Holly’s International (Hong Kong) Autumn Auctions Conclude

HK$526 Million Achieved from 6 Sales by 4 Departments

Dong Gao’s Album of Jinling’s Ten Places of Interest

the highest-selling lot with a record-breaking HK$83.78 million

(Hong Kong, 29th November 2019) Holly’s International (Hong Kong) (“Holly’s (HK)”) 2019 Autumn Auctions concluded successfully on 24th November. The six curated sales offered by four departments were highly successful, with total proceeds reaching almost HK$526 million. Among the lots on offer, Album of Jinling’s Ten Places of Interest by Dong Gao (1740 - 1808) sold for a record high of HK$83,780,000 and emerging as the top lot of the season. Dr. Li Yifei, founder of Holly’s International Auction Co., Ltd., commented, “The strong results achieved in our Autumn sales is a proof of Hong Kong remaining as a vital art hub in the global art market. Auction Results of Six Sales From Four Departments I. “Origin of Ink – Chinese Paintings And Calligraphy” Sale Totalled HK$300 Million

The highly-anticipated “Origin of Ink – Chinese Paintings And Calligraphy” sale, presented by the Department of Chinese Paintings and Calligraphy, offered 59 significant Chinese paintings and calligraphy works from ancient to modern times. This sale achieved a total of HK$300 million. Among the lots, Album of Jinling’s Ten Places of Interest, the masterpiece by Dong Gao (1740-1818), a famous courtier of the reigns of Emperors Qianlong and Jiaqing, was unveiled for the first time on the art market. This painting, recorded in the catalogue of calligraphy and paintings “Shi Qu Bao Ji Xu Bian

(《石渠寶笈續編》)”, sold for a record-breaking HK$83,780,000. Following closely was Mount Jinggang by Li Keran (1907-1989), a prominent modern landscape painter, which sold for a remarkable HK$45,430,000. Strong results were witnessed across numerous other works in this sale. Two paintings by Fu Baoshi (1904-1965), Reading Elite and The Entertainment of Tang People, brought HK$33,040,000 and HK$15,930,000 respectively; while Peaceful Scene and White Camellia by Zhang Daqian (1899-1983) also realised HK$25,960,000 and HK$ 9,676,000. Nostalgia by Guan Shanyue (1912-2000) sold for

HK$9,440,000, exceeding the high estimate by nearly HK$1 million.

II. “The Resonance of Minds – Modern and Contemporary Art” Sale: Versailles by Wu

Guanzhong Delivered Strong Momentum to Kick-Start Autumn Auctions

Kicking off the Autumn Auctions, this sale presented by the Department of Modern and Contemporary

Art attracted attentions from a wide range of collectors and was concluded with impressive results. After

multiple rounds of in-person and telephone bids, Versailles by Chinese master painter Wu Guanzhong

was sold to a telephone bidder for a remarkable HK$24,780,000, the highest result of the sale. Other top

works include Robert Rauschenberg’s Kennel Club (Scenarios) which sold for HK$17,700,000,

exceeding the high estimate by nearly HK$6 million; Amnesia and Memories: Male by Zhang

Xiaogang, which achieved HK$10,030,000; Two Young Shepherds by Chen Danqing which totalled

HK$10,384,000 after fierce bidding; and Untitled by Liu Ye also fetched an impressive HK$20,060,000.

Numerous lots in this sale, containing 69 exquisite works of art, were sold for high prices, realised a

total of HK$104,700,000.

III. Two Sales from Chinese Ceramics and Works of Art Fetched Approximately HK$72

million

The Department of Chinese Ceramics and Works of Art put on two special sales: “Everlasting Aroma –

Imperial Porcelain and Important Chinese Works of Art”, and “The Pursuit of Fantasy – Private

Collection of Important Porcelain”, which together offered over 100 exquisite antiques in a wide variety

of categories, including porcelain ware, jade ware, bronze ware and Buddhist statues. Among the lots, A

Fine Imperial Ming-Style Blue And White 'Sanduo', Meiping from the Qianlong Period of the Qing

Dynasty achieved an impressive HK$10,266,000.

