After becoming an assistant to a successful agent, I was personally encouraged to gain a real estate license. This competitive career will provide new opportunities away from my previous work in a major financial institution, ambulance billing company, and a greenhouse. I have had firsthand experience in multiple real estate experiences, from custom builds to full home renovations.

Prior to real estate, I spent my days loving on people as a nursing home activities director. I have always had a servant heart and that means putting you first 100%. It’s incredibly fulfilling to know I am helping my clients open a new chapter of their lives. In addition to helping people, I am inspired to help rescue dogs find their fur-ever homes too! That is why I am committed to donating a portion of every sale to a local dog rescue of my client’s choice.

After leaving my 22-year career as a Fighter pilot in the Air Force, I settled back home in Sioux Falls to start my real estate career. Becoming an expert in the field of real estate was my first goal when I started this career 20 years ago. I applied the lessons I learned in the Air Force such as Honesty, Integrity, Trust and just plain hard work to become that expert.I have managed over 10,000 real estate transactions as a Responsible Broker at HJN Team Real Estate and have in depth experience in all phases of real estate. I grew up on an acreage here in South Dakota. I was working on my grandparent’s farm at a young age and then for my dad’s construction company. I’ve always been a hard worker with an entrepreneurial drive and wanting to achieve more. I graduated from USD with a finance degree and have worked in banking, a planning district and as a financial consultant for a large nonprofit. I’ve gained valuable skills and knowledge every step of the way.

I’ve been involved in several real estate transactions and know how important each one is. Through those experiences, I realized what makes a great realtor. I will make sure you feel comfortable with every decision you make along the way. Prior to entering real estate, I enjoyed a 26-year accounting career with the State of South Dakota and took a leap of faith in becoming a Realtor. I always enjoy helping friends and family search for their dream homes and love touring open houses and model homes in whatever city I travel to. I understand what it is like to stand in your shoes as I have relocated several times and have built my own house. I know how important it is to have someone in your corner. As a former accountant, one of my guiding principles is “Trust but Verify” meaning that I am organized and used to paying attention to details so nothing falls through the cracks. My personal motto is “Whether you think you can or you can’t, you’re right.” I believe that every person can achieve their dreams with the right attitude and have fun doing it. The daredevil in me enjoys cross-country motorcycle trips, snowboarding in the Black Hills and wakeboarding on the Missouri River but my softer side craves spending time with my children and grandchildren, scrapbooking quilting and quiet time at home.
