shaped) sub-seconds dial with 60 second outer chapter and sweep original blued steel seconds hand. Signed ELGIN below the 12.
Thesolid glass crystal is in mint condition, a new old stock addition that was (carefully) removed for photos only. The 14K White Gold Filled case is very streamline and understated for 1929 – no over the top engraving here! It is in excellent PLUS condition with absolutely no wear. The guaranteed original white gold finished winding crown is in excellent shape, operating smoothly.
Turning the watch over I note that the back lid is also 14kt white gold filled and in excellent order, no wear or engravings and just a few small scratches. Peeking inside I find a nice full-size fully jeweled (4/0 Size, Grade 487) movement signed ELGIN, U.S.A - 17 JEWELS, ADJ. with serial number #33,189,074, dating the watch to 1929 as per company production records. Look at the gold jewel settings, complete with tiny screws. Finding a 17 jewel Elgin wrist watch from this era is fairly rare, as most were 7 or 15 jewels. The inside of the original case is stamped Cased and Timed by Elgin National Watch Co. – 14K Gold Filled – Wadsworth Quality with case reference number below.
This watch winds and sets very smoothly while keeping great, accurate time. Comes fitted with a wide new 19mm black deBeer ostrich grain leather strap with matching white buckle for a nice look. An understated 1929 Elgin that is sure to please due to its timeless elegance, high-grade mechanism and superb condition…my photos don’t do it justice.

Since 1998, Holben's Fine Watches' goal has been happy customers. Founded by Aaron Dennison and E. Howard, the highly regarded Waltham Watch Company of Waltham, Mass. is one of the grandfathers of U.S. horology, in business from 1850 to 1959 making high quality pocket watches, clocks and wristwatches known the world over. The company adopted the American Waltham name in 1859, having already used such names as Warren, Tracy, Appleton and Boston.
I am pleased to offer for sale the following early Art Deco men’s timepiece from the Waltham firm, a 14kt Solid Green Gold that dates to ca 1920. This watch is in excellent condition, featuring a double-hinged “fold away” case and a top-of-the-line 17 jewel Riverside series mechanism that is beautifully engraved. This is a good size wristwatch for the

time period, measuring 40mm end to end and 30.5mm in width (34.5mm with original green gold Onion-style crown). This works out to be just shy of 1-5/8 inches long by 1-3/16 inches wide, without the winding crown. It is powered by its original 3/0 size, 17 jewel Waltham mechanism that has been fully serviced by my watchmaker David to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.
The ivory color, matte enamel finished dial is in excellent condition, professionally restored to its correct status. It features a raised 60 minute gold outer track border, raised gold Arabic numerals, original gold metal hands and a recessed, circular seconds dial with raised number 60 second outer chapter and ‘sweep’ gold seconds hand. Signed WALTHAM in raised gold letters below the 12 and with the dial number 690 embossed at the base of the dial (below the bezel).
The solid glass crystal is in mint condition. The three-piece double hinged case is 14kt Solid Green Gold and in excellent PLUS condition – absolutely no wear whatsoever and both hinges are spotless and secure. Green gold was popular for a brief period (1918 to around 1930) and it is very similar to natural yellow gold but with a green ‘hue’ to it. The original green gold filled winding crown is a handsome “Onion” style and in great shape, winding and setting smoothly.
Turning the watch over I note that the back lid is also 14K Solid Green Gold and in excellent condition with no engravings, spotless. Peeking inside I find a clean and high grade manual wind mechanism, signed A.W.W. Co. Waltham, Mass., 17 Jewels – Riverside, Adjusted with serial number #22,213,715 – dating this watch to ca 1920 based on company production records. The inside of the original case is stamped P.W.C. CO. – 14K and is 100% guaranteed to be 14kt Solid Gold. The PWC Co. stands for the Philadelphia Watch Case Co. (Keystone).
This early Art Deco timepiece has been disassembled, cleaned, oiled and regulated to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time. It comes fitted with a new 16mm black deBeer Ostrich grain leather strap, ready to be worn and enjoyed. So that’s the story behind this larger, Tonneau-form watch – made by one of America’s best watchmaker’s and even nicer than my photos can show.

Since 1998, Holben's Fine Watches' goal has been happy customers. When it comes to searching out watches to buy, I am always happy when I come across a model I’ve never seen before that has a design that catches my eye right away. This is one such example, a men’s early 1960s automatic dress model from the Baylor Watch Company of New York & Switzerland. This Spacemaster model is the very first that I’ve encountered in over 25 years of collecting. It is in excellent ORIGINAL condition, featuring a solid 14k Yellow Gold bezel and 14k gold “capped” lugs over a stainless steel body and back lid. Did you have a chance to see the finely woven dial? My photos do not do it justice.
This triple-signed timepiece measures 40.5mm end to end and 34mm in width (36.2mm with original gold crown) or 1-5/8 inches long by just shy of 1-1/2 inches wide, not including the winding crown. It is powered by its original and high quality Baylor-signed 17 jewel, Swiss made automatic (self-winding) mechanism that has been fully serviced by my talented watchmaker David to ensure and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.
The 100% original silver, enamel finished dial is in MINT condition, untouched since it left the factory and a true “knockout” in person. Features include a 60 second incised gold “dot” outer chapter, applied yellow gold numerals and faceted hour markers, original gold Dauphine-style hands with luminous fill and a ‘sweep’ gold center seconds hand. Signed BAYLOR SPACEMASTERbelow the 12 and SWISS MADE at the base of the dial.
The original hardened acrylic crystal is in excellent condition and clear. The three-piece case is comprised of a 14kt Solid Yellow Gold bezel, 14k gold capped lugs, stainless steel body and stainless, screw-down back lid. It is in excellent PLUS condition. The original yellow gold finished winding crown is in excellent order, winding and setting smoothly.
Turning the watch over I see the screw-down lid is solid stainless steel and in excellent condition, signed BAYLOR WATCH CO., E – SEVENTEEN 17 JEWELS, SWISS. Below the balance wheel it is stamped with the caliber number AS1580 (A. Schild). The inside case lid is finely engine turned and signed MLB - MOD. DEPOSE – STAINLESS STEEL. “Mod. Depose” is French for patented model.
This immaculate vintage automatic has been fully serviced by my trusted watchmaker David to ensure itwinds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time. It comes fitted on a new 18mm black deBeer Ostrich (grain) leather strap with gold finished buckle. This

