Good Easter People of Holy Cross, “What did you notice today?” a 5-year-old wanted to know. We had been playing a game trying to answer that simple question. I learned a lot about what she noticed, as she told me about bugs, grass, critters, flowers, and seeing a flock of white birds flying overhead, and white fluffy clouds in the blue sky … Piece by piece, I learned about her world. The game includes both of us. She asks me about what I have noticed that day. So I tell her I noticed she listens attentively, she is not bored. I often notice a light in her eyes, a spark of sheer pleasure as we exchange our worlds. I imagine she sees something in my eyes, too. Nor is this light confined to our eyes. Somehow it shines through the everyday ordinary realities we describe and offer to one another. Light catches our attention; the light refracted through the things, seen nowhere else but in the particular things we notice and describe, that catches and keeps our attention. We all need to discern this light, tracings of the Holy Spirit in the shape and texture of things that causes boundless wonder. Notice sacred glimpses and you will find joy! The poet, Charles Wright, wrote an awesome poem as he noticed a discarded paper in a field one evening. At night, in the fish-light of the moon, the dead wear our white shirts to stay warm, and litter the fields. We pick them up in the mornings, dewy pieces of paper and scraps of cloth. Like us, they refract themselves. Like us, they keep on saying the same thing, trying to get it right. Talk about a sacred glimpse! Let’s all try to get things right this week! Fr. Aprendí mucho sobre lo que ella notó, mientras me contaba sobre insectos, pasto, animales, flores y al ver una bandada de pájaros blancos volando por encima, y nubes blancas y esponjosas en el cielo azul... FAITH FORMATION Registration for the 2019-2020 Faith Formation Year: Registration for the 2019-2020 faith formation year will begin on Sunday, April 28th and run through August 11, 2019. You may register online at the following link https://form.jotform.com/90835571137157 or in person Mondays and Wednesday from 10:00 am-4:00 pm in the Faith Formation Office. Registration Sundays will be May 19th, June 23rd, July 28th and August 11th from 10:00 am – 3:00pm. We encourage families to register online and avoid having to come in to register. Catechist and Catechist Assistants Needed for the 2019 -2020 School year By our Baptismal promise we are all called to Evangelize, Catechize and be witnesses to our Catholic faith. Is God calling you to share your faith with the young church? Not sure if you are qualified to be a catechist or a catechist assistant? Catechesis certification classes will be offered on Wednesday, June 19th and Wednesday, July 24th from 6:00-9:00pm plus all Catechist are encouraged to attend the Atlanta Catechist Conference on Saturday, August 17th from 8:30-5:30 at the Renaissance Waverly Hotel on Cobb Parkway (re-registration required, see Barb Garvin, Director of Faith Formation too register) Ongoing certification classes will continue monthly throughout the school year so that you have the skills you need to share your faith. Our young people and youth NEED YOU! Don’t think you can teach? Are you willing to help? we have great needs for bilingual adults to serve as assistants with older teens who would like to teach. Kaleidoscope – Vacation Bible School Registration for Kaleidoscope Vacation Bible School is open and available online at https://form.jotform.com/80806022449151 Kaleidoscope will take place the week of June 10th -14th. This program is open to children entering Pre-K through 6th grade in the Fall. Cost $35.00 for Holy Cross Parishioners with a family max of $100.00/non parishioner rate is $50.00 with family max of $150.00. Registration deadline is May 31st. Paper registrations are available outside the Faith Formation office.
