HOMELESS SHELTERS MANAGEMENT DURING COVID19 IN KUALA LUMPUR
▪ 26/3/2020 the idea comes after Crisis Management Centre (CMC) meeting chairedby the Federal Territories Minister, Tan Sri Annuar Musa.
▪ More than 500 homeless people live in various parts of the Kuala Lumpur CityCentre were rescued from the streets and placed into shelters during themovement control order.
▪ 14 homeless hotspots were identified such as at Masjid Negara, Kotaraya andCentral Market areas, Menara Maybank, Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman, Jalan MasjidIndia, Jalan Tiong Nam, Masjid Jamek, KL Sentral, Jalan Silang, Pudu Sentral,Bangkok Bank, Briekfields and several wet markets in the city.
▪ The homeless community, consist of foreigners, those who were abandoned bytheir families, people who were sick, poor, those suffering from mental illness, drugaddicts, alcoholics and former prisoners.
▪ At first, they have been placed in shelters at Sentul Perdana Community Centre,Tasik Ampang Hilir Community Hall, Setiawangsa Community Hall, Alam Damaimulti-purpose hall in Cheras.

MANAGEMENT FLOW CHART:
▪ Organizations which are independent of government involvement are known as non-governmental organizations or NGOs. NGOs are a subgroup of organizations foundedby citizens, which include clubs and associations which provide services to thehomeless.
▪ The decision to implement work together with Kuala Lumpur City Hall-NGOs to feedthe homeless in the PSG was made at a meeting with NGOs.
▪ These NGOs will prepare the food and send it over to ten community halls in the citywhere it will be handed over to Kuala Lumpur City Hall, or Rela officials, for distributionto the needy.
▪ There is a list of NGOs rostered to provide six meals a day to the PSG and the meals arebreakfast, mid-morning refreshment, lunch, tea, dinner and supper.
▪ Currently, there is a 16 NGOs who working together with Kuala Lumpur City Hall.
