2. Helping one another Family bonding Individual Attention A good education Freedom to Diversity Learning at their own pace Social Adjustment Being who we really are Socialization 3. Helping one another According to a mother whomhomeschools her children, it is helpfulto have children who are at differentacademic levels In this way, the older child can help inteaching the younger child whilerefreshing the ideas and concepts thatthey learned at that age This will give them the ability to alsointeract with their siblings 4. Individual Attention The parent can provide their children withindividual and one-on-one time everyday, where as, public educated children have aratio of usually 24-1 The parent can have the children excel intheir academic strengths and overcometheir difficulties 5. The parents along with their children can helpbuild a curriculum that best fits their childsneeds, not state required needs for a group ofchildren The schedule can be adapted to the child andparents needs and wants 6. Social Adjustment and Socialization Some states allow homeschooled children toparticipate in the after school activities andsports Social Adjustments can include gettingtogether with other children for play dates 7. Family Bonding The bond can grow between a child and parentwhen they spend this much time together Children respect their parent as a parent and ateacher They spend time with their siblings and tend to getalong with them better 8. A Good Education Overall, their education is well-roundedand personalized to what they need According to the National Home EducationResearch Institute, homeschooledstudents score 15-20 points higher thanpublic school students on standardizedtests 9. Learning at Their Own Pace Sometimes teachers in public school just complete what the state requiresof them Children can get lost in the shuffle of trying to get all the requirementscovered At home, the children can learn at theirown pace and take the time they need inorder to expand on concepts they do not understand completely 10. Being Who We Really Are A child can undergo a lot of peer pressurewhile in public schools that sometimes cannotalways be observed by teachers and/orreported by students There are a lot of stereotypes for students insome schools 11. An unsupportive family Teaching several levels at once Isolation/Loneliness Socialization A pressure to succeed Sports at school Being together 24/7 (being Not a qualified teachertruly dedicated) The childs choice 12. An Unsupportive Family Family members may feel as though you are hurtingyour child by not enrolling them in a public schoolsystem Some homeschooled families receive ridicule abouttheir ways If children are perceived as smart by familymembers, they think that the child needs to be placedinto public schooling; however, couldnt it be theparents who help make that child smart ? 13. This can be through the child and/or theparents (teachers) Parents are forced to devote their lives totheir children through teaching them You may not receive a lot of support andencouragement for the teaching you do Isolation/Loneliness 14. As a teacher/parent, you have pressure on you tosucceed and prove to others that homeschoolingreally does work! Dealing with the fact that everyone will not agreewith what you are doing Getting stressed out and not taking it out on yourchildren 15. Not A Qualified Teacher Some parents are not completelyqualified to teach their children Some of them do not even have acollege level education Some of the environments at homereflect this...some children areyelled at for not getting the correctanswer, etc. Taking in a lot of verbal abuse 16. Teaching Several Levels At Once Parents feel overwhelmed to have to teachseveral levels of school at once and in one day The children can struggle because they haveto wait to ask question until their parent isfinished with what their sibling is learning Some studies showed that parents buycurriculums off of the internet in order to helpwith teaching several levels 17. Socialization They do not receive the socialization at home thatthey would in a public school The children are only exposed to their siblings andfamily members If the children are exposed to other children withplay dates, they are usually other homeschooledchildren 18. Sports At School Some states say that Homeschooled childrencannot participate in sports and athletics atpubic schools In this way, it could lead to a social issuebecause a lot of children at public schools meettheir friends when they both participated in asport together 19. Being Together 24/7 Teachers (parents) have to be with theirchildren 24/7 Most parents that homeschool are alsostay at home mothers This means that you are with yourchildren everyday acting both as theirteacher and as their parent This could lead to some resentmentbecause they are forced to be at homewith them 24/7 Sometimes parents and children both needa break and some breathing room! Parents will be forced to dedicatethemselves to their teaching and have to 20. Their Choice Some homeschooled children may want to be placed inpublic schools and not be forced to be taught at homeby their parent Their parents teaching methods might not be workingfor the way that they learn (may be non-energetic,boring, and stern in their teaching ways) They may want to participate in sports at school They may want to experience pubic schools forthemselves 21. Conclusion*Homeschooling can have a lot of negatives andpositive to it, but so can public schools.*It really just depends on the parents and theirfamily on how they ultimately want to raise theirchildren
