Holy Mary virgin of of the night

we implore you - stay with us

when sorrow weighs us down.

Dispel the darkness of our trials

….when winds of desperation blow

and threaten our existence

or dark clouds of worry threaten

the chill of delusion,

or death’s severe sentence

Free us from the shivers of the night

In the hour of our Calvary

You, who have experienced the sun’s eclipse,

cover us with your mantle

so that wrapped in your warmth,

our long wait for freedom

may be more bearable

With your motherly caress, lighten

the sufferings of the sick

Swamp with your discrete and loving presence

the bitterness of those who are lonely.

Quench the fires of nostalgia

in the hearts of the wanderers

And let them rest their weary heads,

upon your shoulder.

Sing again today

your Magnificat

and proclaim a torrent of justice

for all earth’s oppressed

Do not leave us lonely in the night

chanting to our fears.

Even in moments of obscurity

hold us close …

… and whisper to us that you are the,

Virgin of Advent,

Awaiting the light,

and our face will be dried

of all its tears

And we will awake with the dawn.
