KAPI‘OLANI MEDICAL CENTER FOR WOMEN & CHILDREN DIAMOND HEAD TOWER AUDITORIUM HAWAI‘I PACIFIC HEALTH CONFERENCE INFORMATION TARGET AUDIENCE This program is designed to provide continuing education for athletic trainers, physical therapists, team physicians, physicians (pediatrics, family medicine, internal medicine, orthopedics, sports medicine and emergency medicine), nurses and other health professionals. LEVEL OF DIFFICULTY: Advanced Level OBJECTIVES Participants of the Hawai‘i Pacific Health Sports Medicine Symposium 2017 will be able to: 1. Address evaluation and management of low back pain in athletes. 2. Demonstrate functional testing for return to play decisions. 3. Apply and integrate vestibular exercises post concussion. 4. Recognize higher level ankle injuries and their recovery pattern. 5. Assess nutrition demands in athletes. 6. Implement communication techniques to foster relationships between physicians, athletic trainers, physical therapists and other health care professionals to treat patients/athletes with a team approach. CONTINUING EDUCATION In support of improving patient care, Hawai‘i Pacific Health is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team. For Physicians we are offering CME Hawai‘i Pacific Health designates this live activity for a maximum of 5.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit (s)™. Physicians should claim only credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in this activity. For Nurses we are offering ANCC Contact Hours Hawai‘i Pacific Health designates this live activity for 5.5 contact hours for nurses. Nurses should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. Join us for the haWai‘i pacific health SportS Medicine SyMpoSiuM 2017 on Saturday, May 20, at Kapi‘olani Medical center for Women & children’s diamond Head tower Auditorium, 2nd floor.

Again we have assembled an expert faculty who will cover a wide range of sports medicine topics. Our presenters will cover adolescent back injury, management of high ankle sprains, vestibular rehabilitation and back to play evaluation protocols, sports nutrition, and how to improve communication on and off the field. Before and after lunch, we will feature some interactive breakout sessions.

The Hawai‘i Athletic Trainers’ Association (HATA) is an approved CEU provider. Certified athletic trainers can earn up to 5.5 CEUs for their participation in this advanced level activity.

We will also be offering 5.5 continuing education credits for physicians and nurses.

Continuing education credits for physical therapists are currently pending.
