Pastor’s Message
This is a homily I gave here at Holy Trini-ty on my first Easter Sunday. It took place April 4, 2010, ten (10) years ago already! Because of the coronavirus pandemic, this is what should have taken place at the Easter Vigil. But we had to adapt it
due to the circumstances with the virus. Even with the adaptations the ritual in essence remained the same. We welcomed four (4) newly-baptized at the ceremony. Enjoy!! What a glorious day it is today! We gather this morning to celebrate a victory! A victory over death! A victory over sin! We celebrate the Resurrection of the Lord. This celebration is not just here in our own church but in the entire Christian world. We are followers of Jesus. So, we too, inherit this same gift of New Life that He was given by His own Father. But our Easter season did not just begin this morning. No. It began last night at the Easter Vigil. In darkness! We gathered together as Church around the new Easter fire. This fire was blessed and from it a light was taken. A light that lit our new Easter Candle – the symbol of the Light of Christ among us! All about us was darkness. This lone and single light led us through the darkness. And as we began our celebration, the entire church was dark. This one light helped us to return to give honor, praise and song to the Risen Lord. The church gradually filled with the light of Christ. All worshippers held a candle that came from the One Flame of the Easter Candle. And slowly, but with an increasing glow and warmth, the whole Church was filled. It was filled with light we needed to sing our Easter praises! Just think of it! One candle was able to light the whole Church! And one man was able to affect the course of the World! It was the one man, Jesus Christ, who has brought us here this morning. It was His passion, death and resurrec-tion we honor. It is because of this one man that we have gathered today. Through the efforts of this single individual, the world today takes time to recognize: the power of life over death; the victory of life over sin; the vanquishing of darkness by the Light! Now, today, we are called to be that light. Even in our singularity, we CAN make a difference. Our light can be the shining example that attracts others to our faith in Jesus. The light of others attracted our newest members to come and join us in our faith life. We are called to do the same. We are one! We are the one Body of Christ! We, in our common Baptism, are one with each other! Through the efforts we generate and display, we are building the Kingdom of God. Our call, on this glorious day of Easter, is to continue the mind and message of Jesus: to make the image of our lives one with Christ; to make us one with each other and to make the world one. As the one Body of Christ, we go forth from this place to be a light to the world. May that Light of Christ shine brightly, warmly, a glow throughout our lands! Yes, indeed, this is the day the Lord has made; we re-joice and we are glad! Msgr. Mike
Holy Trinity Habitat Partners, Our Habitat 2020 house build has come to a rather quiet yet suc-cessful conclusion amid this uncertain time. When this year's build started on Friday Jan 31, we were greeted with beautiful weather that graced us throughout the 13 days of the build. When we completed our last days of the build in early March, the U.S. was just coming to grips with the serious nature of the Covid vi-rus. Activity at the Habitat site slowed down considerably as we tried to prepare for the last step in the process - landscaping and home dedication. The formal home dedication ceremony was soon cancelled but landscaping was still moving forward as planned for Saturday Apr 4. However, now was the time for the good weather to end. With a forecast of drenching rains on Fri-day and Saturday, Habitat quickly decided to complete the land-scaping early. This morning, a small team completed laying the sod that we started laying yesterday. Jennifer's house is 99% complete. The Holy Trinity Habitat Committee wants to thank the hundreds of volunteers that made this build, our 12th house, a great suc-cess. Without the support of so many different people, this build would not have been possible. Thank you to Monsignor Mike and our Pastoral Council for funding our continued involvement with Habitat for Humanity. Thank you to the numerous minis-tries and families who provided lunch throughout the build and the countless parishioners who donated Gatorade, water and snacks that quenched our thirst and put a smile on our face each day. Finally, thank you to those of you who did all the construc-tion tasks that our illustrious House Leader Al planned for us each day. Because of your dedication and Al's leadership we have completed Jennifer's house as scheduled and it will soon be time for her and JoJo to move into their new home. This is just another way that the parishioners of Holy Trinity demonstrate solidarity to the greater community. As we all hunker down and pray for a quick resolution of the pan-demic, we also ask you to pray for the future of Holy Trinity's involvement with Habitat for Humanity of San Antonio. Pray that our new pastor will be as supportive of Habitat as Monsignor Mike has been these last 10 years and that come Jan 2021 Holy Trinity will be building our 13th house. Our future involvement with Habitat will in no small part rely on each of us continuing to financially support our parish now and during the coming months of uncertainty.
Blessings to each of you. Stay healthy. Holy Trinity Habitat for Humanity Committee,
Darin Anderson, Mike & Rose Earnshaw, Rick King, JJ & Laura Hansbrough, Carlos Salazar, Paul Sanguinetti, and Jack Wilder

