2015 HKCC Orientation Theme & Items Design Competition

Your ideas could make a difference!

Aims:This competition aims at (1) stimulating students’ creativity in providing ideas for 2015 Orientation Theme and tagline and (2) promoting positive values among students in HKCC. Based on your proposed theme(s) and your creativity, you are encouraged to design THREE orientation items:1. 2015 Theme Logo for Orientation and Student Development;2. 2015 Orientation Poster;3. 2015 HKCC Planner – Covers & Dividers;

Eligible Entrants:All HKCC students are welcome.

Prizes:Champion: HK$2000 and Certificate First runner-up: HK$1500 and CertificateSecond runner-up: HK$1000 and CertificateMerit Prizes (Maximum 10): HK$300 and Certificate

Remarks: (1) HKCC reserves the right to award fewer prizes depending on the extent the submissions meet the criteria for selection. (2) All winners will have the chance that their ideas and designs are used as 2015 Orientation Theme and Items Design. However, final decision on which idea and design or whether any of the submitted ideas and designs will be used rests with the Student Development Committee of HKCC. (3) The winner might award a contract for developing his/her designs between early June and mid-July. (4) All satisfactory designs are CAT- eligible.

Application Procedures:1. Download the application form via CARES (www.hkcc-polyu.edu.hk/myhkcc).2. Submit your creations (both hard copy and soft copy) together with the completed

application form to HKCC Information Kiosk (either on HHB UG/F or WK 2/F) on or before deadline. ++Disk or drive used to contain the soft copy will not be returned++

Submission Requirement:Create an orientation theme and taglines for the coming academic year. Use not more than 150 words to describe your theme, its education values and related ideas. Your proposed theme and/or logo should be incorporated in your creations. The soft copies of your creations should be saved in both AI & JPEG formats (in CMYK mode).

Specific Design Requirement – 2015 Theme Logo for Orientation and Student Development Activities (to be used on promotional materials throughout academic year 2015-2016):1. No. of Creation : 22. Size : 100mm(W) x 100mm(H)3. Creation 1 Specifics : Bears some relationship with the images used in the

Orientation Poster. This will appear on all posters of activities organized by Student Development Activities in 2015/16

4. Creation 2 Specifics : The 2nd creation should be similar to the 1st creation but with an added tagline (suggested by the applicant)

Rules:1. The submitted ideas, description and creations should be the original work of the

entrant, and that they have not been used or published in previous orientation themes at HKCC or other similar occasions.

2. Each entrant can only submit a maximum of two orientation themes and designs.3. Copyright of the submitted ideas shall remain with the designers. However, by

submitting an entry to the 2015 HKCC Orientation Theme and Items Design Competition, all designers agree that HKCC is granted non-exclusive reproduction rights to all content contained within the submitted theme ideas and design proposals for HKCC orientation promotional materials. HKCC reserves the right to refine, use, or dispose of the design in any way deemed appropriate.

4. HKCC is not liable for infringement or abuse of any design as a result of entry in 2015 Orientation Theme Competition or as a result of any subsequent promotion and publicity.

5. The entrant will be liable for any claim that arises from cases relating to ownership, infringement, copyright abuse and/or any other legal implications as a result of his/her submission.

6. HKCC reserves the right of final interpretation of all the rules and regulations of the Competition, and may at its discretion cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Competition and disqualify any participant for misconduct. In the event of any disputes, HKCC reserves the right to disqualify any entry and/or retract any award from the entrant. All decisions made by HKCC are final and binding all aspects relating to the Competition.

Results Announcement:Results will be announced on or before the end of March 2015.
