PRESIDENTS REPORT _ 2OL8I2OL9

The year ended was quite a successful year for the Club. Whilst we did not win anypennants otrr Number One side on Saturday consolidated their position in SectionThree. Both Midweek Pennant sides just missed the final four. Our second side onSaturday at times struggled for numbers and this is an ongoing concern.

Financially the CIub is in good shape which enables us to allow membership costs toremain at the cunent rate. This is due to the efforts of the loyal band of workerswho attend working bees and have the grounds ]seking a picture. Also to thosehelping with outside functions which helped raise substantial funds. I particularlythank Stan Minns and Albert Lean for their efforts in preparing for all match dayevents. Thanks also to Shirley Risstrom for organising indoor bowls every Monday.

The Club continues to help the Community by providing facfities for KoonungCottage to use the rooms twice a week and for other special occasions. The LionsClub are are aLso using the Club as their headquarters and meet on a regular basisin the rooms.

It was very good for the Club to be allocated three pennant fi.nals by Bowls Victoria. This was a recognition of the facilities we now have. Our new green is seen as one ofthe best in the Metropolitan area.

The sad part of the year was losing three stalwarts of the Club in Past PresidentMaurie Pagram, Past Secretary Jack Mayes and Charlie Fletcher. Thet all madegreat contributions to the CIub and will be missed by all of us.

With an ageing membership we must all try to encourage new members to the Club.We gained quite a few this year but must continue to do so in the future.

Thanks to all members of the Committee for their assistance during the year. Avery special thanks to Secretarry/Ireasurer Ted Barry for his untiring effortsensuring all deadlines were met and outstanding financial records maintained. Ihave been involved in many sporting and community organisations and have neverseen a more efficient Secretary even though at times he was not in good health.Without his efforts the Club would have been in trouble. Well done Ted.

TREA$URER'$ REPORT - 2OI8-2OI9

After the excitement of the installation of a new green and success on the greens in MetropolitanPennant in the 2017-2018 year, the year 2OL8-2OL9 was one of consolidation and expansion of theClub's footprint in the bowls scene and the local community.

For the 2OL8-20L9 Financial Year the Club achieved a cash profit before depreciation of 58,680.90 and

an accounted loss of 51,089.10 after depreciation. This result was S1,(E9 less that the budgeted targetof 59,780.

The cash profit of$8,680.90 increased the cash resources ofthe Clubto 530,000.8& an encouragingreturn to liquidity after the effect of spending 5146,410.00 on the new green.

The new green is being written off over 15 years at59,770 per year.

lncome streams for the 20t8l19 year were well maintained with significant increases in green fees,

outside hall hire and sponsorship. Green fees received a welcome boost of 5500 as a result of MetroPennant finals being played at the club. We received very significant favourable comments from all

visiting finals teams for our green and our hospitality. Outside hall hire is being well managed byPresident, Michal McMahon and his team of helpers. John Blasetti is also achieving promising results inattracting commercial sponsorships. With the assistance of Bowls Australia development officer, Paul

Holtschke, we succeeded in getting grants of 54000 from Mc Health for promotion of bowls for femalesin schools and the community. The club was able to purchase 10 sets of small bowls for the use ofschools promotion and bowling with babies program. Both programs have been successful so far.

Expenditure levels in 2OL8/L9 were reasonably contained notwithstanding significant repairs to the dish

washer, bar refrigerator, air conditioning unit, security system and toilet plumbing. The age andcondition of our building and machinery/equipment is of concern. The greens vacuum cleaner died and

a new one had to be purchased at a cost of 51599.

2OL9.2O2O BUDGET

A Budget has been prepared for the coming 2OL9-2O2O financial year. Budgeted revenue is 534,370 andexpenditure is $36,020 (including depreciation of 59,930). Achievement of this financialtarget will resuhin a cash profit of 58,270.

ACKNOWTEDGEMENTS

Our club is indebted to the many members who regularly volunteer for the many tasks necessary tokeep the club functioning. I would particularly like to thank John Blasetti for acquiring a computeraccounting package which has significantly simplified the clubs accounting processes. Also I would liketo thank Johann van den Driesen for volunteering to act as honorary auditor, a position that has notbeen easy to fill. And lastly I cannot emphasise my admiration of our inspirational PresidenL MichaelMcMahon, enough. Without his vision, drive and management skills I hate to think where we would beheading.
