Home Page Analysis Darnell Romulus Assignment 1 10/30/2015 Mr.Fonseca Home Page Analysis In this presentation we will analyze three separate Airlines websites homepages. Two of which are leading competitors in their respective industry, which often reflects in their website. The third company is not as prominent, but we will see if it also reflects in their website. Outline Similarities and Differences. Strength and weaknesses. My suggestions on each site could improve(Always room for improvement). Build a list of key features/explain the benefits Similarities Like most good websites both of these have pages have their logos in the top left corner. Both pages allow visitors to begin the flight booking process on their homepages. Both pages Utilize the color blue which is a sensible color for a airlines website relating to the sky. Both pages also have login links for membership on the top right section of the page. Both pages use Sans Serif fonts which helps give each page a clean crisp look. Comparison Difference The first difference that captures the users attention is the types of headers. Southwest utilizes the Huge header type while JetBlue uses a more run of the mill header. Another difference is that Southwest utilizes a Image as the site background and JetBlue uses more white space Comparison JetBlue Strengths and Weaknesses Strengths JetBlue does a good job using white space on their site. All the sections on the pages seem to hang together well with good page structure. Good use of colors that help guide the users eyes to key areas of the site. All key site functions occur in the above the fold area of the webpage. Weaknesses The addition of a search bar could prove to be useful. There are three areas of the page designated to its true blue membership. Even though all sections of the page hang well, the page is on the brink of being overly cluttered. Too many navigation options, should focus on site objectives Southwest Strengths and Weaknesses Strengths Southwests home pages is very simple and spacious which makes it easy to navigate and easy on the eyes. Content is organized well, sight navigation is broken up well in to key sections. Homepage does a great job not creating clutter because of the excellent use of space. Use of parallax scrolling add a nice touch. Weaknesses Southwests website in my opinion does not use its prime real estate or its above the fold area. Use of the huge header only leaves room for header and promotional offer. There is not a section to book a flight on the home page. Seems the focus on the site is to show promotional offers first and book flights second. New England Airlines Image has been edited In Comparison New Englands site is very outdated compared to the major competitors. Their site is more informational then sales orientated. In fairness, New England airlines does not offer national or international flights Weaknesses All of the text on the website is the same font, and the entire page except for the header is aligned to the left. There is an image on the far right side of the page that is far to small to be relevant on the page. No search bar. No option to book or begin booking on home page. There is no real sense of design applied to this sight. Not appealing to the eye. What a good Airline sight needs. Good site needs Logo present in header Search Bar Online booking Membership option Hotel booking options The color blue helps create the sky theme.
