FAZover! Fr. Arnold Zamora “It’s obvious,” said the teacher, “that you haven’t studied your geography. What is your excuse?” “Well,” the student replied, “my dad says the world is changing every day, so I thought it would be best if I waited until it

settles down.” It looks like everything has already settled down

after the busy days of Holy Week. Holy Week is done. Passover is over. We’ve managed to pull through, despite the challenges of a bad weather forecast and electrical and heating problems in the Church. There was a double sacrifice in going to Church and staying in the Church. Where there is sacrifice, there is love! There was the love of God, and your love for God during those days. Of course God’s love reaches out to all those who could not go to church, yet expressed their love for God in their own special way.

Our Environment Committee, led by Cres Pa-yumo, manifested their love throughout Holy Week. They were at the Church practically every day, and some times all day, changing the thematic appearance of our Church or just making sure the Church would be ready for the next activity. Our altar servers were spectacular as they reverently served our liturgies, thanks to the training and guidance of Mr. Tri Nguyen. Our Eighth Grade stu-dents gave us a moving reenactment of the Stations of the Cross. Mr. Tony Eiras was not just a master in the musical field, but also in stage production and direction. Reflections on the Seven Last Words were given by our “Magnificent Seven” parishioners: Chris Cody, Carmen Palarca, Lucy Jacinto, Leoul Samson, Tom Galvin, Tony Eiras, and Terry Flaherty. Thanks for their beautiful thoughts and sharing. I know there are still more people and different organizations to thank. Without these peo-ple, the Holy Week activities could have been very stress-ful. When people share and help each other, the load be-comes light. There is no burden! This reminds me of a story of a boy carrying an-other boy, about his own size, on his back. Someone said, “Why are you carrying him, he is so heavy?” The boy replied, “He’s not heavy, he’s my brother.”

Caption once seen printed on the front of an apron: I know about STRESSED… It’s DESSERTS spelled backwards!!!

Speaking of stress, I had a stress test on Easter Monday. Don’t worry - it has nothing to do with the Holy Week Activities or parish work at Holy Name. It was just a prescheduled mandatory check and I am perfectly okay. Not all negatives are bad!

Passover is over. But God is not done with us yet. Let us turn once again and always to his Divine Mercy.

Special Collection for CHILE EARTHQUAKE RELIEF

THIS WEEKEND After the massive earthquake in Haiti, Chile has been devastated by the 8.8 magnitude earthquake on Febru-ary 27, 2010, and the country continue to crumble with the numerous aftershocks that continue to occur. Many parishioners have asked how they can help the Chilean people in this time of great need. Caritas Chile is cur-rently accepting donations through Catholic Relief Ser-vices (CRS) to assist the earthquake victims and their families. Today’s second collection is for the earth-quake relief in Chile. Your generosity is appreciated.

MEMORY TREE To mark Holy Name of Jesus Church’s 85th Anniver-sary, a proposal has been approved for a “Tree of Life”, a bronze tree trunk with approximately 300 leaves to be installed by the baptistry. Donors will have their names, or those they wish to honor, engraved on the leaf. The proceeds of the donations to the “Tree of Life” will go towards a much-needed Capital Improvement Fund. It is well known by all who gather here that we are constantly dealing with many repairs needed in our aging buildings (circa 1941, 1949 and 1964). The funds raised from the Tree of Life will provide for the necessary expenses that we anticipate for the future. Specific details about the Holy Name Tree of Life will be in upcoming bulletins.
