Set a plan or a theme for your Christmas deco-rating. It doesn't cost a thing to have a goodplan, and when you are working with budgetideas, this is what pulls your ideas together, andmakes everything you do look purposeful, andpersonal.

Here are some theme ideas for Christmas:

The Victorian Christmas, The Rustic LodgeChristmas, Homeland Country, ChristmasToyland, Country Christmas around the World,Santa and Workshop Christmas. The list goeson and on!

Christmas Door Decoration Ideas

Christmas wreath is the first decorative item thatcomes to the mind when we talk about decorat-ing the Christmas door. Make a midsizedwreath, adorn it with multi-colored blinkinglights, dry fruits, a sprig of mistletoe and add ared satin ribbon to give the final touch. Hang theChristmas wreath at the center of your frontdoor and give a hearty welcome to your visitors!

Another great idea to decorate your door is toplace two real Christmas trees on its either sides,adorning them with various ornaments. Youmay also opt for pre-lit artificial Christmas treesfor the purpose.

A beautiful way to welcome your guests duringChristmas is to place a hanger on your door.A wide variety of beautiful door hangers isavailable in the market during the season. Doorhangers with the picture of reindeer, Santa Clausand snowman make very cute decorative pieces.

You & your kids can also make a personaldoor hanger. You will need card stock, glue,glitters, crayons, marker and sequins. Cut thecard stock according to the size of your door-knob. Using the marker, draw your favoriteChristmas character on the stock. Color andembellish it by gluing on sequins and glitter.Write a Christmas message on it. Your hand-made door hanger is ready!

Non-blinking Christmas lights can be used toembellish the front door. Beautify the doorframewith a long string of Christmas lights. You mayalso use garlands to decorate the border.

If you are good at drawing, take a chart-paper;draw the Nativity Scene, Santa Claus andreindeer, or the snowman. Color it with postercolors and paste it on your front door.

Christmas door decoration is not just limitedto beautifying the front door. Decorating thepremises also becomes important.

A great idea to greet your guests is to decoratethe path leading up to the front door. You mayalso place potted plants or miniature Christmastrees on the path.

Drop a tealight candle in a glass mason jars,tie a holiday ribbon around the neck, and youhave a beautiful candle with Christmas charm.You could nestle the candle in peppermints,nuts, or even sand if you wish. Try groupingseveral together for a dramatic evening effect orgreat luminaries for walkways or laneways.

Want a different effect for your countryChristmas? Have an electric light string andsomeMason jars? Pierce a hole in the Mason jarlid just big enough for the base of the light to gothrough. By screwing the light into the stringsocket, it will hold it in place. Then, screw thecomplete lid onto the jar as shown in thispicture.

Birch-bark trees, or birch-bark candle holders,makes for a simple yet stunning centerpiece.Add some red ribbons and cranberries for afestive sparkle.

Great holiday guests with a red-and-whitecolor scheme. Fill clear glass vases withartificial snow and paper flowers for a wintry,no-wilt centerpiece. Or fill a vase with red andwhite jelly beans or candy canes, and tuck insome poinsettias or other festive flowers with acedar or pine bough.

If you are looking to do a Toyland themefor your Christmas decorating this year, trysearching out teddy bears and dolls at your localthrift stores. Wash them in a pillowcase and putthem in your dryer for at least 20 minutes, thendress them up with ribbons and holiday fabrics.Group them under your tree, on mantels, and onwindowsills. Stack small squares of cardboardtogether and wrap as a tiny present, then tuckthem under a teddy's arm, or wrap an empty boxand use it as teddy's seat by the front door.

Place a few inexpensive glass balls in a bowland embellish with a few sprigs of greenery orsome leftover ribbon.

Tie some greenery or ornaments to thechandelierwith a little Christmas ribbon. Keepthem far away from lighted candles. – Heat fromcandle rises and can cause damage or worse,a fire.

Hang some ornaments outdoors. Do you havean evergreen tree near your laneway orentrance? Red and silver ornaments look fabu-lous on a snow covered tree.
