Announcing a new book by Dr. Brett Salkeld, “Transubstantiation: Theology, History, and Christian Unity”, from Baker Books (November 2019) A book launch will be held Thursday, December 5 at the Cathedral Social Hall (Albert St. at 13th Ave). You are invited to come at 6:00 for dinner (optional), with the program beginning at 7:00 p.m.. No RSVPs.Speakers include: Rev. Amanda Currie (First Presbyterian), Rev. David Schuchardt (Northview Community Church), and Rev. Cam Fraser (Knox-Metropolitan United Church).Limited copies of the book will be available. Reserve your copy from Brett at [email protected]. Or, support your local Christian bookseller, Burns-Hanley (2727 13th Ave, Regina), 306-522-6636.Description:This thoroughgoing study examines the doctrine of transubstantiation from historical, theological, and ecumenical vantage points. Brett Salkeld explores eucharistic presence in the theologies of Aquinas, Luther, and Calvin, showing that Christians might have more in common on this topic than they have typically been led to believe. As Salkeld corrects false understandings of the theology of transubstantiation, he shows that Luther and Calvin were much closer to the medieval Catholic tradition than is often acknowledged. The book includes a foreword by Michael Root.

RCSD Distinguished Alumni Nominations The Regina Catholic School Division theme is, “Let Your Light Shine.” This theme is based on Matthew 5:16, which says, “In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.” We believe our almuni are doing good works, letting their lights shine before all the world, and giving glory to our Father in heaven. Because we feel so strongly that our alumni are following Matthew’s gospel, we want to recognize those who are outstanding representatives of Regina Catholic Schools. Do you know a graduate of our school division who is letting their light shine boldly? We invite you to nominate them. We are accepting nominations now; the deadline for nominations is Monday, November 25, 2019. More details and nomination forms are online now at www.rcsd.ca/Board/DistinguishedAlumni. Thank you for helping us identify those who are spreading the word of God beyond the halls of our schools.

TF166: Film, Literature, and Faith with Guest Patrick Malone - Part 2In part two of our time with guest, Patrick Malone, we delve deeper into our conversation on film, literature, and faith with a look at Christ figures in popular movies. We’ll take a look at James Bond

in “Skyfall”, Batman in the “Dark Knight” and the “Dark Knight Rises” and discuss the personification of evil as portrayed in the recent film “Joker”. Looking down the barrel of the good, the bad, and the ugly this week on Thinking Faith!http://thinkingfaith.libsyn.com/tf166-filmliterature-and-faith-with-guest-patrick-malone-part-2

Archbishop’s Appeal “Amen, I say to you; today you will be with me in Paradise.” Are those not the words we all aspire to hear? Jesus reminds us throughout Holy Scripture that we must keep our Christian life focus on two points: Jesus Himself, and that our lives lead to Eternity. It is these thrusts that should make us lead lives of gratitude and thanksgiving to God. his Sunday is traditionally called Christ the King. Yes, we recognize Jesus’ Kingship over all the earth and all its peoples, but the Gospel points to the part of His dominion that cannot be matched by anyone else: He rules over death as well as over life. St. Catherine of Siena once said, “All the way to heaven is heaven, because Jesus said, ‘I am the way’.” As we prepare for Advent, which begins next weekend, and as we end our liturgical year this week, we need to dedicate ourselves anew to being good stewards of all that the Lord, Christ our King, has blessed us with and to share those gifts as God’s children. We also join with the forgiven thief who was crucified next to Jesus and place our total trust in God. While we attempt to be disciples of the Lord, we need to share what we have - time, talents and treasure in every opportunity the Lord gives us, no matter how small our best effort. In sharing our gifts with the Archdiocesan Annual Appeal, we silently utter “Thank you, God” and “Lord, remember me.” [Source: http://www.catholicsteward.com/2013/11]

For all of us Catholics in the Archdiocese of Regina that we may be living witnesses to the Truth of what Christ our King preached and lived for by sharing our talents and gifts in gratitude, knowing that these are from God and are meant to benefit everyone and for the advancement of God’s kingdom in the world.
