10 Homecoming 2010—Rave Reviews! The revised, relaxed, revitalized format of this year’s Homecoming revelry resulted in rave reviews! The Boosters created a pre-game carnival celebration for the Trinity family complete with booths, games, and food fit for a fair, while the alumni and their families from four decades gathered in the end zone for their own tent party! Great company, a great view, and a great game made it worth coming home. The final score was a bonus: Trinity Prep 38, Lake Mary Prep 6!

    Tradition with a TwistWe love our Trinity Prep traditions, and we love them even more when they get better! Trinity took its annual Athletic Hall of Fame induction ceremony, moved it to the Ed Center Auditorium, invited the students and faculty, and joined it with another tradition, Lunch on the Lawn—new and improved! We are excited to welcome our 2010 Trinity Prep Athletic Hall of Fame inductees.

    Amanda Burson Jayakeerthi ’00was a fi ve year member of the softball team.Amanda was the starting pitcher on the varsity softball team from 8th – 12th grade and helped lead her teams to a State Runner-up in 1996 and State Championships in 1998 and 2000. She holds every regular season and career pitching record at Trinity Prep, most notably, career records of 104 wins and 20 losses, 1,269 strikeouts, 0.41 earned run average, opponents batting average of .100, 53 shutouts, 29 no-hitters, and 5 perfect games. She was a fi ve-time All-County, All-Central Florida, and All-State Selection, and received the Jasper Award as the top amateur softball player in Florida. Amanda continued her athletic achievements in college, starting for Columbus State University from 2001-2004, earning All-Conference Honors and All-Academic Honors.

    Marie Bernadette Luse ’99

    was a member of the golf team.Bernadette was a member of Trinity Prep’s inaugural Girls’ Golf Team in 1997. A three-year starter, she was named to the All-County Team in 1998 and 1999, selected as the team’s Most Valuable Player in 1997, 1998, and 1999, won the Individual District Title as a junior and went on to compete in the State Championship. She continued her athletic achievements at the University of Mississippi on a golf scholarship, led the Lady Rebels in stroke average her sophomore and senior years, and was named team captain during her junior and senior seasons. After graduation from Ole Miss in 2003 she qualifi ed for the U.S. Women’s Open in 2004, the LPGA Tour in 2005 and 2006, and in 2008 Bernadette won the Golf Channel’s Big Break Competition.

    Norbert Seals ’77earned nine varsity letters in football, basketball, and track.Norbert earned a total of nine varsity letters as a member of the football, basketball, and track teams. He was a three-year starter in football, earning All-County and All-State honors in 1975 and 1976. Norbert was Central Florida’s leading rusher as a junior, amassing 1,543 yards, rushing for more than 1,100 yards in an injury-shortened senior season with a 188 year per game average. He was selected as the team’s Most Valuable Player in his junior and senior years. Norbert was a versatile student-athlete who, in addition to starting for the football team, earned two varsity letters in basketball, four in track where he was the 1977 District and Region Champion in the 220 dash, served as Student Body President, Spanish Club President, Washington, D.C., intern, and was a lead actor in many plays. He continued his athletic achievements at Harvard University as a member of their freshman football team gaining over 100 yards in 14 carries.

    Sarah Hajec Secoy ’00

    was a four-year starter on the softball team.Sarah was a four-year starter on the varsity softball team from 1997-2000 and helped lead her teams to State Championships in 1998 and 2000 where she drove in the winning run in 2000. She fi nished with a career batting average of .398 and holds the school record for most doubles in a season with 18. Sarah was named to the All-County team in 1997, 1998, 1999, and 2000; the All-State team in 1998, 1999, 2000; and the NFCA All-South Region Team in 1998, 1999, and 2000. Sarah continued her athletic achievements at Columbus State University where she was named to the 2002 Peach Belt Conference Team and NFCA Southeast Region Team.

    Whit Watson ’89 was a member of the baseball and cross country teams.Whit was a four-year starter on the varsity baseball team from 1986-1989 and ran cross country his senior year. As a member of the baseball team, he earned the Coach’s Award in 1988 and was named to the All-Conference team in 1989. He was the 1988 recipient of the Trinity Prep Scholar Athlete Award and the 1989 Cross Country Senior Award. Whit attended Cornell University, was a member of their fall baseball team in 1989, and began his broadcasting career at WVBR-FM in Ithaca, New York. Upon graduation from Cornell, Whit served as a reporter and producer for the Orlando Magic from 1993-1997 followed by a six-year stint as anchor, columnist, and host at ESPN. In 2003 he returned to Florida so serve as anchor, play-by-play announcer, writer, and host at Sun Sports and FSN Florida where he was a three-time Emmy award winner as sports host and writer. In 2010 Whit took his talents to the Golf Channel as an anchor and reporter.

    Jay Wettach ’84

    was a six-year member of the basketball team and a member of the football team.Jay was a six-year starting guard on the varsity basketball team from 1978-1984 and was a member of the football team his senior year. He was selected to the All-State Basketball Team in 1983 and 1984, led the basketball team in scoring his sophomore, junior, and senior years. Jay’s natural leadership abilities served him well on the basketball court as he averaged 7 assists and 19 points a game during his junior season.