watch reminds me of similar solid gold bezel Girard Perregaux and Omega models from the same period but with a finely engraved, woven dial that is both unique and striking. If you think this watch may be a welcome addition to your wrist why don’t you place a bid?

Since 1998, Holben's Fine Watches' goal has been happy customers. The history of the Girard-Perregaux Watch Company begins in 1791, when the watchmakers Bautte and Mouline founded a factory in Geneva to manufacture watches. In 1856 the watchmaker constant Girard married Marie Perregaux and the unified firm of “Girard – Perregaux” came into being.
In 1906 Perregaux acquired the earlier firm of Bautte and Mouline, and today the firm is located in La Chaux-de-Fonds. They have always made a name for themselves in the realm of wristwatches through their unique creativity and high quality mechanisms, one of a select few who produce many of its movements entirely in-house. Today, Girard Perregaux watches are among the most expensive timepieces you can buy, making the vintage models a sound investment.
I am pleased to offer for sale the following vintage timepiece from Girard Perregaux, a unique men’s midcentury dress model that dates to the mid 1960s and is in excellent, original condition. This stainless steel, hermetic case timepiece is a European market model, not originally sold in the USA.
Quadruple-signed, its fancy lug case measures 37mm lug tip to lug tip and 33mm in width (35.2mm with GP-signed original winding crown). This works out to be just shy of 1-1/2” in total length by just over 1-1/4” wide, not including the crown. It is powered by its original and higher grade, 17 jewel manual wind Girard-Perregaux mechanism that has been fully serviced by my skilled watchmaker David to ensure it is running well and keeping accurate time.
The 100% original silver, enamel dial is in excellent condition, untouched since it left the factory almost half a century ago. It features a 60 minute outer chapter, incised silver hour markers and original silver steel, Baton-style hands. Signed GP Girard Perregaux below the 12 and Swiss at the base of the dial.
The original hardened acrylic crystal is in excellent, clear condition. The case is a solid stainless steel, one-piece design with removable stainless steel bezel. Note the fancy, “peaked & faceted” semi-hooded lugs, very

unique. It is in excellent PLUS shape, no wear or age at all. The matching steel winding crown is in excellent condition too, winding and setting smoothly.
Turning the watch over I see that the back of the case is in excellent order, stamped with case number #76160254.
As this is a one-piece, hermetic design case I had my watchmaker David take the photos inside (you access the mechanism by removing bezel, crystal and then the two-piece stem). Inside is a higher-grade, gold finished mechanism signed Girard-Perregaux, Swiss – 17 Jewels –2529712. The inside case lid is finely engine turned and stamped GIRARD PERREGAUX, 1791 SWISS – STAINLESS STEEL.
This watch has been cleaned, oiled & regulated to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time. It is fitted on a new 17mm black deBeer lizard grain leather strap, ready to be worn and enjoyed. All in all an excellent, original Mad Men era Retro modern dress watch from one of Switzerland’s best watch companies…the first time I’ve ever seen this unique model.

Since 1998, Holben's Fine Watches' goal has been happy customers. If this isn’t one of the nicest Art Deco timepieces you’ve ever seen I’ll put my dog Carl in a pink tutu and have him dance the “Hokey Pokey” – a truly scarce and beautiful Elgin model.
My favorite among favorite U.S. watch firms is the Elgin National Watch Company, a prolific American firm established in 1864 on 35 acres of land donated by the City of Chicago in Elgin, Illinois. It was a strategic location, right next to the Galena and Chicago Union Railroad, one of the busiest railways into Chicago. By 1867 the first watch was marketed for sale, retailing for $115 (think of that in today’s prices!) and Elgin was soon competing head-on with its chief competitor, Waltham, which (ironically) was instrumental in forming Elgin, as two of the original organizers were P.S. Bartlett and D.G. Currier of Waltham fame.
I am pleased to offer for sale what I think is one of the nicest ladies Art Deco Elgin watch they ever made –a finely engraved and inlaid cobalt blue and black enameled 14kt white gold filled model set with four blue sapphires and two genuine diamonds. This watch retailed for $72 in 1928 – about

