Where am I living – Birmingham, UK.

Where do I think of as my home – Austin and Birmingham.

What home means to me – a working and living city.

I lived, have lived, am living, and will live at Chengdu, Chong Qing, E Mei,

Birmingham, Austin - my dream home.

Introduction

Firstly, I think that a home means a living(birth-town, growing up city), and

working place. Form the places, people can work for earning money to

support their-self and their family, and living with relatives, friends, and nice

neighbours for warming and easy-going life.

I think that Birmingham is my current home since January 2005 I became a

British Citizen. Before 2005, I was a Chinese Citizen, as I was born in China.

In fact, young and middle age people’s homes are moving on the working

wave, as we have to seek permanent jobs for survival ourselves in the early

stages.

Secondly, at the moment for me, home has a special meaning. Very simple, my husband has divorced with me for four months, as he couldn’t find a steady job in U.K and he had to has worked in China as a Chief Engineering for more than ten years by purchasing a flat at Beijing. My daughter has worked at London for more than four years by purchasing a flat with her boyfriend and saw me twice or one time monthly. Only I need to seek a payable job and get a new partner to working and living together.

In fact, the Birmingham is a ‘glass and ghost home’, as I couldn’t live here with only £285 monthly by the JSA controlled by the government of United Kingdom. I came here for twenty years and have a master degree, a diploma, a certificate of both IT and Accountancy. I never got any payable job from others, except Chinese companies employed me for only three years – sadly.

However, Birmingham is a multicultural city with lots of international, national, local companies, NHS, schools, and firms. In fact, I was far away from the real working environment – a sad result.

Chengdu – 1st Home

Next, Chengdu is my First Home, as I was born in Chengdu, China. It is located in the centre of China. It has more than ten millions residents with more than twenty universities, a large scale of business, international and national companies, especially on electronic and mechanic, airspace and high-tech, transports-railway, airplane, Motorway, etc.

Chengdu is a colourful culture city. The millions of residents have come from South and West part of China for working and living, as here there are rich products whatever industry, agriculture, traditional art or rural products. It is also a centre place for its political, economic and business, science and technology, etc. China centre government and Chengdu local government invests large amount of money to improve the city environments, industry, culture, education, and high-tech and science.

I lived in the city for 15 years, and I got my only one daughter.

Chong Qing – 2nd Home

Then, Chong Qing is the fourth biggest city in China, it is my Second Home. I lived and studied in the city with my uncle’s family for 9 years. I got my primary and secondary foundation education from the city by using China National Education Syllabus.

A policeman with 5 children was my old uncle, and my young uncle and young uncle in law were a business officer director and a neighbour officer with 4 children in a local government; they were working and living at the ‘Hot City- influenced by industry pollution with a bad results - more than 40 degree of Celsius at summer. The two uncles are my mother’s brothers. Now my mother family tree links to 36 people who have different roles in the society, such as medicine doctor, boss and co-founders, accountants, engineers, house officers, environment officer, teachers.

I worked in two projects at a power station in Chong Qing for the Civil Engineering Quality Analysis of the Heat Stress at two 240 meters high buildings.

E Mei – 3rd Home

Moreover, E Mei is my Third Home. I and my young brother lived with my mother and grandmother in the rural small town for two years before I went to schools. I studied my year –four and five courses for one and half years in two countryside schools. Meanwhile, I understood lots of local culture(e.g., agriculture products and foods, local people), and living and working tiny things. Such as how to make delicious duck dish, how to make various spice sources, etc.

I worked in the railway company for 7 years –including a payable 3 years full-time high-education studying for Electronic Engineering, and a four years full time job as an engineer assistant.

E Mei Shan is above 3400 meters higher than sea level. It has lots of temples, inside which you can see medicinal samples of hundreds of birds, tigers, bears, snails, etc. Also, it produces a large range of trees, flowers, fruits, original medicinal materials. Some of the trees have special fragrances rooted to more than hundreds years old; one tree’s trunk can be hugged by more then ten people hand by hand tightly. I was standing at the peak of the E Mei Shan to overlook the landscape of the Chengdu Plain Area, and the back side of it was touching with fluffy, white clouds along with thinking snowing, which reaches to thousands miles away to Mount Everest – near India.

Austin, U.S.A – final Finally, my last home – my real dream home seems to be Austin, U.S.A., but I can’t ensure. I am

not know where it is in the future, depending my payable job – I need money to support myself and my family. Really, Austin, U.S.A is my dream home as I got a job offer. I should take time to get my US Visa and Work Permit. The High-Tech and rich culture city has most I want. It wish to link it to my Birmingham house – a real home owned by me in UK, in which I learn rich West culture, other religions, and English Language speaking culture, IT, accountancy, etc.

Now, I have been totally changed by the diversity and opportunity, democratic – freedom philosophy to make my life much easy by living and working with lovely human being and natural societies.

Conclusion

• In conclusion, Home is a word, but it has rich meaning depending on the different situations. For me,

home is a place where I am working in and living with my family, friends, relatives, neighbours. However, I am an immigrant, and at the moment my home should be located at Austin, U.S.A, at which I will have a permanent job to earn money, and own a house for living with my family possibly and friends.

• In fact normally, a real home for a young or middle age person is a temporary place, because getting a permanent job is not easy. So my home likes a floating leave dancing with money waves – job, love, interesting, realistic goal and limited capabilities of me, followed by both economic and society movement.

• However, a simple home is a hotel room – renting for a summer holiday with a family or friends. Much easy and simple, but not enough – only a swift pleasure!
