SYNOPSIS (THIS OUTLINES THE FLOW OF THE PARTY EVENTS). It’s time for Drew Beasley to kick off the annual bash at the Harrison House. Excitement is hanging thickly in the air, as the

VIPs of Pandora City gear up to mingle with friends, colleagues, and of course - unavoidable foes. Drew Beasley, the CFO of the Harrison House, firmly believes that building community spirit around the Harrison House

is the only way to keep the historical bed & breakfast alive. However, it is becoming increasingly difficult for the townspeople of Pandora City to remain harmonious in the same place for too long of a time.

Drew and the staff of the Harrison House have taken extreme measures this year to divert the guests’ attention away from each other and toward the party’s festivities. They have planned a delectable menu, fun party games and of course, holiday spirited music for the guests to enjoy. This might be their last shot at hosting a huge shindig, as the heir to the Harrison estate is growing tired of the way the Harrison House is being managed.

Hopefully, the staff can prove that the annual party is a necessity for the Harrison House’s ultimate success. Without the yearly buzz as a reminder, the townspeople could forget about the Harrison House even though it has been in Pandora City for over 100 years.

Host Instructions GAME STRUCTURE: the game is organized into four rounds and is structured as follows: OPTIONAL PRE-GAME STARTER: these optional pre-game tasks are to be delivered to each guest before the party, or give them to the guests as they arrive. All pre-game materials are optional. They are intended to enhance the build up for the event. These tasks are not vital to solving the mystery. Also, encourage your guests to view the Your Mystery Party guest pre-game website to get them excited about your game (this is highly encouraged). ROUND ONE: Deliver the round one clue card envelopes as your guests arrive. It is optional to serve cocktails for adults and appetizers. ROUND TWO: Deliver the round two clue card envelopes. It is optional to break for dinner either before or after this round. SOLUTION ROUND THREE: Deliver the round three solutions. It is optional to serve coffee/hot cocoa and dessert.

Don’t host a party without some type of food/beverage offering - hungry guests are not happy guests.

Example Timeline 7:00 PM: Guests arrive. Take guest photos and serve refreshments. Have the invited guest list available for the guests to view as they trickle into the party. Once everybody has arrived, snap a group photo!

7:10 PM: The host goes over the guest instructions for the mystery game. It is optional to have each character stand up and introduce themselves to the group. You can play the game trailer video for an introduction.

7:20 PM: The round one clue cards are handed out, and the game begins. The guests mingle and discuss the clues on their clue cards. Motives will start to unfold during this round.

7:50 PM: An optional bonus game is played.

8:05 PM: An optional dinner is served. Snacks can be served throughout the party instead.

8:35 PM: The round two envelopes are handed out, and the guests mingle about with their Pre-Murder Clues.

9:00 PM: The victim is revealed, and the investigation of the crime begins. The mystery investigation sheets are handed out, and the guests interrogate each other (using the post-murder clues). Each guest should interview every player in the game.

9:15 PM: The forensic report is revealed.

9:30 PM: The investigation sheets (guesses of whodunit) are turned in to the host. After the sheets are collected, the guests may take turns accusing who they believe did it.

9:45 PM: Dessert and coffee may be served at this time. The round three solutions are handed out to the guests. Each player presents their solution, and the murderer confesses at the end. Allow a few minutes for the guests to mingle at the end to discuss the mystery.

10:00 PM: Another optional bonus game may be played &/or host an optional awards ceremony!

To shorten the mystery party, omit the bonus games, don’t stop for dinner, omit the accusation round, and don’t host an awards ceremony. Also, you can shorten the game even further by only having the required players read their solutions (or even just the murderer). If you wish to extend the length of the party, add more bonus games!


OPTIONAL PRE-GAME TASKS:

Character O OPTIONAL - FOR SOME PRE-PARTY FUN, CONTACT THE FOLLOWING GUESTS IN THE WEEK LEADING UP TO THE PARTY: Contact the guest playing Character G and say that s/he left trashcans out on the curb again. You are growing darned tired of living next door to a slob! (Contact info :______________________________) Contact the guest playing Character D and say that you heard s/he has a gambling problem and bets on every sporting event. That type of behavior will lead to trouble, in your opinion. Maybe s/he should seek help. (Contact info :______________________________)

ROUND ONE CLUES – cut out, slip into envelopes and label with the character and round.

Character Y – Round One CLUES TO REVEAL DURING THIS ROUND

Talk to a few people about how psycho Character O seems to be. You took his/her fitness class and had to quit.

You’ve never cared for Character B. You think Character B’s roller rink is in shambles and needs to be demolished.

Talk to Character C about what s/he is working on in the lab now. You know that s/he formulated the newest diet pill on the market, Dietalis.

Character J owes some people for bets that s/he has made. Warn everybody not to make bets with him/her on anything!

Character Q is so nosy; you can’t stand to be around him/her. Stay clear of him/her if you want to gossip, because s/he will spill your secrets!

You find Character H’s videos to be strange but interesting. How s/he can turn a beautiful summer wedding video into a gothic, haunted piece of work - you’ll never know. But for some reason – it works and people love it.

PERSONAL CLUES TO CONCEAL You broke three of your fingers at Pandora on Wheels

last year. Your character is the young, charming nanny that has a

very high, shrill cartoon-like voice. You are also an incessant know it all and cannot take anybody’s advice.

Character s - ROUND TWO Pre-Murder Clues

• Ask either Character S or Character L why they do not seem to like each other. You would think that two people that had to work together to save lives would get along.

• Talk to a few people about what is going on with Character I. You have no idea what Character I does or how s/he earned her/his money and why s/he is famous.

• Speak to a few people about why Character B is angry with Character N. You have no idea and are curious.

• Talk about how you wished your reality show cameras would have been filming you while you skated at Pandora on Wheels – a skating rink that should be condemned! Had you aired your experience on television, that place would be finished!

Post-Murder Evidence & Alibi You would be extremely surprised if your fingerprints were

found on the murder weapon. The killer definitely had to be in good physical shape. You should see where everybody was at the time of the

murder. Obviously, the killer wasn’t in the Imperial Ballroom when the murder occurred. You never left the Imperial Ballroom.
