Davis Glows After Dark - Student Night Out: Davis students are being invited to participate in a charity benefit on December 4th from 6:30-9:00p.m. for Mrs. Dickey, former Davis Teacher. Mrs. Dickey continues to fight brain cancer. Snacks and entertainment will be provided. The cost of the event is $12.00 per student. We have extending the sign up date to Thursday, December 3. We are still accepting payment and permission slips. There will be no tickets sold at the door. All proceeds will benefit Mrs. Dickey and her family. Flyer and permission slip can be found on page 2 and 3 of this newsletter. Holiday Gift of Time: PTA is partnering with the Davis administration to offer teachers a “Gift of Time” on December 18. We would like, with your support, to send all students to the B & B Thea-tre to watch, “ The Good Dinosaur.” The cost per student is $5.00. In addition, we are asking for students to bring a sack lunch to school this day to be eaten upon our return. Your child’s teach-ers spend a great deal of personal time tutoring, grading papers, preparing lesson plans and attending professional learning opportunities. We would like to show our appreciation for their dedication and hard work and allow them an opportunity to get “caught up and ahead” prior to the Holiday Break. A permission slip is attached to page 4 and may be handed to PTA at the eleva-tor in the morning. Checks may be made payable to Davis PTA. News from PTA PTA is hosting a Parent’s Day Out on Saturday, Dec 12 from 11-3pm. Take a break and go shop-ping, take a break and go out to lunch, just take a break! Students must be in kindergarten or above. Cost is $20 and includes pizza, crafts and play time.
Students can join PTA too! We are having a contest with student members! As soon as we have 25, we will have drawing for a $20 iTunes gift card or a $20 Five Below gift card. Everyone can also join our PTA through an online link- joinPTA.org
Donations for Davis After Dark Event: We are accepting donations for snacks and drinks for the students attending the Davis After Dark on Friday, Dec 2. Have children bring the snacks and drinks to the office. Please send in individual snacks (example; a box of individualized bags of pretzels instead of a whole bag of pretzels).
Upcoming Spirit Nights- 12/7 Chick fil A, 12/18 Orange Leaf
Reflections - We received a total of 22 entries for the Reflections art contest this year (18 for Visual Arts and 4 for Photography). We want to thank all the students who participated - the en-tries were very creative and followed the theme "Let Your Imagination Fly" very well! The judging has been completed and we will announce after Thanksgiving our school level awards as well as which entries will be advancing to the next level of judging. Congratulations and good luck!
Teacher Appreciation: Calling all bakers and treat makers! The PTA will be hosting a Cookie Exchange for the Davis Staff on December 11. If you love to make cookies, bars or snack mixes for the holidays please consider making extra and donating to our exchange. We know it's a busy time of year and want to do something extra special for the entire staff. We will be taking dona-tions of homemade goodies to be delivered by 10 am, Friday, December 11th in the school office. Please email Nicole Ostrom at [email protected] with your name and what you are do-nating. Thanks for your help!

Gift of Time
School Wide Field Trip to B & B Theatre
November 20, 2015
Dear Parents,
With the holiday season approaching, PTA would like to provide Davis Intermediate School teachers with a “Gift of Time” to show appreciation for all of the extra time and support they give our students. Arrange-ments have been made for Davis students to travel by WISD buses to the B & B Theatre in Wylie to watch Alvin and the Chipmunks, The Road Chip on December 18, 2015. The campus administration, paraprofession-als and PTA volunteers will be chaperoning this event. Teachers will remain on campus to engage in work related activities.
Our plan is for grade 5 to leave Davis Intermediate School at approximately 9:00a.m. and return around 11:30a.m. and grade 6 to leave at 9:30a.m. and return by 12:00p.m. We are requesting $5.00 to help offset the cost of the movie and transportation. Please send cash or checks made payable to Davis PTA. In addi-tion, we ask that you send your child with a sack lunch to be eaten upon our return.
Please sign the form below acknowledging your child’s participation. Permission forms and money need to be returned by Thursday, December 17 to your child’s homeroom teacher. If you have any questions or con-cerns, feel free to contact me at 972-429-3330.
Sincerely,
Barbara Rudolph, Principal Kay Pitzaferro, PTA President
