Spiritual Communion Prayer for Those at Home My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament of the altar. I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritu-ally into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You, Amen.

Reflection on Today’s First Reading 1 Samuel 3:3b-10, 19
Here I am… Speak Lord for your servant is listening.
The First Reading from the Book of Samuel tells us the familiar story of a boy named Samuel who was seeking the will of the Lord in his life, a very long time ago. When I was a child hearing this Bible story for the first time (also a long time ago!), I remember thinking how lucky Samuel was to clearly hear the voice of God calling his name and awakening him from his sleep. I also remember thinking how fortunate it was that the elderly priest Eli realized it was God calling Samuel — and not a figment of a young boy’s imagination.
Today, with the change in pace due to Covid restrictions, we might find ourselves with extra quiet time in our lives. We are not socializing with extended family and friends, traveling, attending church ministry and social activities or participating in group sports, so our evenings or weekends may be more solitary and quiet. For others, it may be a noisier time with children at home doing schoolwork online and participating in virtual meetings instead of gathering with classmates and friends in-person. We also may find that we are simply tired of looking at a glowing computer screen or phone. No matter what the circumstances, eventu-ally there is a choice about how to spend our quiet time.
One may easily fill the silence with the television, stream-ing movies or binge-watching series online, listening to music or films directly wired into our heads via earbuds or Bluetooth, or listening to satellite radio, talk shows or audi-obooks—filling even time spent in the car.
During the next month as the liturgical season of Ordinary Time continues until Lent begins on Ash Wednesday, Feb-ruary 17th, perhaps we can make a commitment to schedule daily quiet time inviting the Lord to fill our hearts and minds. If the world seems chaotic, crazy and dissonant, perhaps we need to consciously refocus our thoughts, ac-tions and prayers. A mere ten or fifteen minutes of silence a day might provide us with a welcome opportunity to say, “Here I am, Lord...speak for your servant is listening.” Perhaps we might better understand the Lord’s will and allow Him to more clearly direct our daily actions with pa-tience, clarity, purpose and charity.
Each Wednesday at Holy Rosary, there is Eucharistic Ado-ration for one hour as well as the opportunity for the Sacra-ment of Penance/Reconciliation from 6:30 to 7:30 pm. It’s a peace-filled time away from the noise and busy-ness of the world. We invite you to consider making this part of your weekly routine, scheduling time to allow the Lord to enter into your heart, spending time with the True Presence of Christ in our midst. If you cannot safely attend in-person, consider scheduling an hour of quiet prayer at home. May the month ahead be spiritually fruitful as we continue to pray for each other.

Important Guidelines Relating to Mass Attendance:
The Sunday Mass schedule remains the same: 5pm vigil on Saturday, 8:30 am, 11 am and 8pm on Sundays. A livestream of the 5pm vigil Mass on Saturdays is available on the website and may be watched at any time during the day on Sunday. Weekday Masses continue with a modified schedule. (Mon., Tues., Weds. & Fri. at 12:15pm) All Masses must comply with social distancing guidelines.
Before Attending Mass at Holy Rosary: Please remain at home and watch Mass online or on television if you are sick or if you or someone in your household is in an at-risk category. The dispensation from attending Mass continues for all at this time. Please wash your hands before coming to church and sanitize your hands as needed before entering, when exiting, and after contact with your face. You are asked to WEAR A MASK or other face covering upon entering the church and during the celebration of Mass, except for the brief moment of receiving Holy Communion. Be mindful of maintaining six feet distance between individuals or households.
Entering Church & During Mass: We ask everyone to enter via the FRONT DOORS on Mayfield Rd to maintain social distance and orderly seating. The elevator entrance should only be used by those requiring use of the elevator. Communion distribution will be in the form of the Host only. The full Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus
Christ is contained in the Consecrated Host. For the health and safety of all, reception of Holy Communion in the hand is strongly encouraged to avoid contact with an individual’s saliva. Receiving Holy Communion on the tongue is strongly discouraged for the duration of the pandemic and to safeguard the lives of others.
Before approaching the Communion minister, the communicant should reverence the Blessed Sacrament with a simple bow and approach the minister with hands properly ready—with upward facing palms placed on top of each other to receive Communion in the hand. The mask may be pulled down briefly to place the Eucharist in one’s mouth and then the mask should be immediately returned to its proper position fully covering one’s mouth and nose.
Exiting After Mass: Please be patient following Mass to exit in an organized manner and adhere to social distancing guidelines. Bulletins will be handed out by individuals wearing gloves and masks. Note that there should be no touching, handshakes or hugs exchanged — for others’ protection. Pews, doors and other contact areas will be disinfected after each Mass. Coffee and donuts and other social gatherings continue to be suspended at this time.
Other Notes: The church will be open for prayer a half hour before scheduled Masses. On Wednesday evenings the church will be open at 6:25pm for Adoration and Confession and will be promptly
locked at 7:30 pm.
If you have additional questions or concerns, please contact the Parish Office at (216) 421-2995.
