Our Lady Queen of the Angels Adoration Chapel

Pledges/donations to date: $378,120.17 Special Giving—-Interior: $114,008.24

The invitation remains open: Spend an hour before Our Lord in the new Adoration Chapel It’s official: perpetual adoration before Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament is now available around-the-clock in the new Our Lady Queen of the Angels Adoration Chapel. Several people signed up over the past two weekends. But several spots remain open on the schedule. Our goal is to achieve 24/7 coverage with someone praying/meditating in the chapel around the clock. Will you consider spending an hour with Our Lord once a week? Contact Dana or Joyce in the church office to sign up and receive a key card that will give you access to the chapel. (This key card access is intended as a security measure for persons visiting the chapel at all times during the day and night.)

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞ Pledges and donations still needed and very welcomed—especially for the art above the entry door to the chapel. See desk in church narthex or contact Father McDonald for more information.

“Oh Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, make my heart like unto Thine!” On Friday, the Church celebrated the Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, in humble recognition that Jesus has loved us with a human heart...and that heart, pierced by our sins and for our salvation, is quite rightly considered the chief sign and symbol of His everlasting love. Devotion to the Sacred Heart is a worshipful relationship to the Person of Christ and His redeeming love, under the symbol of His heart (CCC2011), and has been with us since between 800 and 1000 AD, according to The Catholic Source Book. Apparitions of Jesus to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque, which took place from 1673 to 1675, tell of Jesus’ concern about how His love is met with cold indifference. At that time, Our Lord asked St. Margaret Mary to promote three practices: *Devotion to His heart as a symbol of His love for all, *Frequent Communion in a spirit of reparation, especially on the first Friday of the month, and *Holy hours and other devotions Devotion to the Sacred Heart continued to grow, and in 1956, Pope Pius XII promulgated the encyclical Haurietis Aquas, On Devotion to the Sacred Heart. Then, in 1920, at the canonization of St. Margaret Mary, the 12 promises made by Our Lord to those who are devoted to His Sacred Heart were implicitly approved by the Church. Those promises are: 1. I will give them all the graces necessary in their state of life. 2. I will establish peace in their houses. 3. I will comfort them in all their afflictions. 4. I will be their strength during life and above all during death. 5. I will bestow a large blessing upon all their undertakings. 6. Sinners shall find in my heart the source and infinite ocean of mercy. 7. Tepid souls shall grow fervent. 8. Fervent souls shall quickly mount to high perfection. 9. I will bless every place where a picture of my heart shall be set up and honored. 10. I will give priests the gift of touching the most hardened hearts. 11. Those who shall promote this devotion shall have their names written in my heart, never to be blotted out. 12. I promise you in the excessive mercy of my heart that my all-powerful love will grant to all who communicate on the first Friday in nine consecutive months the grace of final penitence; they shall not die in my disgrace nor without receiving the sacraments; my divine heart shall be their safe refuge in this last moment. And the Catechism tells us, The charity of Christ is the source in us of all merits before God..”(CCC2011), and so we pray: “O Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, make my heart like unto Thine!”
