Holiday Unit Program Policy
Aims and Objectives

the benefit of families and couples on a low income or experiencing financial hardship and who meet
the eligibility criteria. They will provide an affordable holiday for eligible persons. Reasonable
endeavours will be made to rent to a diverse range of individuals, couples and families.
COST
The cost of hiring the Holiday Units for the 2017/2018 financial year is $100 for the week (Tuesday
2pm to the following Monday 10am). The $100 must be paid at least three weeks prior to the
holiday date. If payment is not received, the dates will not be held. All payments are made directly
to the holiday rental management company.
There is also a refundable booking Fee and Bond of $50 (the booking fee/bond cannot be subsidised
by the referring agency). This amount will be refunded EXCEPT if the Applicant or any guests:
a. Cancel or change dates less than 3 weeks from the Holiday date: OR b. Should the Adelaide Benevolent Society incur cost associated with damage to the
property or other unreasonable costs as a result of the Applicant’s stay (including lost keys).
Referral Process
Applications for the Holiday Unit Program will be received from outside agencies and community
organisations ONLY. Organisations may nominate individuals/couples/families whom in their view
are worthy Holiday Unit Program recipients and meet the criteria. The application form must be
completed by the referring agency. Completion of a form does not guarantee acceptance of the
application. Once an application has been approved, the Applicant will be notified in writing and
invited to contact the holiday rental management company to book a date and make payment.
Payment plans are available.
Eligibility Criteria
Discretion will be applied when reviewing applications for Holiday Unit Program. Proof must be
provided of financial hardship. The eligibility criteria in relation to financial hardship includes:

that they could afford a holiday through traditional avenues.
• If financial hardship has not been proven within our criteria, those Applicants may still be
