THE NATIVITY OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST (THE CHRISTMAS PROCLAMATION)

The Twenty-fifth Day of December,

when ages beyond number had run their

Course from the creation of the world,

when God in the beginning created heaven

and earth and formed man in his own likeness;

when century upon century passed since the

Almighty set his bow in the clouds after the Great Flood,

as a sign of covenant and peace in the twenty-first

century since Abraham, our father in faith,

came out of the Ur of the Chaldees;

in the thirteenth century since the People of Israel

were led by Moses in the Exodus from Egypt;

around the thousandth year since David was anointed King;

in the sixty-fifth week of the prophecy of Daniel;

in the one hundred and ninety-fourth Olympiad;

in the year seven hundred and fifty-two since the foundation

of the City of Rome; in the forty-second year of the

reign of Caesar Octavian Augustus; the whole world being at peace,

JESUS CHRIST, eternal God and Son of the eternal Father,

desiring to consecrate the world by his most loving presence,

was conceived by the Holy Spirit,

and when nine months passed since his conception,

was born of the Virgin Mary in Bethlehem of Judah,

and was made man:

The Nativity of Our Lord Jesus Christ according to the flesh.

8. So when will this change happen? It will be implemented over a three year period beginning in 2018. Our parish is in group 2 and in the initial year all who are prepared, from grade 2 through 12, will receive Confirma-tion (and First Communion, if needed ) from the parish priest on Pentecost Sunday, June 9, 2019. In subsequent years, the Bishop or his delegate will normally be the one to administer both Confirmation and First Communion at the same Mass.

(to be continued)

Fourth Week of Advent Prayer for Lighting the Advent Wreath Candles

Father, all-powerful God, your eternal Word took flesh on our earth when the Virgin Mary placed her life at the service of your plan. Lift our minds in watchful hope to hear the voice which announces his glory and open our minds to receive the Spirit who prepares us for his coming. We ask this through Christ our Lord. CHRISTMAS BLESSINGS

A Blessing of the Crib in the Home:

This blessing can be prayed when the crib is being put in place in the home. When the final figures are ready to be put into the crib, the family might gather around it and recite the following blessing:

All make the sign of the cross

God of every nation and people, from the very beginning of creation you have made manifest your love: When our need for a Saviour was great you sent your Son to be born of the Virgin Mary. To our lives he brings joy and peace, justice, mercy, and love.

Lord, Bless all who look upon this manger, May it remind us of the humble birth of Jesus, and raise up our thoughts to him, Who is God-with-us and Saviour of all, and who lives and reigns for ever and ever. Amen

Family Table Prayer for Christmas Day:

Loving God, on this Christmas day we give thanks that Jesus, your Son, has come into our world bringing us gifts of peace and joy. Bless us as we sit down together at this table for our Christmas meal.

Bless the food we share and help us to remember those who are hungry.

Be with our neighbours and our friends, those who are lonely, sick or away from home.

We pray that our departed loved ones may now sit at your table in heaven.

May the joy of this feast give us strength and light, now and in the days ahead. We ask this prayer through Christ, Our Lord, Amen

Stewardship Corner Stewardship at Holy Trinity Church Lesson #78

A Christmas Message from Stewardship

We know the Christmas Story. The Shepherds saw the light and went to adore the Baby Jesus. They came alone, with only their sheep. They came to witness and adore. When the Wise Men came, they brought gifts, perhaps valuable, as they had many blessings. We too have many blessings, many gifts and many talents. We too come to worship the Infant Jesus, to establish a place in the Christmas Story. Like the Wise Men, sharing our gifts of time, talent and treasure will be remembered in our Christmas Story. The Stewardship Committee expresses a very Merry Christmas wish to all Parishioners of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and to our visitors celebrating with us this festive season; and a most gracious thank you for your commitment to stewardship. “You Can’t Out Do God’s Generosity Summary of Weekly Offerings 12/16 & 12/17/2017 Offerings $ 9,709.00 Major Maintenance & Repairs $ 255.00 Christmas $ 35.00 Immaculate Conception $ 530.00 Religious Retirement Fund $ 571.00 Initial Offering $ 30.00 Candles $ 239.51 Thrift Shop $ 1,167.52 (Includes Credit Card purchases) TOTAL: $ 12,537.03
