This holiday season, we have transformed our large gallery into a delightful holiday shop called Gifted – showcasing gifts of art and fine craft from local, regional, and national artists. Private LessonsSign your loved one up for private lessons! This is a great way for people to hone their skills with one-on-one instruction from our Artists-in-Res-idence. Private lessons are offered in four broad categoris: pottery wheel, clay hand-building, art sampler, painting or drawing. Available for students who have completed their first year of kindergarten through adults. Private lessons are $35/hour for one person, $45/hour for two people, and $55/hour for three people. Homeschool Art ClassThis 9-week visual art class introduces students to drawing, painting, pottery, printmaking, and sculpture. Students will build their skills & understanding of a wide range of age-appropriate art concepts. LUX Center for the Arts is a unique location for students to see original works of art, make their own art, and visit the onsite studios of their instructors who are all professional artists.

Students will be split up into groups by age and grade level so please be sure to note that with their name in the box below.The instructor for these classes will change every 3 weeks to give students the opportunity to meet and work with a variety of art mediums.

Repeat students will see some of the same demos for basic skills (color wheel, paint mixing, clay intro, etc.) but will be encour-aged to come up with new ways of using their more advanced skills.

Family Pottery Wheel NightGet your family together for a night of fun on the pottery wheel! You are guided through basics of working on the pottery wheel in this fun and messy workshop! Your creations will be ready for pick up 2 weeks after the workshop. Please come dressed ready to make a mess!

An adult must participate in the workshop - the tuition fee covers one individual and you must register for each adult and child attending. Classes are appropriate for ages 5-105. Parents with ages 5-8 work together on one wheel. Students age 9+ get their own wheel. Pots will be glazed and ready about two weeks after the workshop.

ProgramsWorkshops

**COVID-19 Update** Classes will meet in person at the LUX Center for the Arts. Masks are required and the number of participants is lim-ited to 6 so we can seat students at a safe distance from each other. Students and staff are also required to wash hands upon arrival to class and to stay home if they feel sick. High-touch class-rooms surfaces and tools are also being sanitized between classes. RegistrationAll students must register for classes at least 24 hours in advance. Classes are filled on a first come, first serve basis. Full payment must be made at the time of registration. Full class descriptions and registration available online at LUXcenter.org/programs.

Campus AccessibilityWe strive to make our programs ac-cessible to people of all income and ability levels. All classroom spaces, bathrooms, and water fountains are wheelchair accessible. All five art galleries are free to visit; three of the five are wheelchair accessible. The LUX recently installed a new ramp in the front of the Ceramics Center and will be installing a new chair lift in our main building in the spring of 2021.

Ceramics Center Studio HoursStudios are open 5-9 p.m. on Mondays. Tuesday-Friday noon-9 p.m. Saturday 2-5 p.m. All adult ceramics students have access to the studio throughout the weeks of their class. Monthly studio membership and punch cards are available. Clay + Glass Project Pick-upTypically, clay + glass projects are fired and ready two weeks after the last class session. Projects left more than 60 days after the last class session will be discarded.

Private LessonsDue to COVID-19, LUX Center for the Arts redesigned our private art lessons for your safety and to allow parents and adult students to sign up online and keep the creativity flow-ing. During this time, we’re only booking lessons in one-month sessions (4 weeks at 1 hour per week minimum). Private lessons are available to students who have completed their first year of kindergarten through adults. $35/hour for one person $45/hour for two people $55/hour for three people

Pottery Wheel – Ages 9+ learn how to throw, trim, and glaze pottery made on the wheel.

Clay Hand Building – Learn to build and glaze your own cups, plates, or sculptures using a variety of tools and techniques.

Art Sampler – Try a bit of everything clay, painting, drawing, fibers, jewelry, mixed media, and more.

Bryon HartleyEast Gallery | Oct 2-Nov 27

Bryon Hartley presents brand new work with new glass styles and techniques all created during quarantine. Bryon was born and raised in central Illinois. After taking a short 27-year break in his educa-tional pursuits after High school, Bryon restart-ed his education journey at Lincoln Land Com-munity College in 2009 where he received his Associate of Arts degree in Art in 2011. After graduation from LLCC, Bryon transferred to Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville to pursue a Bachelor of Fine Art. Along with his BFA in ceramics he also earned a Bachelor of Art in Art History when he graduated in 2013. After a Post Baccalaureate year at SIUE, Bryon was accepted as the Hixson-Lied Graduate Fellow for 2014 at the University of Nebraska. He is currently in his second year of his can-didacy at the university pursuing a Master of Fine Arts degree in Sculpture.

“Nostalgic Reverie” draws on all those memories and more to let you travel in time and contemplate your youth and the wistful feelings when you think about your past. Some prints are senti-mental while others are poignant, yet all are evocative visits to past experi-ences. “Nostalgic Reverie” curated by Susan Soriente features 18 prints from the LUX Print Collection and may be seen now through January 5, 2020.