PRAY FOR VOCATIONS
O, Mary, who raised your Divine Son with guidance of the Holy Spirit, intercede for all young people, especially those clouded by doubt about their vocations.
May the light of grace pierce their hearts so they may answer your Son’s call, especially those whom He is inviting to the priesthood and consecrated life.
Amen.
GOSPEL MEDITATION
April 12, 2020 Easter Sunday of the Resurrection of the Lord
When we awoke this morning, we found ourselves blessed with another day. It is Easter Sunday. As that thought crossed our minds, did we find our-selves saying “so what” or “alleluia”? For many, today is truly a day of alleluia. For others, it is just another day of “so what.” Faith makes a huge difference. It not only makes a difference in how we understand today and the significance of what we celebrate, it also makes a huge difference in terms of how we understand ourselves. Succeed, live well, be productive, find your niche, follow your dreams, make money, protect your social status, be politically correct, and keep your preferences to yourself are pretty good examples of the messages our secu-lar life wants us to hear. In and of themselves, they don’t sound all that harmful. But when really examined, they are. The life of resurrection em-bodied in the Gospel tells us a much different story. Life keeps us busy. We are always connected, distracted, occupied, and working. For many of us, an agenda awaits us before we even start our day, and unfinished stuff is brought with us when we retire at night. Make the best of life and “find your own road to happiness are messages we all too easily believe. The “so what” response to the new life of resurrection is often the result of believing that life is only what I make it. What God has to say isn’t important to me securing my next raise. Sadly, we live as if the grave is the end. While we may give the wonder of heaven a blink now and then, its glory really doesn’t impress us or matter all that much. It’s all about the here and now and what I need to do today to get where I want to be tomorrow. We tend to put off considering the one signifi-cant “tomorrow” that will come the millisecond after we take our last breath. When that happens, will we want to be thinking “so what?” or “alleluia”? There is only one Jesus, one mission, and one resurrection. There is also only one of us. Have you ever pondered what one solitary, humble human life can do? Faith, not our world, tells us how special we are. We are not robots. We are not replaceable. We have one shot. There are no do-overs. Love is at our core and unites us together as one with the God of love who so desperately wants us to be with Him forever. This may not match our secular agenda, but it ought to make our true inner agenda leap for joy. There doesn’t need to be an end. I can live forever. Alleluia! ©LPi
LIVE THE LITURGY - INSPIRATION FOR THE WEEK
Our world wants us to believe that life is only what we make of it. Today, we realize how untrue that is. Life is ultimately about what God makes of it, and the resurrection of Jesus reveals this. Alleluia, Christ is risen! Who do you understand yourself to be? What we did yesterday, are doing today, and may do tomorrow pretty much deter-mine how we perceive ourselves. We even perceive Jesus this way in limiting our vision of him to his earthly accomplishments. But, we know through today’s triumphant celebration that Christ is much more than his earthly legacy. The transfigured and resurrected Christ is the beginning, the end, and the fulfillment of all things and every person. All that Jesus did stands in second place to who we now know him to be. Do we realize that this will be our journey too? Christ is risen. Alleluia, alleluia! ©LPi
©LPi
VIVIR LA LITURGIA INSPIRACIÓN DE LA SEMANA (Live the Liturgy)
¡Aleluya, aleluya!

WE INVITE YOU TO REFLECT AND RESPOND TO SCRIPTURE First Reading Peter’s speech about the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus offers us a glimpse into the Church’s earliest kerygma (oral procla-mation) about Jesus. How is Peter’s speech persuasive to you? Second Reading Using the metaphors of yeast and unleavened bread, Paul viewed the death and resurrection of Jesus as bringing a new life of “sincerity and truth” to the community of believers. How does the celebration of Easter unite your faith community? Gospel Reading Mary Magdalene is the first to realize that Jesus had risen from dead, and twice is told, “Do not be afraid.” What fears are alleviat-ed in you knowing that Jesus rose from the dead?

Everyday Stewardship
RECOGNIZE GOD IN YOUR ORDINARY MOMENTS
Come to Christ
Life is perhaps God’s greatest gift to each of us. Without life, we would be unable to experience all the wonder of this world, the love of family and friends, and the joy that comes from using our talents and skills. Life itself is more profound a gift than we can even truly contemplate.
On Easter, we celebrate life. For on this day, Jesus Christ conquered death and gave to us the chance for a life eternal. The wonder, love, and joy of this world does not have to end. Through a life in Jesus Christ, these emotions are height-ened, and we find even greater fulfillment in this world.
Maybe this Easter you are finding yourself open to taking a next step in your relationship with Jesus. This could be the moment you decide to follow Him more closely and take seri-ously all that he has given you. If so, welcome to the journey, where there are many other disciples on that same path who can help show you the way and share their stories. If not, hopefully it doesn’t take a whole year for this possibility to be considered again. Jesus is alive and waiting to get closer to you. May this Easter season find you and Our Lord getting to know one another in a whole new way. Happy Easter!