$1050 in today’s dollars. This is double the $35 cost of Elgin “Parisienne” models of the same period.
This triple-signed timepiece measures 29mm end to end and 17mm in width (18.5mm with original winding crown). This works out to be just over 1-1/8 inches long by 5/8 of an inch wide, not including the winding crown. It is powered by its original triplex-style, manual wind Elgin mechanism that has been fully serviced by my watchmaker David to ensure it is running well and keeping accurate time.
The antique white, matte enamel finished dial is in excellent overall condition, professionally restored in the recent past. It features a 60 minute checkered outer track border, original blue steel Spade style hands and black Art Deco numbers. Signed ELGIN below the 12.
The solid glass crystal is in mint condition, removed in some photos to avoid glare (now safely secured). The 14 Karat White Gold filled case is a tour-de-force of all things Art Deco, finely engraved and featuring inlaid cobalt blue & black enameling running horizontally across the case bezel. This enameling is in pristine condition with NO wear. Highlighting the case are two (2) genuine diamonds and four (4) deep blue sapphires, all in excellent condition (no flaws) and securely set. The matching white gold finished winding crown is original (correctly unmarked) and in great shape, winding and setting smoothly.
Turning the watch over I note that the back lid is in excellent shape with no wear or engravings. Peeking inside I find an original 18/0 size, 488 grade mechanism that is signed Elgin, U.S.A with serial number # 33,214,307, dating it to 1928 as per production records. The inside of the case lid is stamped Cased and Timed by Elgin National Watch Co., 14k Gold Filled - Illinois Watch Case Co., Elgin with case reference number below.
This timepiece has been disassembled, cleaned, oiled and regulated to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time. It comes fitted on a new 12mm matte black leather strap with matching color buckle (a Hadley Roma that I adapted to fit this solid, wire lug watch). This watch will fit a wrist 5-1/4 inches to 6-3/4 inches in size quite comfortably. Elgin was arguably the best of the American watch makers when it came to Art Deco designs and I would have to say this honestly ranks in the TOP FIVE that they ever did – if you agree perhaps you will consider placing a bid!

Since 1998, Holben's Fine Watches' goal has been happy customers. Founded by Ariste Calame in the City of Le Locle in 1882, the Zodiac Watch Co. of Switzerland has long been a sought-after watch amongst collectors, especially those who appreciate vintage sport and diving watches. The “Zodiac” name was used very early on but was not registered until 1908.
The firm exhibited at the Basle Watch Show in 1949 with the “Datagraphic”, a calendar watch with moon phases and the “Autographic”, a self-winding model with visible power reserve indicator that was the official watch of the Swiss Federal Railways. By the late 1950s the “Sea Wolf” divers watch and “Rotographic” rotor automatic models would be introduced.
I am pleased to offer for sale the following men’s vintage watch from the firm, a Hermetic Calendar model that dates to the mid 1950s and is in excellent original condition. This is the first time I have seen a “Hermetic” model this early as most that come up for sale are from the 1960s. It is a beautiful timepiece with a stunning original textured dial, and RED calendar window and numbers (my photos do not do it justice).
Triple-signed for Zodiac, it measures 39mm lug tip to lug tip and 33mm in width (35mm with steel crown). This equates to just over 1-1/2 inches in total length by just over 1-1/4 inches in width, without the winding crown. It is powered by its original 17 jewel (Zodiac Caliber 1093), manual wind mechanism, fully serviced prior to auction to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.
The 100% original silver, textured enamel finished dial is guaranteed untouched since leaving the factory and in excellent condition. Features include a 60 second gold ‘dot’ outer track border, raised gold numbers and hour indicators, original gold metal Lance-style hands (light age), a RED window date window with semi-quickset date and ‘sweep’ original gold seconds hand. Signed Zodiac Hermetic below the 12 marker, Calendar above the 6 and Swiss at the base of the dial.
The hardened acrylic crystal is in excellent condition with no flaws. The two-piece case is solid stainless steel and in excellent condition – it has not been polished or touched up, just ultrasonically cleaned. The stainless winding crown, unmarked (but possibly original), is in excellent shape, winding and setting smoothly.
Turning the watch over I see that the back lid is a screw-down design with a very cool “double fish” engraving to represent its (original) hermetic design. It is signed Zodiac – Incasecurit – Shock Resistant, Pare Croc

– Swiss, Suisse, Antimagnetic – Water Resistant, Etanche and is in excellent shape. Inside I find a clean, manual wind mechanism (Zodiac 1093 Caliber) that is signed Zodiac W. Ltd.- Seventeen 17 Jewels, Fab. Suisse, KXF - Swiss. The inside of the case back is nicely engine turned and stamped ZODIAC W. LTD., LE LOCLE SWISS - ACIER INOXYDABLE 769.
This timepiece has been disassembled, cleaned, oiled and regulated to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time. It comes fitted with a new 18mm black leather strap with chrome steel buckle. I am also including the stainless steel expansion bracelet that was on the watch when I purchased it, with curved end pieces for a nice look. Being an early calendar watch the date is non-quickset so to advance the date you do need to advance the hands 24 hours. So that’s the scoop on this extra nice vintage “Hermetic Calendar” – very original and even nicer in person.

