The Ascension of the Lord 2

Aleluya.” Salmo 26, 7-9

“Your kingdoms of the earth sing to God; praise the Lord, who ascends above the highest heavens; his majesty and might are in the skies, alleluia.”

Psalm 68 (67):33, 35 Dear “Family of families”, for forty days we have cele-brated the Resurrection of the Lord. Easter time is a beau-tiful and wonderful time, but today we recall how after being with his disciples for the last forty days the Lord Jesus “ascends” to heaven to His heavenly Father and promises to send us the ‘Holy Spirit’. Although tradition-ally, the Ascension was celebrated last Thursday, for pas-toral reasons, it was moved to Sundays. From the Ascen-sion to Pentecost there is a gap of nine days and thus the Latin word ‘Novena’ is given to this period of prayer. During these nine days, invite the Holy Spirit to give you all His wonderful spiritual gifts. Trusting in God’s Spirit, let us continue praying for all mothers today. Whether alive or deceased may we never forget to be thankful for their love, care, life and faith in our lives. Do pray for all of our confirmadi, who today will receive the Sacrament of Confirmation, God’s gift of the Holy Spirit. Remember that on August 12th, we have a Parish Fiesta (at Salida Park). This is the 20th year that we celebrate to Our Lady of San Juan de los Lagos. Please pray and help us to prepare and celebrate this Marian Feast. You can help us with our buying and purchasing raffle tickets. Take them and return them. This income helps our gen-eral fund. For Pentecost Sunday, May 20, all who want to wear red or a fiery color are invited to do so in honor of celebrating the birth of the Church with the coming of the Holy Spirit. May God continue to bless our Parish in the holy names of Jesus, Joseph and Mary. Blessings, Fr. Juan

Happy Mother’s Day! ¡Feliz Dia de las Madres!

On Monday, May 21, I invite you: the clergy, religious and laity of the Diocese of Stockton, to offer a prayer of consecration of our Diocese of Stockton to the Immacu-late Heart of Our Lady, “Mary, Mother of the Church”. May we, throughout this month of May, and along with this year’s annual celebration of Mother’s Day, be mindful of the maternal presence of Our Lady. May she intercede for all women, especially, those called to the sacred role of motherhood.

An Invitation and Prayer of Consecration from Bishop Myron Cotta…………………...
