Stomatitis due to injury Pierre C., two years, injured his upper lip after a fall. Haematoma of upper gum and upper lip oedema. Mouth ulcer left, inner cheek, 38~ clear water running out of nose. He took Arnica. Four days later upper gums are swollen, red, suppurated and bleeding. Homeeopathic doctors view obesity as a difficult problem to treat. They usually prefer to deal with other complaints, including the opposite condition, the thinness of children, because homceopathy can act on the roots (heredity, constitution or chronic affections). As for obesity, the most common cause is psycho- somatic, and it is therefore advisable to use drugs of such aetiology. A list of twenty hom0eopathic drugs taken from Kent's Repertory, Dr Schmidt's Obesity and Barthel's Repertory gives: Ant.crud., Apis, Bar-c., Calc., Calc-s., Caps., Carbo veg., Ferr., Graph., Lach., Lyc., Med., Nat. mur., Nux mosch., Op., Puls., Sepia, Sulph., Thuja. Among these three are particularly important: Capsicum, Ant. crudum, Pulsatilla. Capsicum especially, and Ant. crudum to a lesser extent, appear to be real anorexic anti-depressant homceopathic drugs, with quick and long term results. Pulsatilla is less often prescribed. INDICATIONS Capsicum: Secondary obesity due to bulimia, with thin legs; the child is fat, clumsy and home- sick with red cheeks. Antimonium crudum: Secondary obesity due to bulimia in a bad tempered child with skin complaints. Pulsatilla: May be helpful in children who are affected by maternal separation. The obesity is not always associated with bulimia; it is of a gynoid type. Homeopathie 1988 4:27-36 Kents Repertory--Lepi or Lept? A.