Since 1998, Holben's Fine Watches' goal has been happy customers. In my travels looking for nice vintage watches I always have my eye out for those “time capsule” pieces, the ones that are in their original boxes and have never been touched up or restored – essentially never worn or if they have been only a few times and safely tucked away. This is one such example, a ladies ca 1950 model in 14kt Solid Yellow Gold from the Lyceum Watch Company, a New York based watch company popular in the 1940s and 1950s who manufactured its pieces in Switzerland. This watch is 100% original right down to the band and blue velvet lined display case and is in excellent condition inside and out.
Its fancy lug case measures 28mm lug tip to lug tip and 14.5mm in width (16.5mm with original, unmarked winding crown). This works out to be 1-1/8 inches long by 5/8 of an inch wide, including the original crown. It is fitted on a black cord bracelet that measures a total length of just over 7 inches (I can size this larger or smaller for the winner at no cost). It is powered by its original and high grade, 17 jewel, manual wind Lyceum Switzerland mechanism that has been fully serviced by my skilled watchmaker David to ensure it is running well and keeping accurate time.
The 100% original silver, enamel finished dial is in excellent condition and without flaw…untouched since it left the factory over 60 years ago. It features raised yellow gold numbers and original gold metal Lance-style hands. Signed LYCEUM below the 12 and SWISS MADE at the base of the

dial.
The original solid glass, curved crystal is in excellent, clear condition. The case is 14 Karat Solid Yellow Gold and in excellent PLUS shape, complete with faceted lugs, very nice. The matching gold finished winding crown is original, unmarked and in excellent condition, winding and setting smoothly.
Turning the watch over I see that the back lid is in excellent – mint condition like the rest of the watch with a finely brushed finish and stamped 14K GOLD at one edge. Inside I find a clean, manual wind yellow gold color mechanism that is signed Lyceum Watch Co., Swiss – Seventeen 17 Jewels – Lyceum, LXP. The inside case lid is stamped 14K GOLD with case number below.
This watch has been cleaned, oiled & regulated to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time. It is fitted on its original black cord band that will fit a wrist up to 7 inches in size and I can easily make it smaller (or larger) at no charge by putting new, longer cord on. It will ship in its original blue velvet (type) hinged display case, signed LYCEUM – THE WATCH THAT TIME MADE FAMOUS on the inside satin lining. It has a rub mark on one of the outside corners but is in very good shape. Well then, that’s the story of this beautiful, midcentury solid 14ct gold dress watch – who is going to be wearing this in just a few days time?

Since 1998, Holben's Fine Watches' goal has been happy customers. I’ve always loved Bulova, an American company of great repute. It was founded by Czech immigrant Joseph Bulova and based in New York City, where the famous Bulova Observatory was located, high above a skyscraper on Fifth Avenue. Like Gruen, it also had a factory in (Bienne) Switzerland, established in 1912 and dedicated to the production of watch components and their assembly into jeweled movements. The firm is known for its aggressive advertising campaigns and for being the first to advertise on radio – with an announcer stating “B – U – L – O – V – A … 8:00p.m., Bulova Watch Time.”
I am pleased to offer for sale the following vintage men’s watch from Bulova, a finely engraved Ambassador Tank model that dates to 1930. This is the first Ambassador model that I’ve had in several years and it is in excellent condition – complete with its original and matching chrome steel Art Deco link

bracelet, as shown.
Triple-signed, its “Bulova Quality” chromed steel case measures 34mm end to end and 27mm in width (29mm with original winding crown). This works out to be approximately 1-3/8 inches long by 1-1/8” wide, including the original crown. It is powered by its original 15 jewel, 10AN caliber mechanism that has been fully serviced by my excellent (Bulova-trained) watchmaker David prior to auction, ensuring it winds and sets smoothly and keeps accurate time.
The original matte enamel finished ivory color dial has been professionally restored to its original status and is in mint condition. This restoration was done to mimic a perfectly aged radium number dial with radium filled hands but the material now used is perfectly safe. It features a 60 minute inner track border, brown Arabic numerals, original blue steel Skeleton hands with fill and a square sub-seconds dial with 60 second outer chapter and ‘sweep’ blue steel seconds hand. Signed BULOVA below the 12 and embossed Swiss at the base of the dial, below the bezel.
The new old stock solid glass crystal is mint condition, made for this very Bulova model. The hinged-back, Tank form case is a “Bulova Quality” stamped chrome steel example in excellent condition, absolutely no wear, scratches or brassing – truly superb. The matching and original winding crown is in excellent shape, and operating smoothly.
Turning the watch over I note that the back lid is in excellent overall shape, gently curved to comfortably fit the wrist and tastefully monogrammed in the center. Inside I find a tried and true 10AN caliber (Fontainemelon) mechanism, complete with a Breguet overcoil hairspring and cut bi-metallic screwed balance. It is signed Bulova Watch Co. Swiss – Fifteen 15 Jewels, [Caliber] 10AN. There is also an Omega type symbol on one of the plates, the firm’s date code for 1930. The inside of the case lid is stamped Bulova Quality - Pat. Jan 11, 1927 with case number below.
This fully disassembled, cleaned, oiled & regulated Bulova “Ambassador” Tank watch winds and sets smoothly and keeps accurate time. Comes fitted on a new 20mm dark black deBeer Paris ostrich (grain) leather strap with matching chrome steel buckle, a fine band for a fine watch. Please note that the original bracelet (as I purchased the watch, un-restored) comes with this watch, in excellent shape. It is signed “Sturdy – Allegheny – Pat. Pend” and will fit a wrist up to 7-1/4 inches. A beautiful and

somewhat harder to find Art Deco model from one of America’s best watch companies – I just may regret selling this one!

