Internet Database Download Instructions

GPS Database Loader ProgramRead the following instructions, then download and installthe GPS Database Loader program from the Web site.(Found under Wingman Services online.)

Database AvailabilityThe GPS Database Loader works with the followingHoneywell GPS units:

You cannot use the GPS Database Loader program fordiskette-based database subscriptions.

Computer RequirementsThe GPS Database Loader is a 32-bit program, compatiblewith Microsoft Windows 95, 98, Millenium Edition (ME), NTversions 3.51/4.0, 2000, XP or higher.

The Windows-based GPS Database Loader is areplacement for the DOS-based NETLOAD.EXE program.(The old NETLOAD.EXE program will continue to be includedin download packages if you choose to use DOS.)

InstallationTo install the GPS Database Loader, perform threesimple steps:1) Download the GPS Database Loader installation program

onto your computer’s hard drive by selecting “Click here”on the Honeywell Wingman Services site. Save it on your desktop.

2) Double-click on the GPS Database Loader icon on yourdesktop and follow the prompts to install the program.After installation, you can delete the SETUP15.EXE file.

3) To start the program, select Start E Programs E GPSDatabase Loader.

Note: The GPS Database Loader program can beuninstalled by simply selecting: Start E Settings EControl Panel E Add/Remove Programs E GPSDatabase Loader.

●1 KEY NUMBER:You need a key number, which is uniqueto your GPS, in order to download a database. Turn onyour GPS unit and copy down the database key numberfound on the SET 0 or SET 3 pages. If the key number isnot displayed on your GPS unit (as with the KLX 135A,

KLN 90 and KLN 90A), you will need to use the GPSDatabase Loader program to read the database key fromthe unit. If your GPS unit does not display the databasekey number, your GPS unit’s operating software mayneed to be updated. See FAQs for more information orcontact us. Do not try to download a GPS databasewithout a database key number.

●2 SET UP: Set up a user ID and password on theWingman Services Web site. (If you are a member of theBendix/King Pilot’s Club, you may log in with the sameuser ID and password.)

●3 LOG ON: Log on to the Wingman Services Web site by entering your user ID and password. Go to theDownloads page, follow the steps to set up a newsubscription and then download the GPS database file toyour PC’s hard drive using the GPS database keynumber. Please note the location of the saved file. Youmay now log off the site and the Internet.

●4 START LOADER: Start the GPS Data loader programon your PC by going Start E Programs E GPSDatabase Loader. Click on the picture of your GPS andselect the Database.exe file (in the location you notedpreviously), and select Open. The GPS Data loaderprogram will extract the file and open it.

●5 VERIFY:Verify the Database is the correct cycle and dateand that you have the correct Com port selected. Thenconnect your GPS unit to the Com Port/Serial port of yourPC. Click Start. The GPS Data loader program will run a“check sum test” to verify the database file is good.

●6 CONFIRM: Make sure your unit is turned on, at the SET 0or SET 3 page, and connected to the PC. Press theCRSR button so Update Published Database ishighlighted and flashing on the screen of the your GPSunit. Press ENT on the GPS unit.The GPS will ask you toapprove the estimated load time. Press the ENT buttonone more time. The GPS will erase the old database anddownload new data.Your PC will display a progress bar.

●7 COMPLETION:Wait unit the screen of the GPS says thedownload is complete and follow the instructions on thescreen of the GPS before acknowledging the loadprocess is complete on the PC. After completing theinstructions on the GPS unit and the PC, your GPSDatabase Download is now complete.