Another eye-catching lot, A Fine And Rare Large Famille Rose Baluster 'Boys At Play' Vase from the

Daoguang Period of the Qing Dynasty, sold for HK$6,844,000. A Rare Large Ru-Typecarved 'Sanduo'

Bowl from the Yongzheng Period of the Qing Dynasty was bought by an on-site buyer for

HK$ 6,608,000, and A Fine Superb Blue And White ‘Boys’ Jar from the Jiajing Period of the Ming

Dynasty fetched HK$ 6,018,000, three times the high estimate.

IV. Two Sales from the Jewellery and Prestige Collections Totalled Nearly HK$58,400,000,

with Stylish Urban Art Introduced for the First Time

Around 150 pieces of premium jewellery, elegant timepieces and stylish urban art were presented by the

Department of Jewellery and Prestige Collections in two sales: “Ode to Utmost Beauty – Fine Jewels,

Jadeite And Urban Art”, and “Engraved Passion – Important Timepieces And Decorative Art”. The total

proceeds of these two sales reached HK$58,400,000, the top lot was Jadeite And Diamond Pendant

which fetched a remarkable HK$10,148,000.

Thirty items of stylish urban art, a category introduced for the first time in this season’s auctions, were

well received by young collectors during the preview and eventually all 30 lots were successfully sold.

Other lots which sold for excellent prices included a Jadeite And Diamond Necklace, Ring And

Earrings Suite, selling for HK$4,838,000; a Fancy Diamond Ring which totaled HK$ 4,661,000; a

Diamond Ring which achieved HK$4,484,000; and a Jadeite And Diamond Ring And Earrings Suite

that sold for HK$3,068,000.

The star lot of the day, Album of Jinling’s Ten

Places of Interest by Dong Gao, a famous

courtier of the reigns of the Emperors Qianlong

and Jiaqing, achieved a record-breaking

HK$83,780,000, smashing the previous auction

record for a work by this artist set at Poly

Auction Beijing in 2011 (HK$52,900,000), and

becoming the top lot of Holly’s International

(HK) 2019 Autumn Auctions.

Versailles by Wu Guanzhong became the first lot

sold over HKD 10 millions at the Holly’s

International (HK) 2019 Autumn Auctions,

fetching an impressive HK$ 24,780,000.

Stylish urban art was newly introduced for the

Autumn Auctions, and included Flying Balloon

Girl by British graffiti artist Banksy, Astro Boy

Companion by American street artist KAWS,

and the pink Sand Circle sculpture created from

ordinary materials of daily life by the emerging

artist Daniel Arsham. This selection was

especially well received by young collectors with

all 30 lots sold, an encouraging outcome!