Today, Girard Perregaux watches are among the most expensive timepieces money can buy.
I am pleased to offer for sale the following vintage timepiece from the firm, a men’s late 1950s “Gyromatic” (self-winding) model in excellent condition. This watch features a Swiss patented case, a design created by the Piaget Watch Co. and licensed to GP to use.
Quad-signed (dial, crown, case and mechanism), its stainless steel case measures 41mm lug tip to lug tip and 33.5mm in width (36mm including original GP signed crown). This works out to be 1-5/8 inches long by 1-5/16 inches in width, not including the signed winding crown. It is powered by its original and higher grade, 17 jewel rotor automatic Girard-Perregaux mechanism that has been fully serviced by my skilled watchmaker David to ensure it is running well and keeping accurate time.
The ivory color, matte enamel finished dial is in excellent condition – professionally restored to its correct, original status. It features raised silver hour markers and Arabic numerals, original silver steel Lance-style hands with luminous fill (they glow), a 60 second inner track border and a center ‘sweep’ original seconds hand. Signed Girard-Perregaux GYROMATIC below the 12 and SWISS at the base of the dial.
The hardened acrylic crystal is in excellent, clear condition with no flaws. The two-piece, GP-signed case is solid stainless steel and in excellent shape. The original G-P signed winding crown is in great overall shape, winding and setting as it should.
Turning the watch

over I see that the screw-down, stainless back lid is in excellent overall shape with no wear or engravings, very nice. Inside I find a high quality rotor automatic, mechanism that is signed Girard-Perregaux & Co., Seventeen 17 Jewels, 47 GU 750, Swiss – GXM. The inside case lid is stampedGIRARD PERREGAUX 1791 – SWISS – STAINLESS STEEL – BREVET + 279,361. This Swiss patent number was first issued to the Piaget Watch Company for its movement suspension.
This timepiece has been fully disassembled, cleaned, oiled & regulated to ensure it winds and sets effortlessly, keeping accurate time. Like most vintage automatic watches you should always manually wind it 6 to 12 turns before putting it on your wrist. It is fitted on a new 17mm black hand crafted deBeer Paris lizard grain strap with matching chromed steel buckle, a high quality band for a high quality watch. I have owned and sold a number of Gyromatic models over the years and this one is what I would call the “quintessential” model – even nicer than my photos and ready to be worn and enjoyed.

Since 1998, Holben's Fine Watches' goal has been happy customers. Among watch collectors, the Omega Watch Co. of Switzerland, a firm founded by Louis Brandt of Biel in 1848, is one of the most renowned brands of timepieces. In 1894 a new caliber bore the name of Omega for the first time, and since then it has produced some of the finest caliber wristwatches money can buy. Omega is my favorite Swiss watch firm as well, combining those qualities of name brand recognition, high quality and relative value that are important to the seasoned watch collector.
Omega strongly reaffirmed its position as a collector’s brand in 2007 when Antiquorum held its “Omegamania” theme sale in Geneva, Switzerland. The prices realized vastly exceeded pre-auction estimates and set new records for many older models. Yes folks, good vintage Omega watches are only going UP in value.
I am pleased to offer for sale the following vintage Omega timepiece, a ladies 14kt Solid White Gold & Diamonds example that dates to ca 1952. This “cocktail” style watch is in excellent condition inside and out – a mid-century design with cutaway “Fleur-de-Lis” diamond-set lugs that is as elegant today as when it was made in Switzerland 60 years

ago.
Triple-signed for Omega (dial, case & mechanism), it measures 30.5mm lug tip to lug tip and 15mm in width (16.5mm with crown). This equates to 1-3/16 inches long by 5/8 of an inch wide, including the winding crown. It is fitted on a vintage black cord bracelet strap making the total wearable measurement 7-5/8 inches. I can also shorten or lengthen this for the winner at no charge. Its original 17 jewel, manual wind higher-grade Omega mechanism has been fully serviced by my skilled watchmaker David to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.
The ivory color, matte enamel finished dial is in excellent order, professionally restored to its correct original look. It features applied white gold hour markers and original silver steel Dauphine-style hands. Signed OMEGA below the 12.
The domed and curved solid glass crystal is in mint condition, removed in a few photos to minimize glare. The two-piece case is 14 Karat Solid White Gold and in excellent PLUS order, complete with a total of two (2) genuine diamonds on the cutaway “Fleur-de-Lis” design lugs (what detail!) The matching white gold finished winding crown is in excellent shape, unmarked and operating smoothly.
Turning the watch over I note that the back lid is in excellent condition like the rest of the watch and with no wear or inscriptions, just a fine brushed, satin finish. Peeking inside I find a clean Seventeen Jewel, manual wind rose gold finished movement that is stamped Omega Watch Co. - Seventeen 17 Jewels, [Caliber] 212, Swiss, OXG. The serial number of #13,554,910 dates this watch to ca 1952 as per published production records. The inside case lid is stamped OMEGA WATCH CO., 14K GOLD - [Model] 7616 and is guaranteed to be 14k solid white gold.
This watch has been disassembled, cleaned, oiled and regulated to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time. It is fitted with a vintage 1950s black cord bracelet strap that measures 7-5/8 inches in total wearable length. I can also shorten (or lengthen) this for the winner, just let me know your wrist size and consider it done. Folks, this is truly an excellent midcentury cocktail watch – ready to wear and show off your fine “vintage” taste!