The Resurrection. Today, during the [Mass of the] Resurrec-tion, I saw the Lord Jesus in the midst of a great light. He ap-proached me and said, Peace be to you, My children, and He lifted up His hand and gave His blessing. The wounds in His hands, feet and side were indelible and shining. When he looked at me with such kindness and love, my whole soul drowned itself in Him. And he said to me, You have taken a great part in My Passion; therefore I now give you a great share in My joy and glory. The whole time of the Resurrection [Mass] seemed like only a minute to me. A wondrous recollec-tion filled my soul and lasted throughout the whole festal sea-son. The kindness of Jesus is so great that I cannot express it. (#205)

“Pull Yourself Together!”
“On the day I cried out, you answered; you strengthened my spirit.” Ps 138:3 “Pull yourself together!” You’ve heard it a million times. Others may have said it to you, or you may have said it to yourself. But things just aren’t coming together. You know that Easter is here and yet the world seems topsy-turvy. You imagine you should be feeling the joy of Easter, but it’s hard when we can’t even gather in community to celebrate the Eucharist. You’re hurting. Besides the Pandemic, other things in your life seem to be falling apart, you don’t feel there is anyone who can understand all of the trials you are going through. You don’t feel you have anyone to whom you can talk. You even wonder where God is in all of this.
If you are feeling this way, please don’t suffer alone! Our Stephen Ministers are here for you should you feel the need to have someone to walk beside you, to listen to you, to encourage you, to pray with you, and to provide confidential one-to-one care to help you through tough times. While we are unable to provide in person care right now, we are still here to provide Christ-centered telecare.
So, if you are experiencing difficult times, don’t struggle alone. Call one of your Stephen Leaders:
John Tracy, 210 215-0411, Norma Garza, 210 379-7874 (Spanish),
or Pam Hughes, 210 394-5723 or email Pam at [email protected].
Our Stephen Ministers are ready to care for you!
Know that we wish you the true joy of this Easter season, the hope in our resurrection in the Lord.
Divorced & Separated Ministry
Reflection ~ Turn On The Light
At any given time, everyone has some aspect of their life that could be described as in "darkness." It could be physi-cal darkness due to an illness with yourself or a loved one. It could be financial darkness due to the loss of a job. Or, it could be emotional darkness due to a divorce. Whatever your darkness is, it is sure to create a lot of fear and anxiety. The great news is Jesus has provided a pathway out of the darkness: belief in Him. This belief is much more than a mental decision. It requires a total, complete, trust. The kind of clinging-to-the-scrap-of-wood-when-you're-adrift-in-the-middle-of-a-stormy-sea trust. That piece of wood is your lifeline. Your life depends on it, and you are not letting go of it no matter what. That is the type of trust you must have in Christ. Coming out of darkness is not typically a single event where suddenly the dawn breaks and your world is filled with light. It is typically a process where gradually the dark-ness fades. It will take time. During this time, cling tightly to Christ and know that He will lead you out of your darkness. He is your lifeline. "I came into the world as light, so that everyone who be-lieves in me might not remain in darkness." - John 12:46 For more resources visit vincefrese.com and DivorcedCatholic.org

Lighter Side Home in Heaven A pastor and a taxi driver both died and went to heaven. St. Peter was at the pearly gates waiting for them. “Come with me,” said St. Peter to the taxi driver. The taxi driver did as he was told and followed St. Peter to a man-sion. It had everything you could imagine, from a bowling alley to an Olympic-sized swimming pool. “Wow, thank you,” said the taxi driver. Next, St. Peter led the pastor to a rugged old shack with a bunk bed and a little old television set. “Wait, I think you are a little mixed up,” said the pastor. “Shouldn’t I be the one who gets the mansion? After all, I was a pastor, went to church every day, and preached God’s word.” “Yes, that’s true,” said St. Peter. “But during your sermons, peo-ple slept. When the taxi driver drove, everyone prayed.” What Next? God was talking to one of his angels and said, “Do you know what I have just done? I’ve just created a 24-hour period of alter-nating light and darkness on Earth. Isn’t that great?” The angel said, “Yes, but what will you do now?” God said, “I think I’ll call it a day.”