一、“翰墨归宗——中国书画”专场总成交额接近 3 亿港元

今季焦点专场、由中国书画部策划的“翰墨归宗——中国书画”，精选共 59 件古代至近现代中国

书画名家作品，专场总成交额接近 3 亿港元，成绩骄人。当中著录于《石渠宝笈续编》的清朝

乾隆及嘉庆时期名臣董诰的盛年之作《金陵十景图册》更是首度亮相拍卖市场，以破纪录 8,378

万港元成交。紧随其后为近代著名山水画家李可染的《革命摇篮井冈山》，以 4,534 万港元高价

拍出。

此外，本专场亦有多件作品拍出亮眼成绩。傅抱石的两幅作品《高人读书图》及《唐人行乐图》

均以高价拍出，分别以 3,304 万港元及 1,593 万港元成交；张大千的《太平景象》及《白茶花》

以 2,596 万港元及 967.6 万港元成交；关山月《乡土情》亦由藏家以高于最高估值近 100 万的

944 万港元投得。

二、“灵思鸣动：现当代艺术”专场，吴冠中《凡尔赛一角》为秋拍揭开序幕

今季拍卖会以现当代艺术部开场，吴冠中的《凡尔赛一角》经过场内外多轮竞价，最终由电话委

托投得，成交价达 2,478 万港元，夺该专场之冠。除此以外，各现当代艺术大师佳作皆获藏家追

捧，如罗伯特·劳森伯格(Robert Rauschenberg)的《肯尼俱乐部》以 1,770 万港元成交，较最高估

价高出约 6 百万港元；张晓刚的《失忆与记忆：男人》以 1,003 万港元成交；陈丹青的《一对年

轻的牧羊人》经过激烈竞投，以 1,038.4 万港元成交；刘野的《无题》最终亦以 2,060 万港元的

高价成交。本专场呈献共 69 件精品，众多拍品均以高价成交，总成交额达 1.047 亿港元，成绩

出众。

今季瓷器玉器工艺品部推出两大专场“余香集 — 宫廷及重要艺术珍品”及“稚趣成真 — 南洋私人瓷

器珍藏”，共呈献过百件精致古玩，包括瓷器、玉器、青铜器和佛教造像等各大门类艺术精品。

其中，清乾隆御窑青花折枝瑞果纹梅瓶拍卖成绩最为出众，以高达1,026.6万港元成交。

另一件备受注目的是图录封面拍品——清道光粉彩百子图螭龙耳瓶，以 684.4 万港元成交；清雍

正仿汝釉浮雕折技花果纹大海碗亦由现场买家以 660.8 万港元投得；明嘉靖青花庭院婴戏图大罐

更以高出最高估价三倍的 601.8 万港元成交。

珠宝尚品部两大专场“至臻致美 — 瑰丽珠宝翡翠及尚品潮玩”及“镌刻时光 — 珍贵名表及西洋古董钟”，为藏家甄选出近 150 件顶级珠宝、精美腕表及时尚潮玩，最高成交额拍品为天然翡翠“观音”配钻石吊坠，以约 1,015 万港元高价成交，成为珠宝尚品两大专场中成交额最高的拍品。最后两个专场合计总成交额约 5,840 万港元。

二、「靈思鳴動：現當代藝術」專場，吳冠中《凡爾賽一角》為秋拍揭開序幕

今季拍賣會以現當代藝術部開場，吳冠中的《凡爾賽一角》經過場內外多輪競價，最終由電話委託投得，成交價達 2,478 萬港元，奪該專場之冠。除此以外，各現當代藝術大師佳作皆獲藏家追捧，如羅伯特·勞森伯格(Robert Rauschenberg)的《肯尼俱樂部》以 1,770 萬港元成交，較最高估價高出約 600 萬港元；張曉剛的《失憶與記憶：男人》以 1,003 萬港元成交；陳丹青的《一對年輕的牧羊人》經過激烈競投，以 1,038.4 萬港元成交；劉野的《無題》最終亦以 2,060 萬港元的

高價成交。本專場呈獻共 69 件精品，眾多拍品均以高價成交，總成交額達 1.047 億港元，成績出眾。

三、瓷器•玉器•工藝品部兩大專場總成交約 7,200 萬港元 今季瓷器•玉器•工藝品部推出兩大專場「余香集 — 宮廷及重要藝術珍品」及「稚趣成真 — 南洋私人瓷器珍藏」，共呈獻過百件精緻古玩，包括瓷器、玉器、青銅器和佛教造像等各大門類藝術精品。其中，清乾隆御窯青花折枝瑞果紋梅瓶拍賣成績最為出眾，以高達1,026.6萬港元成交。

另一件備受注目的是圖錄封面拍品——清道光粉彩百子圖螭龍耳瓶，以 684.4 萬港元成交；清雍正仿汝釉浮雕折技花果紋大海碗亦由現場買家以 660.8 萬港元投得；明嘉靖青花庭院嬰戲圖大罐更以高出最高估價三倍的 601.8 萬港元成交。