Since 1998, Holben's Fine Watches' goal has been happy customers. In its glory years from the 1920s through the 1940s, the Gruen Watch Company of USA & Switzerland was one of the leaders in wristwatch design and quality, even collaborating with Rolex (i.e., the Aegler movement duo-dial doctor’s watch) from its factories in Switzerland. Prior to WWII, Gruen was better known in the USA than Rolex, which at that time was concentrating on the British and Commonwealth countries (hence lots of early Rolexes coming out of Australia and the UK). Hans Wilsdorf and Gruen were friends and neighbors in Switzerland (their factories were just yards away), and even agreed to market their watches as Rolex Gruen in Europe, but the Great Depression (and more urgent matters) prevented this.
I am pleased to offer for sale the following vintage timepiece from the Gruen firm, a men’s “Precision” model from ca 1960 - 1962, complete with its original display case, outer box and guarantee booklet. It is rather unique for having an original and untouched black dial – the vast majority of Gruen dials back then were a silver or

ivory color.
This triple-signed timepiece measures 42.5mm end to end and 34mm in width (36.5mm with original, unmarked, domed crown). This works out to be 1-11/16 inches long by just shy of 1-3/8 inches wide, not including the winding crown. It has been fully serviced and its original 17 jewel, manual wind 510 SS caliber mechanism winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.
The 100% original black, enamel finished dial is in excellent condition, guaranteed untouched since it left the factory 50 years ago. Features include raised silver hour markers, original silver steel Lance-style hands with luminous fill and a ‘sweep’ center seconds hand. Signed GRUEN PRECISION below the 12 and Ra SWISS Ra at the base of the dial.
The original hardened acrylic crystal is in excellent condition. The chromium steel bezel (top section of case) is in great overall shape, a few small surface scratches only. Note the elongated “stretch” lugs. The original domed winding crown, unmarked, is in excellent order, winding and setting as it should.
Turning the watch over I note that the back lid is in excellent shape, retaining most of its original brush finish that it left the factory with. It is stamped Gruen Precision – Waterproof – Shock Resistant – Anti-Magnetic – Base Metal Bezel – Stainless Steel Back. Peeking inside I find a clean Seventeen Jewel movement that is signed Gruen Watch Co., Seventeen 17 Jewels – Swiss, Caliber N510 SS- GXC. The inside

case back is signed STAINLESS STEEL BACK – GRUEN WATCH CO., 510R SS – MADE IN FRANCE. Note how the mechanism caliber number is also stamped on the inside case back.
This watch has been disassembled, cleaned, oiled and regulated to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time. It comes fitted with a new 17mm black deBeer Paris lizard (grain) calf leather Swiss band with matching steel buckle. This timepiece also comes with its outer Gruen-signed dark navy blue and gold outer box and original hinged navy blue display case, marked “GRUEN” on the outside and GRUEN – THE PRECISION WATCH on the inside. It also comes with its Service Guarantee booklet – in mint condition and featuring lots of information and a number of photos taken at the Swiss factory). Note how the New York City address on the back of this booklet lacks a zip code – indicating a pre-1963 print/production date. All in all a true TIME CAPSULE from the early Kennedy years that is a complete package – you won’t be disappointed.

Since 1998, Holben's Fine Watches' goal has been happy customers. The venerable Concord Watch Company was founded in Bienne, Switzerland in 1908 by two young watchmakers who wanted to create watches of beautiful design that also incorporated the latest in horological innovation. By the early in the 20th century its watches were frequently selected by Cartier, Tiffany & Co. and other high-end jewelers as their own private-label timepieces. A Concord watch was also the official gift of U.S. Presidents to Heads-of-State for many years, a bit of trivia!
I am pleased to offer for sale the following vintage men’s timepiece from the firm, a 14kt Solid Yellow Gold Tank form model that dates to 1946. This late Art Deco (Streamline Moderne) watch is in excellent, original condition – only the deBeer Paris ostrich grain strap is new. Triple-signed, it measures 37mm end to end and 20mm in width (22mm with original, unmarked winding crown). This equates to just shy of 1-1/2 inches long by ¾ of an in width, not including the crown. My great watchmaker Dave has fully serviced its 17 jewel, manual wind Concord mechanism, ensuring it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.
The 100% original silver, enamel finished dial is in excellent condition, untouched since it left the factory almost 70 years ago and with just a tiny speck

