Michael Ciccone is a sculptor/artist active in the Hudson Valley. He has primarily worked with steel, but currently incorporates a variety of mixed media, including materials discarded from sites where he works as a member of the Laborer’s Union, Local 17. Ciccone has shown at Opus 40, Unison Sculpture Garden, Unison’s Sculpture Walk at the Water Street Market, Kingston Biennial, Doghouse Gallery, Marleau Gallery, G.A.S. Gallery, Coffey Gallery, Woodstock School of Art, Arts Upstairs, and at his own sculpture garden in Saugerties (michaelciccone.com). He is an active planning member of the Saugerties Artists Tour.

Michael Ciccone is a sculptor/artist active in NY’s Hudson Valley. He shows regularly at the year-round outdoor Unison Sculpture Garden in New Paltz, NY, at Unison’s Sculpture Walk at the Water Street Market in New Paltz, NY, and at Opus 40 in Saugerties, NY. His work has also been shown as a part of the Kingston Biennial, and at the Doghouse Gallery, G.A.S. Gallery, Coffey Gallery, Woodstock School of Art, and Arts Upstairs, among many others. He received his BA in fine arts from Bard College in 1993, then spent five years living in New York City. Working in a variety of challenging spaces in Manhattan and Brooklyn, Ciccone’s work from 1993-98 was inspired by his visits to the Hudson Valley, both in terms of material and subject matter. His work has always included, and been inspired by, found objects. While living in the city, his dreams of the country expressed themselves in the form of abstract landscapes, “an opportunity to step back for a moment from the chaos of the city,” as he described it early in 1998. After returning to the Hudson Valley from Manhattan in August of 1998, Ciccone has had the opportunity to develop his body of work, first in his shop in West Park, and now at his home studio in Saugerties, NY. His work expands upon the landscapes, abstract pieces, and other found object pieces from his time in New York City to include pieces that further explore the gravity and instability of a particular moment in time.

469 Glasco TurnpikeSaugerties, NY 12477(845) 247-9424-from 9W you turn onto Glasco Turnpike (look for signs for Mount Marion and Opus 40) -if you're coming from the south (Kingston) you turn left onto Glasco Turnpike after the small area called Glenerie (where the speed limit is 45; if it goes back up to 55, you've gone too far) -if you're coming from the north (Saugerties) you turn right onto Glasco Turnpike shortly after passing a small car repair/dealership on your left called Import Enterprise-right after that turn you go over a small bridge and up the side of a hill-follow the road as it curves around-after you pass Glenerie Lane on your left, our house is the 3rd house on the left; our mailbox has the number 469 out front; Michael's metal shop building is at the bottom of the hill, and you'll see lots of sculpture in the yard-parking is available right by Michael's studio - just please be sure to turn around to pull back out onto Glasco Turnpike
