INTRODUCTIONThe winter season in Alta PusteriaThe villages in Alta Pusteria have both, guaranteed snow and approximately 300 days of sunshine per year. In Alta Pusteria you are far away from mass tourism with 7 skiing areas, 93 km of well prepared ski pistes and a variety of leisure activities awaiting you.

From South Tyrol’s steepest ski piste at Croda Rossa, the ideal ski pistes for real carvers at Monte Elmo or a big range of activities and services for families in the whole skiing region of the Sextner Dolomiten: enjoy your individual winter experience! Moreover, the holiday region offers wonderful adventure parks and a lot of action for our young guests.

Alta Pusteria is also an internationally renowned destination for cross-country skiing. Enjoy 200 km of well prepared cross-country ski tracks, including professional FIS-stan-dardized tracks in Dobbiaco, panoramic tracks with stunning views as the ones of Prato Piazza and the marvellous cross-country ski tracks in Val Fiscalina.

Very popular with our guests are also the idyllic winter excursions far away from any hustle and bustle. Also other winter activities, such as snowshoe hiking or ski touring with professional guides, as well as tobogganing at night are a real highlight in Alta Pusteria.

The skiing region Sextner Dolomiten a unique skiing experience in the win-ter wonderland of the Three Peaks. The skiing area in the very east of the Dolomiti Superski region, declared UNESCO World Heritage in 2009, is a real paradise for families. This is where dreams come true: 93 km of various ski pistes, 32 cable cars and ski lifts amidst the breath-taking landscapes of the Dolomites.

Two modern cable car lifts are connec-ting now the two skiing areas Monte Elmo and Croda Rossa via the Stiergarten high plateau. This is without

200 km of ski pistes connected by train!Thanks to the new train station in Versciaco the two skiing resorts Plan de Corones and Sextner Dolomiten in Val Pusteria have turned into one unique ski carousel. Giving skiers the opportunity to explore 200 km of well prepa-red ski pistes, the new train connection opens a new dimension. You can enjoy the convenience of travelling on the Ski-Pustertal-Express from one skiing resort to the other in only 40 minutes. So no bother taking off your ski boots and no tiresome car journey.

PUNKA Service Center Versciaco

At the new train station in Versciaco close to the cable car station of Monte Elmo the new service centre is a real eye-catcher. Once an old bunker the building is now a modern service centre, including ski pass desk, ski school, ski rental, ski depot, shop, restaurant and Après Ski zone.

Ski depots

There are ski depots at your disposal in the Punka Service Centre in Versciaco and in the train station of Villabassa. In the Punka Service Centre groups may store their equipment in a special depot for groups with up to 50 people. The price for this box is € 57,00 / day. The depot foresees enough space for 1 pair of skis, ski boots and ski poles, as well as 1 helmet and 1 pair of gloves per person. Gloves, ski boots and helmet are dried at night and heated in the morning. Another ski depot is located in the Ski School Sextner Dolomiten in Sesto. Prices on request.

The tracks in Alta Pusteria are part of the Dolomiti Nordicski circuit, the biggest cross-country carousel in Europe with more than 1,300 km of tracks in twelve resorts amidst the breathtaking landscape of the Dolomites, a unified pricing system, as well as a one-stop ski pass and GPS download of each tour. Since 2010 Dobbiaco has a new centre for cross-country skiing. The Nordic Arena offers the following facilities:

The 5 cross-country ski tracks with FIS homologation are sophisticated circuits with demanding ascents and descents. Start and finish of the tracks is the famous Nordic Arena, which is regularly venue for World Cup races. After a starting round in the cross-country stadium the tracks lead through the forest at the entrance of the Val di Landro. The ski tracks and the Nordic Arena in Dobbiaco are also a renowned training destination for cross-country national teams from all over the world.