or two of age. It features raised gold Arabic numerals, a 60 minute outer track border, original gold metal Baton-style hands and a rectangular seconds dial with 60 second outer chapter and ‘sweep’ gold seconds hand. Signed CONCORD below the 12 and SWISS at the base of the dial.
The solid glass crystal is in excellent, clear condition – removed in some photos to avoid glare but now safely affixed. The two-piece case is 14 Karat Solid Yellow Gold and in excellent PLUS shape, a classic rectangular Tank style. The original yellow gold finished winding crown, correctly unsigned, is in excellent shape and operates smoothly.
Turning the watch over I note that the back lid is in excellent condition with no wear whatsoever. It is engraved Central Lions Club to L.A. Hoeflich, 6-25-46. Taking a peek inside I see that the mechanism has its own metal dust cover protecting it, a nice detail that I have only seen Omega and Elgin do as well during this period. Removing this reveals a clean 245B caliber, Tonneau form mechanism that is signed CONCORD WATCH CO., SWISS, SEVENTEEN 17 JEWELS, CXC. The inside of the back lid is stamped CONCORD W. CO, 14K GOLD – L&K with model number 6897 below. The “L&W” stands for Lutringer & Kammerer, the case makers.
This fully serviced watch has been extremely well cared for and it shows, winding and setting smoothly while keeping accurate time. It is fitted on a new 16mm deBeer ostrich (grain) calf leather strap with gold finished buckle. It has been years since I last offered a vintage men’s Concord watch and this original, late Art Deco model is a beauty – enjoy wearing it while it appreciates in value.

Since 1998, Holben's Fine Watches' goal has been happy customers. Among new and old watch collectors, the Omega Watch Co. of Switzerland is one of the most renowned brands of timepieces, a firm founded by Louis Brandt of Biel in 1848. In 1894 a new caliber bore the name of Omega for the first time, and since then the company has produced some of the finest caliber wristwatches money can buy. Omega is also my favorite Swiss watch firm, unsurpassed when it comes to style and high quality for a not (as of yet) crazy high price.
When I first saw this watch I said to myself “wow, a men’s

WWII Omega watch in miniature” and that’s basically what it is – a 2/3 size ladies version that dates to early 1944. Omega made many styles of watches for women in the 1940s but you don’t often see one in a military (or sport) style like this – I’ve had just two others in over 25 years collecting.
This triple-signed watch was made entirely in Switzerland and measures 32mm end to end and 24mm in width (26mm with domed steel crown). In inches this works out to be 1-1/4” by 1”, not including the crown and it comes fitted on a new 13mm black Kreisler leather strap with steel buckle. Powering this watch is its original R13.5 caliber, 17 jewel manual wind mechanism that winds and sets smoothly while keeping very good time.
The ivory colored, matte enamel finished dial is in excellent condition, professionally restored to its correct original status and perhaps nicer than my photos show (the curvature of the crystal made it hard to photograph). It features a 60 second outer track border, black Arabic numerals and original blue steel Leaf-style hands. Signed OMEGA below the 12 with trademark Omega symbol and SWISS at the base of the dial.
The low dome hardened acrylic crystal is in excellent condition, a later replacement although the original would have also been plastic for strength. The two-piece case is solid stainless steel and in excellent PLUS condition. The vintage domed steel winding crown, while not signed with the Omega symbol is, I believe, the original. It too is in excellent shape and operates smoothly.
Turning the watch over I find an original stainless steel screw-down back lid in excellent shape with no signs of abuse or engravings, very nice. Peeking inside, I find a high grade, Seventeen Jewel Rectangular movement (set within a round protective guard), signed Omega Watch Co., SWISS, Seventeen 17 Jewels - OXG with caliber number of R 13.5 stamped below the balance wheel. The men’s version of this watch has a R 17.8 SC caliber mechanism. The serial number is #9,993,925, dating the watch to late 1943, early 1944 as per company production records. The inside of the case lid is finely engine turned and stamped ACIER STAYBRITE – OMEGA, FAB. SUISSE, SWISS MADE with model reference number 2167/2 below.
This woman’s military sport timepiece has been disassembled, cleaned, oiled and regulated to ensure it winds and sets smoothly and keeps accurate time. It is fitted on a new 13mm black crocodile grain Kreisler leather strap

with matching steel buckle. Folks, I bet it’ll be a long, long time before I have another WWII era ladies military watch for sale – if you like the clean look of this one don’t hesitate as the Omega quality is there.

I am pleased to offer for sale the following timepiece from the Bulova watch firm, a rarer than hens’ teeth vintage men’s Super Compressor divers model that dates to 1962 - 1963. A few companies offered “Compressor” models and they were the precursor of today’s modern dive watches, used by the pros for deep underwater exploration. I have sold Super Compressor models by Alpina, Jaeger LeCoultre, Wittnauer but NEVER have I had a Bulova – in fact, I wasn’t sure one existed until only recently.
A “Super Compressor” in itself is not a watch. It was a patented type of watch case that was used by several watch companies, some famous and some no longer n business. This case design was patented in 1956 by Ervin Piquerez SA (EPSA), a now defunct Swiss firm, and manufactured by them for almost two decades. And while most of the Super Compressors could be identified by their twin crowns and internal rotating timing ring, the name actually referred to the case’s sealing technology, which made use of a spring-loaded case back that sealed tighter as external water pressure increased. EPSA’s logo was a stylized diving helmet and it can be found either on the outside or inside of the case back. While most had crowns that were “cross-hatched”, this example has each crown signed “Bulova.”
Quadruple-signed, its solid stainless steel case measures 43.5mm lug tip to lug tip and 36mm in width (39.2mm with winding and timing bezel crowns). This works out to be 1-3/4 inches in length by 1-11/16 inches in width, not including the crowns. It is powered by its original 17 jewel, rotor automatic (11AFAC caliber) self-winding mechanism that has been fully serviced prior to auction, ensuring it keeps accurate time.
The 100% original black, enamel finished dial is in excellent condition – guaranteed untouched since it left the factory 50 years ago. It features a fully functional black and silver rotating inner bezel (controlled by the top crown) with luminous PIP, white enamel painted Arabic numerals, original white lacquer finish hands (with luminous that glows) and a ‘sweep’ white finished center seconds hand. Signed BULOVA below the 12 marker and SELFWINDING above the 6 marker. It is further signed SWISS just below the 6 marker,

