This weekend we welcome Fr. Jim Dougherty
to our parishes. Fr. Jim is a retired priest of the
Diocese of Belleville whose last assignment
was in Trenton, IL. I have not had a weekend
away since January so I thought I would take advantage of a couple of events this weekend.
Many of you know that I am fascinated by
trains so I will be at the train show in Belle-
ville. Also, a dear friend of mine is celebrating
her daughter’s first birthday with a party on
Saturday afternoon. Next weekend is the Spaghetti Supper at St.
Joseph’s Parish in Willisville. We will be having the regular Satur-
day evening mass at 5pm so please come over for mass and have a
delicious meal. If you have never been to the Spaghetti Supper then
you are missing out on some of the largest and most tender meat-
balls you have ever had. Every year my family took me over to the
supper at St. Joseph’s Parish and I have many memories there.
Come and make some memories!

Adult Education Summer 2015 Martin Luther and the Reformation
In 2017 people from around the world will celebrate the 500th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation. Numerous political, economic, social and religious transfor-mations caused the reformation as well as the personality of one Augustinian monk fearing for his own salvation. Join us in this special series as we examine the life and teachings of Martin Luther. Rather than simply dismissing Luther’s work as polemical or uncritically accepting his teachings we will watch a DVD series by Dr. Phillip Cary who balances different perspectives regarding this remarkable man. We will meet on Monday evenings from 6:30—8 p.m. in the St. Boniface Meeting
Room. Please join us for food, fellowship, and learning Date Topic

Respect Life Corner There is Hope After Abortion— “There is no grief like the grief that does not speak.” Henry Longfellow. The grief over an abortion experience is often so deep that it seems to be silent. Women and men may bear this burden for years think-ing that there is no hope of forgiveness or peace. Learn, Act, Connect, Pray: Project Rachel and Project Joseph provide healing and hope to women and men wounded by abortion. To learn more, go to [email protected] or [email protected]. All inquiries are kept confiden-tial. Pray that all those wounded by abortion can begin the journey of healing and reconciliation.

Sacraments: New Perspectives
Traditional religious education emphasizes the function and role of the seven Sacraments, but our Theology on Tap sessions will pro-vide a broader perspec-
tive of what the sacraments mean and how we can live them out. Sacraments force us to rethink our notions of reality, our purpose, and our destiny. Join us for humor, intellectual stimulation, fellowship, and tasty beverages!

Deacon Brett presented the “Theology on Tap”, at the Liberty Courtyard Winery on Sunday, July 19, 2015. The afternoon discussion was “Sacraments”. A nice crowd enjoyed the afternoon and the cool breeze from the Kaskaskia River.