but hard to see in my photos as it’s partially below the rotating timing bezel.
The hardened acrylic crystal is in excellent, clear condition, securely fitted. The two-piece case is a heavy weight solid stainless steel example in excellent condition. The original Bulova-signed crowns are in excellent shape, operating smoothly.
Turning the watch over I see that the back lid is a screw-down design in great condition, just a few small scratches. It is stamped Bulova Watch Co., Stainless Steel, Super Waterproof – Swiss Made, 660 Feet, Brevet + 317537, Brevet + 337462, Antimagnetic – Shock Resistant – M2, 359,186. Brevet is French for patented and the “M2” is the firm’s date code for 1962.
Inside I find a clean rotor automatic mechanism that is signed Bulova Watch Co., [Caliber] 11AFAC - Seventeen 17 Jewels, Swiss- M3, . The M3” stands for 1963, indicating that the watch was cased up and left the factory in this year (a one year difference in case/movement date codes is very normal for Bulova). The inside of the case back is stamped 314, 7-62 - where the 7/62 stands for July 1962, when this case was made by EPSA.
This watch has been fully serviced to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time. It is fitted with a vintage 1960s Swiss Made “Tropic” rubber watch strap with original Stainless Steel (Acier) buckle. It will fit a wrist up to 8-1/2 inches on the second last hole but can be worn by those with wrist as small as 6 inches thanks to a total of 12 holes that run down the bottom section of the band. These original Swiss Tropic bands sell on eBay for $80 to $120 by themselves, and it is the perfect complement to this fine Super Compressor. Whether you collect vintage dive watches, Compressor models or just love cool looking Swiss watches this is nice, seldom seen choice.

I am pleased to offer for sale the following men’s watch from the firm, a store display SEADRAGON divers Swiss chronograph model in excellent, all original shape. This brown dial, brown bezel, brown rubber band watch comes complete with its Zodiac-signed rubber sport with matching brushed steel Zodiac-signed buckle. Again, this was old store stock – not brand mew (it has been tried on a handful of times) but very close to that.
Folks, I can’t think of another all Swiss made dive watch that gives you more “bang” for your buck – the fit and finish is excellent, the smallest dial details very crisp. Being rated to 100 meters (330 feet) also means you can get this one wet – in the ocean, in the pool, you name

it.
Quadruple-signed for Zodiac, its solid stainless steel case measures 48mm lug tip to lug tip, 14.5mm thick and 43mm in width (47mm with Zodiac-signed crown). This is a LARGE size watch, it won’t get lost on your wrist! It is powered by its original Zodiac precision Swiss (Ronda 5030.D) 10 jewel quartz mechanism that keeps precision accurate time.
The brown enamel finished dial is in mint condition, featuring a black & white Tachymeter dial, a 60 second outer chapter (calibrated to 1/5 of a second), applied silver and white (luminous) hour markers, a quick change date window at the 6 position, original silver steel hands with luminous fill and YELLOW Flyback center seconds hand. Signed ZODIAC 1882 below the company symbol and 100 METERS – 330 FEET above the date window. It is further signed SWISS MADE at the base of the dial.
There are two sub-registers on the dial. The left register is a 30 minute chronograph timer. The right register is a 60 second timer. Both dials feature yellow lacquer finish hands and white backgrounds.
The hardened mineral crystal is in mint condition. The bi-directional brown and silver timing bezel ratchets over nice and snugly. The two-piece case is a solid stainless steel of good weight, brushed (satin) finish along the bezel corners and polished on the sides. It is in pristine shape. The setting crown (used for date as well) features the Zodiac emblem and is excellent like the rest of the watch, as are the chrono pushers.
Turning the watch over you will see that the stainless, screw-down back lid is finely executed with an engraved “Sea Dragon” in the center – very topnotch and quite impressive. I can only imagine that Zodiac was inspired by the Omega Seamaster when coming up with this model name. The lid is signed “ZODIAC SEADRAGON – 100 METERS 330 FEET – SWISS MADE, 50132. As this watch has not been opened up I am not going to do so as this may compromise its waterproof qualities. Be assured, however, that there is a precision Swiss quartz Ronda 10 jewel mechanism inside that keeps spot-on, accurate time.
This timepiece comes with its original 22mm dark brown rubber rally, Tropic style sport strap signed Zodiac on the brushed finish stainless steel buckle. It does NOT come with any box or papers, just the watch as you see it. A finely executed, heavy duty Swiss divers chrono that is perfect for work, travel, the ocean – where you want your wrist to look good but don’t want to spend a lot (for Swiss quality) in the process. You can’t go

wrong.

Since 1998, Holben's Fine Watches' goal has been happy customers. I treat buyers as I like to be treated: with courtesy and respect.
